1 Et lorsqu’Athalia (Athalie), la mère d’Ahaziah, vit que son fils était mort, elle se leva et extermina toute la semence royale.
|
1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
|
2 Mais Jehosheba, la fille du roi Jehoram, sœur d’Ahaziah, prit Joash, le fils d’Ahaziah, et le déroba du milieu des fils du roi qu’on faisait mourir, et on le cacha d’Athalia (Athalie), c’est-à-dire lui et sa nourrice, dans la chambre à coucher ; si bien qu’il ne fut pas tué.

2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
|
3 Et il fut caché avec elle, six ans, dans la maison du SEIGNEUR. Et Athalia (Athalie) régnait sur le pays.
|
3 And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.
|
4 ¶ Et, la septième année, Jehoiada envoya chercher les chefs de centaines, ainsi que les capitaines et la garde, et les fit entrer vers lui dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, et fit une alliance avec eux et leur fit prêter serment dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, et leur montra le fils du roi.

4 ¶ And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king’s son.
|
5 Et il leur commanda, disant : Voici la chose que vous ferez Un tiers d’entre vous qui entrez le jour du shabbat, fera la garde de la maison du roi ;
|
5 And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;
|
6 Et un tiers sera à la porte de Sur ; et un tiers à la porte derrière la garde ; ainsi vous ferez la garde de la maison, afin qu’elle ne soit pas dégradée.
|
6 And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
|
7 Et les deux parties d’entre vous qui sortent le jour du shabbat, ceux-là même feront la garde de la maison du SEIGNEUR auprès du roi.
|
7 And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.
|
8 Et vous entourerez le roi de tous côtés, chaque homme ayant ses armes en sa main ; et celui qui entrera dans les rangs sera mis à mort et soyez avec le roi quand il sortira et quand il entrera.
|
8 And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.
|
9 Et les capitaines de centaines firent selon toutes les choses que Jehoiada, le prêtre, avait commandé et ils prirent chacun ses hommes, ceux qui entraient le jour du shabbat et ceux qui sortaient le jour du shabbat ; et ils vinrent vers Jehoiada, le prêtre.
|
9 And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
|
10 Et le prêtre donna aux capitaines de centaines les lances et les boucliers qui avaient été au roi David, qui étaient dans le temple du SEIGNEUR.
|
10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.
|
11 Et les gardes se tinrent, chaque homme ses armes en sa main autour du roi depuis le côté droit du temple jusqu’au côté gauche, le long de l’autel et du temple.
|
11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
|
12 Et il fit amener le fils du roi, et mit sur lui la couronne et lui donna le témoignage ; et ils l’établirent roi et l’oignirent, et ils frappèrent des mains, et dirent : Que Dieu sauve le roi.
|
12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
|
13 ¶ Et lorsqu’Athalia (Athalie) entendit le bruit des gardes et du peuple, elle vint vers le peuple dans le temple du SEIGNEUR.
|
13 ¶ And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.
|
14 Et quand elle regarda, et voici, le roi se tenait près d’une colonne, selon qu’était la coutume, et les princes et les joueurs de trompette étaient près du roi ; et tout le peuple du pays se réjouissait, et sonnait des trompettes, et Athalia (Athalie) déchira ses vêtements, et cria :Trahison, trahison.

14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.
|
15 Mais Jehoiada, le prêtre, commanda aux capitaines des centaines, les officiers de l’armée, et leur dit : Menez-la hors des rangs ; et celui qui la suivra soit tué par l’épée. Car le prêtre avait dit : Qu’elle ne soit pas tuée dans la maison du SEIGNEUR.

15 But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.
|
16 Et ils mirent les mains sur elle, et elle alla par le chemin par lequel les chevaux entraient dans la maison du roi ; et là, elle fut tuée.
|
16 And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.
|
17 ¶ Et Jehoiada fit une alliance entre le SEIGNEUR et le roi et le peuple, qu’ils seraient le peuple du SEIGNEUR, et entre le roi et le peuple.
|
17 ¶ And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD’S people; between the king also and the people.
|
18 Et tout le peuple du pays entra dans la maison de Baal, et ils la démolirent ; et ils brisèrent entièrement ses autels et ses statues ; et ils tuèrent aussi devant les autels Mattan, le prêtre de Baal. Et le prêtre assigna des officiers sur la maison du SEIGNEUR.

18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.
|
19 Et il prit les dirigeants des centaines, et les capitaines, et les gardes, et tout le peuple du pays, et ils firent descendre le roi de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et ils entrèrent dans la maison du roi par le chemin de la porte des gardes. Et il s’assit sur le trône des rois.
|
19 And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
|
20 Et tout le peuple du pays se réjouit, et la ville était calme et ils avaient tué Athalia (Athalie), par l’épée, près de la maison du roi.
|
20 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.
|
21 Joash avait sept ans, quand il commença de régner.
|
21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.
