1 Et le SEIGNEUR parla à Moïse dans le désert du Sinaï, dans le tabernacle de la congrégation, au premier jour du second mois, de la seconde année après qu’ils sortirent du pays d’Égypte disant:

 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Relevez la somme de toute la congrégation des enfants d’Israël, d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, tous les mâles, par listes de personnes,

 2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;

3 Depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux d’Israël, qui peuvent aller à la guerre, vous les compterez selon leurs armées, toi et Aaron.

 3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

4 Et il y aura avec vous un homme de chaque tribu, chaque chef de la maison de ses pères.

 4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

5 ¶ Et ce sont ici les noms des hommes qui se tiendront avec vous. De la tribu de Reuben (Ruben) : Elizur (Elitsur), le fils de Shedeur ;

 5 ¶ And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 De Simeon (Siméon), Shelumiel, le fils de Zurishaddai (Tsurishaddaï) ;

 6 Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 De Judah (Juda) : Nahshon (Nahasshon), le fils d’Amminadab ;

 7 Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 D’Issachar (Issacar) : Nethaneel (Nathanaël), le fils de Zuar ;

 8 Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.

9 De Zebulun (Zabulon) : Eliab, le fils de Helon ;

 9 Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.

10 Des enfants de Joseph : d’Ephraim (Éphraïm) : Elishama, le fils d’Ammihud ; De Manaseh (Mannasé) : Gamaliel, le fils de Pedahzur ;

 10 Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 De Benjamin : Abidan, le fils de Gideoni (Gédéon) ;

 11 Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 De Dan : Ahiezer, le fils d’Ammishaddai ;

 12 Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 De Asher (Asser) : Pagiel (Paguiel), le fils d’Ocran ;

 13 Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.

14 De Gad : Eliasaph, le fils de Dehuel ;

 14 Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 De Naphtali (Nephtali) : Ahira, le fils d’Enan.

 15 Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.

16 C’étaient là les célèbres de la congrégation, princes des tribus de leurs pères, les chefs des milliers d’Israël.

 16 These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

17 ¶ Et Moïse et Aaron prirent ces hommes qui avaient été désignés par leurs noms ;

 17 ¶ And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:

18 Et ils rassemblèrent toute la congrégation, le premier jour du second mois, et ils déclarèrent leurs extractions d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre des noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, selon leurs listes de personnes ;

 18 And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.

19 Comme le SEIGNEUR l’avait commandé à Moïse, ainsi il les compta dans le désert de Sinaï.

 19 As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 Et les enfants de Reuben (Ruben), le fils aîné d’Israël, selon leurs générations, d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre des noms, selon leurs listes de personnes, tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 20 And the children of Reuben, Israel’s eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

21 Ceux qui furent comptés, dis-je, de la tribu de Reuben (Ruben), furent quarante-six mille cinq-cents.

 21 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

22 ¶ Des enfants de Simeon (Siméon), selon leurs générations, d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, ceux qui furent comptés, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, selon leurs listes de personnes, tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 22 ¶ Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

23 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Simeon (Siméon), qui furent comptés, furent cinquante-neuf mille trois cents.

 23 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

24 ¶ Des enfants de Gad, selon leurs générations, d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 24 ¶ Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

25 Ceux, dis-je, qui furent comptés de la tribu de Gad, furent quarante-cinq mille six cent cinquante.

 25 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

26 ¶ Des enfants de Judah (Juda), selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 26 ¶ Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

27 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Judah (Juda), qui furent comptés, furent soixante-quatorze mille six cents.

 27 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

28 ¶ Des enfants d’Issachar (Issacar), selon leurs générations, d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 28 ¶ Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

29 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu d’Issachar (Issacar), qui furent comptés, furent cinquante-quatre mille quatre cents.

 29 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

30 ¶ Des enfants de Zebulun (Zabulon), selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 30 ¶ Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

31 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Zebulun (Zabulon), qui furent comptés, furent cinquante-sept mille quatre cents.

 31 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

32 ¶ Des enfants de Joseph, c’est-à-dire, des enfants d’Ephraim (Éphraïm), selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 32 ¶ Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

33 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu d’Ephraim (Éphraïm), qui furent comptés, furent quarante mille cinq-cents.

 33 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.

34 ¶ Des enfants de Manaseh (Mannasé), selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 34 ¶ Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

35 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Manaseh (Mannasé), qui furent comptés, furent trente-deux mille deux cents.

 35 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

36 ¶ Des enfants de Benjamin, selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 36 ¶ Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

37 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Benjamin, qui furent comptés, furent trente-cinq mille quatre cents.

 37 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

38 ¶ Des enfants de Dan, selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 38 ¶ Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

39 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Dan, qui furent comptés, furent soixante-deux mille sept cents.

 39 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

40 ¶ Les fils d’Asher (Asser), selon leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 40 ¶ Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

41 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu d’Asher (Asser), qui furent comptés, furent quarante et un mille cinq-cents.

 41 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

42 ¶ Des enfants de Naphtali (Nephtali), dans toutes leurs générations d’après leurs familles, selon la maison de leurs pères, suivant le nombre de leurs noms, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre.

 42 ¶ Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

43 Ceux, dis-je, de la tribu de Naphtali (Nephtali), qui furent comptés, furent cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.

 43 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

44 Ce sont là ceux qui furent comptés, lesquels Moïse et Aaron comptèrent, ainsi que les princes d’Israël, douze hommes, chacun étant sur la maison de son père.

 44 These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

45 Ainsi étaient tous ceux des enfants d’Israël qui furent comptés, selon la maison de leurs pères, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux, en Israël, qui pouvaient aller à la guerre,

 45 So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;

46 Tous ceux, dis-je, qui furent comptés, furent six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante.

 46 Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

47 ¶ Mais les Lévites, selon la tribu de leurs pères, ne furent pas comptés avec eux.

 47 ¶ But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 Car le SEIGNEUR avait parlé à Moïse disant :

 48 For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,

49 Seulement, tu ne compteras pas la tribu de Levi (Lévi), et tu n’en relèveras pas la somme parmi les enfants d’Israël ;

 49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

50 Mais tu commettras les Lévites sur le tabernacle du témoignage, et sur tous ses récipients, et sur toutes les choses qui lui appartiennent ils porteront le tabernacle, et tous ses récipients, et ils en feront le service ; et camperont autour du tabernacle.

 50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

51 Et quand le tabernacle avancera, les Lévites le démonteront ; et quand le tabernacle devra être dressé, les Lévites l’érigeront ; et l’étranger qui en approchera sera mis à mort.

 51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

52 Et les enfants d’Israël camperont dans leurs tentes, et chacun près de son étendard, de part en part de leurs armées.

 52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.

53 Mais les Lévites camperont autour du tabernacle du témoignage, afin qu’il n’y ait aucune colère sur la congrégation des enfants d’Israël ; et les Lévites auront la garde du tabernacle du témoignage.

 53 But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

54 Et les enfants d’Israël firent selon tout ce que le SEIGNEUR avait commandé à Moïse ; ils firent ainsi.

 54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
