1 Et il leur dit une parabole en conclusion, que les hommes doivent toujours prier, et ne pas défaillir;

 1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2 Disant: Il y avait dans une ville un juge, qui ne craignait pas Dieu, qui n’avait non plus d’égard pour personne:

 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3 Et il y avait dans cette ville une veuve; et elle vint vers lui, disant: Venge-moi de mon adversaire.

 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 Et il ne le voulut pas pendant un certain temps: mais plus tard il dit en lui-même, Bien que je ne craigne pas Dieu, et n’aie d’égard pour personne;

 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5 Cependant, parce que cette veuve me dérange, je la vengerai, de peur que par ses visites continuelles elle ne me lasse.

 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6 Et le Seigneur dit: Entendez ce que le juge injuste dit.

 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7 Et Dieu ne vengera-t-il pas ses propres élus qui crient vers lui jour et nuit, bien qu’il les supporte longuement?

 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8 Je vous dis qu’il les vengera rapidement. Néanmoins lorsque le Fils de l’homme viendra, trouvera-t-il la foi sur la terre?

 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

9 Et il dit cette parabole à certains qui se confiaient en eux-mêmes qu’ils étaient droits, et qui méprisaient les autres:

 9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 Deux hommes montèrent au temple pour prier; l’un pharisien et l’autre publicain.

 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 Le pharisien se tenait debout et priait ainsi en lui-même, Dieu, je te remercie, de ce que je ne suis pas comme d’autres hommes sont, extorqueurs, injustes, adultères, ou même comme ce publicain.

 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 Je jeûne deux fois par semaine, je donne la dîme de tout ce que je possède.

 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 Et le publicain, se tenant éloigné, ne voulait pas même lever ses yeux vers le ciel, mais frappait sa poitrine, disant: Dieu, sois miséricordieux envers moi un pécheur.

 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 Je vous dis, cet homme descendit dans sa maison justifié plutôt que l’autre: car quiconque s’élève sera abaissé; et quiconque s’humilie sera élevé.

 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

15 Et ils lui amenèrent aussi des nourrissons, afin qu’il les touchât: mais lorsque ses disciples le virent, ils les reprirent.

 15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

16 Mais Jésus les appela à lui, et dit: Laissez les petits enfants venir vers moi, et ne les empêchez pas: car à de tels est le royaume de Dieu.

 16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

17 En vérité je vous dis: Quiconque ne recevra pas le royaume de Dieu comme un petit enfant n’y entrera en aucun cas.

 17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

18 Et un certain dirigeant lui demanda, disant: Bon Maître, que ferai-je pour hériter la vie éternelle?

 18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

19 Et Jésus lui dit: Pourquoi m’appelles-tu bon? Personne n’est bon, sauf un, c’est-à-dire, Dieu.

 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

20 Tu connais les commandements, Ne commets pas d’adultère, Ne tue pas, Ne vole pas, Ne dis pas de faux témoignage, Honore ton père et ta mère.

 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

21 Et il dit: Je les ai gardés tous depuis ma jeunesse.

 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

22 Or quand Jésus entendit ces choses, il lui dit: Cependant il te manque une chose: vends tout ce que tu as, et distribue-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor au ciel: et viens, suis-moi.

 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

23 Et quand il entendit cela, il fut très attristé: car il était très riche.

 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

24 Et quand Jésus vit qu’il était très attristé, il dit: Combien difficilement ceux qui ont de la richesse entreront-ils dans le royaume de Dieu!

 24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

25 Car il est plus facile à un chameau de passer au travers du trou d’une aiguille, que pour un homme riche d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.

 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 Et ceux qui l’entendaient dirent: Qui donc peut être sauvé?

 26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

27 Et il dit: Les choses qui sont impossibles aux hommes sont possibles à Dieu.

 27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

28 Alors Pierre dit: Voici, nous avons tout quitté, et t’avons suivi.

 28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

29 Et il leur dit: En vérité je vous dis, il n’y a aucun homme qui ait laissé maison, ou parents, ou frères, ou femme, ou enfants, à cause du royaume de Dieu,

 29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,

30 Qui ne recevra multiple fois plus en ce moment présent, et dans le monde à venir, la vie sempiternelle.

 30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 ¶ Puis il prit auprès de lui les douze, et leur dit: Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem, et toutes les choses qui sont écrites par les prophètes concernant le Fils de l’homme, arriveront.

 31 ¶ Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

32 Car il sera livré aux Gentils, et sera moqué, et traité malignement, et l'on crachera sur lui:

 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

33 Et ils le fouetteront, et le mettront à mort: et le troisième jour il ressuscitera.

 33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

34 Et ils ne comprirent aucune de ces choses: et ce propos leur était caché, ils ne connaissaient pas non plus les choses qui étaient dites.

 34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

35 ¶ Et il arriva, comme il s’était approché de Jéricho, qu’un certain aveugle assis au bord du chemin, mendiait:

 35 ¶ And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

36 Et entendant la multitude qui passait, il demanda ce que cela signifiait.

 36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

37 Et ils lui dirent que Jésus de Nazareth passait.

 37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

38 Et il cria, disant: Jésus, toi Fils de David, aie miséricorde envers moi.

 38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

39 Et ceux qui allaient devant le réprimandèrent afin qu’il se taise: mais il criait encore plus fort: Toi, Fils de David, aie miséricorde envers moi.

 39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

40 Et Jésus s’arrêta, et commanda qu’on le lui amène: et quand il fut venu près de lui, il lui demanda,

 40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

41 Disant: Que veux-tu que je te fasse? Et il dit: Seigneur, que je puisse recevoir ma vue.

 41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42 Et Jésus lui dit: Reçois ta vue: ta foi t’a sauvé.

 42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

43 Et immédiatement il reçut sa vue, et le suivit, glorifiant Dieu: et tout le peuple quand il vit cela, loua Dieu.

 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
