1 Et il leur dit: En vérité, je vous dis, Qu’il y en a quelques-uns de ceux qui se tiennent ici qui ne goûteront pas la mort, jusqu’à ce qu’ils aient vu le royaume de Dieu venir avec pouvoir.

 1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

2 ¶ Et six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre, et Jacques et Jean, et les conduit seuls à part sur une haute montagne: et il fut transfiguré devant eux.

 2 ¶ And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

3 Et son habillement devint brillant, extrêmement blanc comme neige; de sorte qu’aucun foulon sur la terre ne pourrait les blanchir ainsi.

 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

4 Et Élie avec Moïse leur apparurent: et ils étaient en train de parler avec Jésus.

 4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

5 Et Pierre répondit et dit à Jésus: Maître, il est bon pour nous d’être ici: et faisons trois tabernacles; un pour toi, et un pour Moïse, et un pour Élie.

 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

6 Car il ne savait que dire; car ils avaient grande peur.

 6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.

7 Et il y eut un nuage qui les couvrit: et une voix sortit du nuage disant: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé: écoutez-le.

 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

8 Et soudain, lorsqu’ils eurent regardé tout autour, ils ne virent plus aucun homme, sinon Jésus seul avec eux.

 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

9 Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur recommanda qu’ils ne racontent à personne les choses qu’ils avaient vues, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’homme soit ressuscité d’entre les morts.

 9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.

10 Et ils gardèrent ce propos en eux-mêmes, se demandant les uns aux autres ce que voulait dire ressusciter d’entre les morts.

 10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.

11 ¶ Et ils lui demandèrent, disant: Pourquoi les scribes disent-ils qu’Élie doit venir d’abord?

 11 ¶ And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?

12 Et il répondit et leur dit: Il est vrai, qu’Élie vient d’abord, et restaure toutes choses; et comment il est écrit du Fils de l’homme, qu’il doit souffrir beaucoup de choses, et être considéré comme rien.

 12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

13 Mais je vous dis: Qu’Élie est en effet venu, et ils lui ont fait tout ce qu’ils ont voulu, comme il est écrit de lui.

 13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

14 ¶ Et quand il vint vers ses disciples, il vit une grande multitude autour d’eux, et des scribes discutant avec eux.

 14 ¶ And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

15 Et aussitôt tout le peuple lorsqu’ils le virent, furent grandement stupéfaits, et coururent à lui, pour le saluer.

 15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

16 Et il demanda aux scribes: De quoi discutez-vous avec eux?

 16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?

17 Et un de la multitude répondit et dit: Maître, je t’ai amené mon fils, lequel a un esprit muet;

 17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

18 Et partout où il le saisit, il le déchire; il écume, et grince ses dents, et dépérit: et j’ai parlé à tes disciples, pour qu’ils le chassent; et ils n’ont pas pu.

 18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

19 Il lui répondit et dit: Ô génération sans foi, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous? jusqu’à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi.

 19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

20 Et ils lui amenèrent à lui: et quand il le vit, aussitôt l’esprit le déchira; et il tomba à terre, et il se roulait en écumant.

 20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 Et il demanda à son père: Depuis combien de temps ceci lui est-il arrivé? Et il dit: Depuis l’enfance.

 21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

22 Et souvent il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans les eaux pour le tuer: mais si tu peux faire quelque chose, aie compassion envers nous, et aide-nous.

 22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

23 Jésus lui dit: Si tu peux croire, toutes choses sont possibles à celui qui croit.

 23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

24 Et aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écria et dit avec larmes: Seigneur, je crois, aide mon incrédulité.

 24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25 Lorsque Jésus vit que le peuple venait en courant tous ensemble, il reprit l’esprit immonde, lui disant: Toi esprit muet et sourd, je te commande, sors de lui, et ne rentre plus en lui.

 25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 Et l’esprit cria, et le déchira violemment, et sortit: et il était comme mort; à tel point que beaucoup disaient: Il est mort.

 26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27 Mais Jésus le prit par la main, et le souleva; et il se leva.

 27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

28 Et lorsqu’il fut entré dans la maison, ses disciples lui demandèrent en particulier: Pourquoi n’avons-nous pas pu le chasser?

 28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29 Et il leur dit: Cette sorte ne peut sortir autrement que par la prière et le jeûne.

 29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

30 ¶ Et ils partirent de là et traversèrent la Galilée; et il ne voulait qu’aucun homme le sache.

 30 ¶ And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

31 Car il enseignait ses disciples, et il leur disait: Le Fils de l’homme est livré aux mains des hommes, et ils le tueront, et après qu’il aura été tué, il ressuscitera le troisième jour.

 31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

32 Mais ils ne comprenaient pas ce propos, et ils avaient peur de lui demander.

 32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

33 ¶ Et il vint à Capernaüm: et étant dans la maison, il leur demanda: À quel sujet vous disputiez-vous en chemin?

 33 ¶ And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?

34 Mais ils se turent: car ils s’étaient disputés entre eux en chemin à propos de qui devait être le plus grand.

 34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

35 Et il s’assit et appela les douze et leur dit: Si un homme désire être le premier, celui-ci sera le dernier de tous, et le serviteur de tous.

 35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

36 Et il prit un enfant, et le mit au milieu d’eux: et après qu’il l’eut pris dans ses bras, il leur dit:

 36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,

37 Quiconque recevra un de ces enfants en mon nom, me reçoit: et quiconque me recevra, ne reçoit pas moi, mais celui qui m’a envoyé.

 37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

38 ¶ Et Jean lui répondit, disant: Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un chasser les diables en ton nom, et il ne nous suit pas: et nous l’avons empêché, parce qu’il ne nous suit pas.

 38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

39 Mais Jésus dit: Ne l’en empêchez pas: car il n’y a aucun homme qui fasse un miracle en mon nom, et qui puisse facilement parler mal de moi.

 39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

40 Car celui qui n’est pas contre nous est pour nous.

 40 For he that is not against us is on our part.

41 Car quiconque vous donnera à boire un verre d’eau en mon nom, parce que vous appartenez à Christ, en vérité, je vous dis qu’il ne perdra pas sa récompense.

 41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

42 Et quiconque offensera l’un de ces petits qui croient en moi, mieux vaudrait pour lui qu’une meule soit suspendue autour de son cou, et qu’il soit jeté dans la mer.

 42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43 Et si ta main t’offense, coupe-la: il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie, estropié que d’avoir deux mains et aller en enfer, dans le feu qui ne sera jamais éteint:

 43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Où leur ver ne meurt pas, et où le feu ne s’éteint pas.

 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 Et si ton pied t’offense, coupe-le: il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie boiteux, que d’avoir deux pieds, et être jeté en enfer, dans le feu qui ne sera jamais éteint:

 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46 Où leur ver ne meurt pas, et où le feu ne s’éteint pas.

 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

47 Et si ton œil t’offense, arrache-le: il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans le royaume de Dieu n’ayant qu’un œil, que d’avoir deux yeux, et être jeté dans l’enfer de feu:

 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

48 Où leur ver ne meurt pas, et où le feu ne s’éteint pas.

 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

49 Car chacun sera salé de feu, et tout sacrifice sera salé de sel.

 49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

50 Le sel est bon: mais si le sel perd sa salure, avec quoi l’assaisonnerez-vous? Ayez du sel en vous-mêmes, et soyez en paix entre vous.

 50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
