1 Et six jours après, Jésus prend Pierre, Jacques et Jean, son frère, et les mène sur une haute montagne, à l’écart,

 1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 Et il fut transfiguré devant eux: et son visage resplendit comme le soleil, et son habillement était blanc comme la lumière.

 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 Et, voici, Moïse et Élie leur apparurent, parlant avec lui.

 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Alors Pierre répondit et dit à Jésus: Seigneur, il est bon pour nous d’être ici: si tu veux, faisons ici trois tabernacles; un pour toi, un pour Moïse et un pour Élie.

 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 Tandis qu’il parlait encore, voici, un nuage brillant les couvrit: et voici une voix sortit du nuage, qui disait: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, en qui je prends grand plaisir; écoutez-le.

 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 Et lorsque les disciples l’entendirent, ils tombèrent sur leur visage et eurent une très grande peur.

 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 Et Jésus vint et les toucha et dit: Levez-vous et n’ayez pas peur.

 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 Et lorsqu’ils levèrent leurs yeux, ils ne virent aucun homme, seulement Jésus.

 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 Et comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur recommanda ceci disant: Ne racontez la vision à aucun homme, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’homme soit ressuscité d’entre les morts.

 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

10 Et ses disciples lui demandèrent, disant: Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils qu’il faut qu’Élie vienne d’abord?

 10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?

11 Et Jésus répondit et leur dit: Il est vrai qu’Élie viendra d’abord et rétablira toutes choses.

 11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

12 Mais je vous dis qu’Élie est déjà venu et ils ne l’ont pas reconnu, mais ils lui ont fait tout ce qu’ils ont voulu de même aussi le Fils de l’homme souffrira par eux.

 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

13 Alors les disciples comprirent qu’il leur parlait de Jean le Baptiste.

 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

14 ¶ Et lorsqu’ils arrivèrent vers la multitude, un certain homme vint à lui, s’agenouillant devant lui et disant:

 14 ¶ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

15 Seigneur, aie miséricorde envers mon fils: car il est lunatique, et fort tourmenté: car il tombe souvent dans le feu et souvent dans l’eau.

 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16 Et je l’ai amené à tes disciples, et ils n’ont pu le guérir.

 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

17 Alors Jésus répondit et dit: Ô génération sans foi et perverse, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous? jusqu’à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi ici.

 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

18 Et Jésus reprit le diable; et il sortit de lui: et l’enfant fut rétabli à cette heure-là.

 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

19 Alors les disciples vinrent à Jésus le prenant à l’écart et dirent: Pourquoi n’avons-nous pas pu le chasser?

 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20 Et Jésus leur dit: À cause de votre incrédulité: car en vérité je vous dis, si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de semence de moutarde, vous diriez à cette montagne: Déplace-toi d’ici à là-bas; et elle se déplacerait, et rien ne vous serait impossible.

 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

21 Quoi qu’il en soit, cette sorte ne sort que par la prière et par le jeûne.

 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

22 ¶ Et tandis qu’ils étaient en Galilée, Jésus leur dit: Le Fils de l’homme sera trahi entre les mains des hommes:

 22 ¶ And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

23 Et ils le tueront, et le troisième jour il ressuscitera. Et ils furent extrêmement attristés.

 23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

24 ¶ Et lorsqu’ils arrivèrent à Capernaüm, ceux qui recevaient l’argent du tribut, vinrent à Pierre et dirent: Votre maître ne paye-t-il pas le tribut?

 24 ¶ And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

25 Il dit: Oui. Et quand il fut arrivé dans la maison, Jésus le devança, disant: Que penses-tu, Simon? De qui les rois de la terre prennent-ils douane ou tribut? De leurs enfants ou des étrangers?

 25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

26 Pierre lui dit: Des étrangers. Jésus lui dit: Alors les enfants sont libres.

 26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

27 Toutefois pour ne pas les offenser, va à la mer, et jette un hameçon, et tire le premier poisson qui montera; et quand tu auras ouvert sa bouche, tu trouveras une pièce de monnaie: prends-la, et donne-la leur pour moi et pour toi.

 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
