1 À ce même moment, les disciples vinrent vers Jésus disant: Qui est le plus grand dans le royaume du ciel?

 1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 Et Jésus appela à lui un petit enfant et le plaça au milieu d’eux,

 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 Et dit: En vérité je vous dis, à moins que vous ne vous convertissiez, et ne deveniez comme des petits enfants, vous n’entrerez pas dans le royaume du ciel.

 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Quiconque donc s’humiliera comme ce petit enfant, celui-là est le plus grand dans le royaume du ciel.

 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 Et quiconque reçoit un tel petit enfant en mon nom me reçoit.

 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

6 Mais quiconque offensera un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’une meule de moulin soit suspendue autour de son cou, et qu’il soit noyé dans les profondeurs de la mer.

 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

7 ¶ Malheur au monde à cause des offenses! car il est nécessaire que surviennent des offenses; mais malheur à cet homme par qui l’offense arrive!

 7 ¶ Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

8 C’est pourquoi si ta main ou ton pied est pour toi une offense, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi: il vaut mieux pour toi d’entrer dans la vie boiteux ou estropié, que d’avoir deux mains ou deux pieds et d’être jeté dans le feu sans fin.

 8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

9 Et si ton œil est pour toi un sujet d’offense, arrache-le, et jette-le loin de toi: il vaut mieux pour toi d’entrer dans la vie avec un seul œil que d’avoir deux yeux et d’être jeté dans le feu de l’enfer.

 9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

10 Prenez garde que vous ne méprisiez un de ces petits; car je vous dis qu’au ciel leurs anges regardent toujours la face de mon Père qui est au ciel.

 10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

11 Car le Fils de l’homme est venu pour sauver ce qui était perdu.

 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

12 Qu’en pensez-vous? Si un homme a cent moutons et que l’un d’eux se soit égaré, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf, pour s’en aller dans les montagnes chercher celui qui s’est égaré?

 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

13 Et s’il arrive qu’il le trouve, en vérité je vous dis qu’il se réjouit plus pour ce mouton que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarés.

 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

14 Oui certainement ce n’est pas la volonté de votre Père qui est au ciel qu’un seul de ces petits périsse.

 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

15 ¶ De plus si ton frère enfreint contre toi, va et dis-lui sa faute entre toi et lui seul: s’il t’écoute, tu as gagné ton frère.

 15 ¶ Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 Mais s’il ne t’écoute pas, alors prends avec toi une ou deux personnes, afin que par la bouche de deux ou de trois témoins toute parole soit établie.

 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 Et s’il néglige de les écouter, dis-le à l’église: mais s’il néglige d’écouter l’église, qu’il te soit comme un païen et un publicain.

 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

18 En vérité je vous dis: Tout ce que vous aurez lié sur la terre sera lié au ciel: et tout ce que vous aurez délié sur la terre sera délié au ciel.

 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Je vous dis encore: Si deux d’entre vous s’accordent sur la terre concernant une chose quelconque, qu’ils demandent, cela leur sera fait par mon Père qui est au ciel.

 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 Car là où deux ou trois personnes sont assemblées en mon nom, je suis là au milieu d’elles.

 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

21 ¶ Alors Pierre vint à lui et dit: Seigneur, combien de fois mon frère péchera-il contre moi et lui pardonnerai-je? jusqu’à sept fois?

 21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jésus lui dit: Je ne te dis pas, jusqu’à sept fois: mais jusqu’à soixante-dix fois sept.

 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

23 ¶ Par conséquent le royaume du ciel est semblable à un certain roi qui voulut faire le compte avec ses serviteurs.

 23 ¶ Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

24 Et lorsqu’il commença de compter, on lui en amena un qui lui devait dix mille talents.

 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

25 Mais comme il n’avait pas de quoi payer, son seigneur commanda qu’il soit vendu, ainsi que sa femme et ses enfants, et tout ce qu’il avait, et que le payement soit fait.

 25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

26 Le serviteur tomba donc à terre et l’adora disant: Seigneur, aie patience envers moi, et je te payerai tout.

 26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

27 Alors le seigneur de ce serviteur fut ému de compassion et le relâcha et pardonna sa dette.

 27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

28 Mais ce même serviteur sortit et rencontra un de ses compagnons de service qui lui devait cent deniers, et il mit ses mains sur lui et le prit à la gorge disant: Paye-moi ce que tu me dois.

 28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

29 Et son compagnon de service tomba à terre à ses pieds et le supplia disant: Aie patience envers moi et je te payerai tout.

 29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

30 Et il ne voulut pas: mais s’en alla et le jeta en prison jusqu’à ce qu’il ait payé la dette.

 30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

31 Aussi lorsque ses compagnons de service virent ce qui s’était passé, ils furent très attristés et allèrent raconter à leur seigneur tout ce qui s’était passé.

 31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

32 Alors son seigneur après qu’il l’eut appelé, lui dit: Ô toi, serviteur immoral, je t’avais pardonné toute cette dette parce que tu m’en avais supplié:

 32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

33 Ne devais-tu pas aussi avoir de la compassion envers ton compagnon de service, de même que j’ai eu pitié de toi?

 33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

34 Et son seigneur fut courroucé et le livra aux tourmenteurs jusqu’à ce qu’il eût payé tout ce qu’il lui devait.

 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

35 Ainsi de même mon Père céleste fera aussi envers vous, si de vos cœurs vous ne pardonnez pas chacun de vous à son frère ses infractions.

 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
