1 Et le SEIGNEUR parla à Moïse et à Aaron disant:

 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 C’est ici l’ordonnance de la loi que le SEIGNEUR a commandée, en disant: Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et qu’ils t’apportent une génisse rousse, sans tache, qui n’ait pas de défaut et qui n’ait jamais porté le joug.

 2 This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

3 Et vous la donnerez à Eleazar, le prêtre, afin qu’il la mène hors du camp, et on l’égorgera en sa présence.

 3 And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

4 Et Eleazar, le prêtre, prendra de son sang avec son doigt, et il répandra sept fois de son sang, directement devant le tabernacle de la congrégation.

 4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

5 Et on brûlera la génisse devant ses yeux ; il brûlera sa peau, et sa chair et son sang, avec ses excréments.

 5 And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

6 Et le prêtre prendra du bois de cèdre, de l’hysope et de l’écarlate, et les jettera au milieu du feu où brûlera la génisse.

 6 And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

7 Puis le prêtre lavera ses vêtements et il baignera sa chair dans l’eau, et après, il rentrera dans le camp ; et le prêtre sera souillé jusqu’au soir.

 7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

8 Et celui qui l’aura brûlée, lavera ses vêtements dans l’eau et baignera sa chair dans l’eau, et il sera souillé jusqu’au soir.

 8 And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

9 Et un homme qui est net ramassera les cendres de la génisse, et les déposera hors du camp dans un lieu net ; et on la gardera pour la congrégation des enfants d’Israël, pour en faire l’eau de séparation c’est une purification pour le péché.

 9 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.

10 Et celui qui aura ramassé la cendre de la génisse lavera ses vêtements, et sera souillé jusqu’au soir ; et ce sera pour les enfants d’Israël et pour l’étranger qui séjourne au milieu d’eux, un statut pour toujours.

 10 And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

11 ¶ Celui qui touche le corps mort de quelque homme que ce soit, sera souillé sept jours.

 11 ¶ He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

12 Il se purifiera avec elle eau le troisième jour, et au septième jour il sera net ; mais s’il ne se purifie pas le troisième jour, alors au septième jour, il ne sera pas net.

 12 He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

13 Quiconque touche le corps mort de quelque homme qui sera mort, et ne se sera pas purifié, a souillé le tabernacle du SEIGNEUR ; et cette âme-là sera retranchée d’Israël ; parce que l’eau de séparation n’a pas été répandue sur elle, elle sera souillée ; son impureté est encore sur elle.

 13 Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

14 C’est ici la loi Quand un homme meurt dans une tente, quiconque entre dans la tente, et tout ce qui est dans la tente, sera souillé sept jours.

 14 This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

15 Et tout ustensile découvert, sur lequel il n’y a pas de couvercle attaché, est souillé.

 15 And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 Et quiconque touchera, dans les champs, un homme tué par l’épée, ou un mort, ou des ossements humains, ou une tombe, sera souillé sept jours.

 16 And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

17 Et on prendra, pour une personne souillée, de la cendre de la génisse brûlée en purification pour le péché, et on mettra dessus de l’eau courante, dans un récipient.

 17 And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

18 Et un homme net prendra de l’hysope, et la trempera dans l’eau et en répandra sur la tente, sur tous les récipients et sur les personnes qui étaient là, et sur celui qui a touché un ossement, ou un homme tué, ou un mort, ou une tombe.

 18 And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

19 Et l’homme net répandra sur l’homme souillé, au troisième jour et au septième jour ; et le septième il se purifiera lui-même, et lavera ses vêtements, et se baignera dans l’eau ; et le soir il sera net.

 19 And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

20 Mais l’homme qui sera souillé et ne se purifiera pas lui-même, cette âme sera retranchée du milieu de la congrégation, parce qu’il a souillé le sanctuaire du SEIGNEUR l’eau de séparation n’a pas été répandue sur lui, il est souillé.

 20 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

21 Et ce sera pour eux un statut perpétuel, que celui qui répand de l’eau de séparation lavera ses vêtements ; et celui qui touchera l’eau de séparation sera souillé jusqu’au soir.

 21 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

22 Et tout ce que la personne souillée touchera, sera souillé ; et l’âme qui le touche, sera souillée jusqu’au soir.

 22 And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
