1 Entendez maintenant ce que dit le SEIGNEUR Lève-toi, plaide devant les montagnes, et que les collines entendent ta voix.

 1 Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

2 Entendez, ô montagnes, le procès du SEIGNEUR, et vous, fermes fondements de la terre car le SEIGNEUR a un procès avec son peuple, et il plaidera avec Israël.

 2 Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

3 Ô mon peuple, que t’ai-je fait, ou en quoi t’ai-je lassé ? Témoigne contre moi.

 3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

4 Car je t’ai fait monter du pays d’Égypte, je t’ai racheté de la maison de servitude, et j’ai envoyé devant toi Moïse, Aaron et Miriam.

 4 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

5 Ô mon peuple, souviens-toi maintenant, ce qu’avait conseillé Balak, roi de Moab, et ce que lui répondit : Balaam, le fils de Beor, depuis Shittim (Sittim) jusqu’à Gilgal (Guilgal), afin que tu connaisses la rectitude du SEIGNEUR.

 5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

6 ¶ Avec quoi me présenterai-je devant le SEIGNEUR, et m’inclinerai-je devant le haut Dieu ? Irai-je au-devant de lui avec des offrandes consumées, avec des veaux d’un an ?

 6 ¶ Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

7 Le SEIGNEUR prendra-t-il plaisir à des milliers de béliers, ou à dix mille rivières d’huile ? Donnerai-je mon premier-né pour ma transgression, le fruit de mon corps pour le péché de mon âme ?

 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 Il t’a montré, ô homme, ce qui est bon, et qu’est-ce que le SEIGNEUR requiert de toi, sinon de faire ce qui est juste, et d’aimer la miséricorde, et de marcher humblement avec ton Dieu ?

 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

9 La voix du SEIGNEUR crie à la ville, et l’homme rempli de sagesse verra ton non ; entendez la verge, et celui qui l’a assignée.

 9 The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

10 ¶ Y a-t-il encore des trésors de méchanceté dans la maison du méchant, et la mesure restreinte, ce qui est abominable ?

 10 ¶ Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

11 Les tiendrai-je pour purs avec des balances fausses et avec un sac de faux poids ?

 11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

12 Car ses hommes riches sont pleins de violence, ses habitants ont proféré des mensonges, et leur langue est trompeuse dans leur bouche.

 12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13 C’est pourquoi je te rendrai malade en te frappant ; et te rendant dévastée à cause de tes péchés.

 13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

14 Tu mangeras, mais tu ne seras pas rassasiée, et la cause de ton abaissement sera au-dedans de toi ; tu empoigneras, mais tu ne sauveras pas, et ce que tu auras sauvé, je le livrerai à l’épée.

 14 Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.

15 Tu sèmeras, mais tu ne moissonneras pas ; tu presseras les olives, mais tu ne t’oindras pas d’huile ; ainsi que le vin doux, et tu ne boiras pas de vin.

 15 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.

16 ¶ Car on a gardé les statuts d’Omri, et toutes les œuvres de la maison d’Achab, et vous marchez d’après leurs conseils ; afin que je fasse de toi une désolation, et de ses habitants un sifflement ; c’est pourquoi vous porterez le reproche de mon peuple.

 16 ¶ For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
