1 Puis les Pharisiens, et certains scribes, qui étaient venus de Jérusalem, vinrent ensemble vers lui.

 1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.

2 Et lorsqu’ils virent que quelques-uns de ses disciples mangeaient du pain avec des mains souillées, c’est-à-dire des mains non lavées, ils trouvèrent à redire.

 2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.

3 Car les Pharisiens, et tous les Juifs ne mangent pas à moins qu’ils ne lavent souvent leurs mains, retenant la tradition des anciens.

 3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.

4 Et lorsqu’ils reviennent du marché, ils ne mangent pas à moins qu’ils ne se soient lavés. Et il y a beaucoup d’autres choses qu’ils ont reçues pour les retenir, comme le lavage des coupes, et des pots, des ustensiles en cuivre, et des tables.

 4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

5 Puis les Pharisiens et les scribes lui demandèrent: Pourquoi tes disciples ne se conduisent-ils pas selon la tradition des anciens, mais mangent du pain sans se laver les mains?

 5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

6 Il répondit et leur dit: Ésaïe a bien prophétisé à votre sujet, hypocrites, comme il est écrit, Ce peuple m’honore avec leurs lèvres, mais leur cœur est loin de moi.

 6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 Quoi qu’il en soit c’est en vain qu’ils m’adorent, enseignant pour doctrines les commandements d’hommes.

 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 Car en laissant de côté le commandement de Dieu, vous retenez la tradition des hommes, comme le lavage des pots et des coupes: et beaucoup d’autres choses semblables que vous faites.

 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 Et il leur dit: Vous rejetez fort bien le commandement de Dieu, afin que vous puissiez garder votre propre tradition.

 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

10 Car Moïse a dit, Honore ton père et ta mère; et, Que celui qui maudit père ou mère, qu’il soit mis à mort:

 10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

11 Mais vous dites, Si un homme dit à son père ou à sa mère: C’est Corban, c’est-à-dire, un don, par lequel tu aurais pu profiter de ma part; il sera libre.

 11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

12 Et vous ne lui permettez plus de rien faire pour son père ou pour sa mère;

 12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

13 Rendant la parole de Dieu sans effet par votre tradition que vous avez transmise: et vous faites beaucoup d’autres choses semblables.

 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

14 ¶ Et lorsqu’il eut appelé tout le peuple à lui, il leur dit: Prêtez-moi l’oreille, chacun de vous, et comprenez:

 14 ¶ And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

15 Il n’y a rien de l’extérieur de l’homme qui, entrant en lui, puisse le souiller: mais les choses qui sortent de lui, celles-ci sont celles qui souillent l’homme.

 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

16 Si un homme a des oreilles pour entendre, qu’il entende.

 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

17 Et lorsqu’il fut entré dans la maison, loin du peuple, ses disciples lui demandèrent concernant la parabole.

 17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

18 Et il leur dit: Êtes-vous donc aussi sans compréhension? Ne percevez-vous pas, que toute chose de l’extérieur qui entre dans l’homme, cela ne peut pas le souiller;

 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 Parce que cela n’entre pas dans son cœur, mais dans le ventre, et s’en va dans les égouts, éliminant tous les aliments?

 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

20 Et il disait: Ce qui sort de l’homme, c’est ce qui souille l’homme.

 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 Car de l’intérieur, du cœur des hommes, proviennent mauvaises pensées, adultères, fornications, meurtres,

 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Vols, convoitise, immoralité, tromperie, lascivité, œil mauvais, blasphème, fierté, absurdité:

 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 Toutes ces choses mauvaises viennent de l’intérieur, et souillent l’homme.

 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

24 ¶ Et il se leva de là, et s’en alla aux frontières de Tyr et de Sidon, et entra dans une maison, et ne voulait qu’aucun homme ne le sache: mais il ne put être caché.

 24 ¶ And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

25 Car une certaine femme, dont la petite fille avait un esprit impur, entendit parler de lui, et vint et tomba à ses pieds:

 25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

26 La femme était grecque, et Syrophénicienne de nation; et elle le supplia de chasser le diable hors de sa fille.

 26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

27 Mais Jésus lui dit: Laisse d’abord les enfants se rassasier: car il n’est pas convenable de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux chiens.

 27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

28 Et elle répondit et lui dit: Oui, Seigneur: toutefois les chiens mangent sous la table les miettes des enfants.

 28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.

29 Et il lui dit: À cause de ce propos, va; le diable est sorti de ta fille.

 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

30 Et lorsqu’elle fut arrivée à sa maison, elle trouva le diable sorti, et sa fille étendue sur le lit.

 30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

31 ¶ Et de nouveau, partant des côtes de Tyr et de Sidon, il vint vers la mer de Galilée, au milieu des territoires de la Décapole.

 31 ¶ And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

32 Et ils lui amenèrent un homme qui était sourd, et avait des difficultés de s’exprimer; et ils l’implorèrent de mettre sa main sur lui.

 32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.

33 Et il le prit à part en dehors de la multitude, et il lui mit ses doigts dans les oreilles, et il cracha et toucha sa langue;

 33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;

34 Et regardant vers le ciel, il soupira et lui dit: Ephphatha, c’est-à-dire, Sois ouvert.

 34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

35 Et aussitôt ses oreilles furent ouvertes, et le lien de sa langue fut délié, et il parlait distinctement.

 35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

36 Et il leur recommanda qu’ils ne le disent à aucun homme: mais plus il leur recommandait, plus ils le publiaient;

 36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

37 Et ils étaient étonnés outre mesure, disant: Il a fait toutes choses bien; il fait que les sourds entendent et que les muets parlent.

 37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
