1 Malheur à moi ! car je suis comme lorsqu’on a cueilli les fruits d’été, comme les grappillages de la vendange Il n’y a aucune grappe à manger, mon âme désirait des premiers fruits.

 1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

2 L’homme de bien a péri de dessus la terre, et il n’y a pas un homme droit parmi les hommes ils sont tous en embuscade pour verser le sang ; chacun chasse après son frère avec un filet.

 2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

3 ¶ Pour faire du mal avec les deux mains à bon escient, le prince demande, et le juge demande une récompense, et le grand homme profère son désir maléfique, qu’ils entortillent.

 3 ¶ That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

4 Le meilleur d’entre eux est comme une ronce ; le plus intègre est plus piquant qu’une haie d’épines le jour de tes sentinelles, et ta visitation arrive maintenant sera leur perplexité.

 4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

5 ¶ Ne vous fiez pas à un ami ; ne vous confiez pas à un conseiller ; garde les portes de ta bouche devant celle qui couche en ton sein.

 5 ¶ Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

6 Car le fils déshonore le père ; la fille s’élève contre sa mère ; la belle-fille contre sa belle-mère ; les ennemis d’un homme sont les hommes de sa maison.

 6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

7 ¶ C’est pourquoi je regarderai vers le SEIGNEUR, j’attendrai pour le Dieu de mon salut ; mon Dieu m’entendra.

 7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

8 ¶ Ne te réjouis pas sur moi, ô mon ennemie si je tombe, je me relèverai ; si je suis assise dans les ténèbres, le SEIGNEUR me sera une lumière.

 8 ¶ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

9 Je supporterai l’indignation du SEIGNEUR, parce que j’ai péché contre lui, jusqu’à ce qu’il plaide ma cause et qu’il rende jugement pour moi il me conduira à la lumière, et je contemplerai sa rectitude.

 9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

10 Alors elle qui est mon ennemie le verra, et la honte la couvrira, elle qui me disait : Où est le SEIGNEUR, ton Dieu ? Mes yeux la contempleront ; maintenant elle sera piétinée comme la boue des rues.

 10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

11 Au jour où tes murs doivent être bâtis, en ce jour-là le décret sera déplacé bien loin.

 11 In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

12 En ce jour-là aussi il viendra même jusqu’à toi, d’Assyrie et des villes fortifiées, et depuis la forteresse même jusqu’au fleuve, et d’une mer à l’autre, et de montagne en montagne.

 12 In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

13 Malgré tout le pays sera ravagé à cause de ceux qui y demeurent, et pour le fruit de leurs actions.

 13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

14 ¶ Nourris ton peuple avec ton bâton, le troupeau de ton héritage, qui demeure seul dans la forêt, au milieu du Carmel ; qu’ils se nourrissent en Bashan (Bassam) et en Gilead (Galaad), comme aux jours d’autrefois.

 14 ¶ Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

15 Comme aux jours où tu sortis du pays d’Égypte, je lui montrerai des choses merveilleuses.

 15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

16 ¶ Les nations verront, et seront déconcertées à cause de toute leur puissance ; elles mettront leur main sur leur bouche, leurs oreilles seront sourdes.

 16 ¶ The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

17 Elles lécheront la poussière comme le serpent ; elles sortiront de leurs trous comme les vers de la terre, elles seront effrayées devant le SEIGNEUR, notre Dieu, et auront peur à cause de toi.

 17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.

18 Qui est un Dieu comme toi, qui pardonne l’iniquité, et passe par-dessus la transgression du reste de son héritage ? Il ne retient pas à toujours son courroux, parce qu’il se plait à faire miséricorde.

 18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

19 Il se retournera, il aura compassion de nous, il maîtrisera nos iniquités ; et tu jetteras tous leurs péchés dans les profondeurs de la mer.

 19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

20 Tu exécuteras ta vérité à Jacob, et ta miséricorde à Abraham, que tu as jurée à nos pères, depuis les jours d’autrefois.

 20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.
