Au chef musicien, sur Shoshannim, Un Psaume de David.

 To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.

1 Sauve-moi, ô Dieu, car les eaux sont entrées jusque dans mon âme.

 1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

2 Je m’enfonce dans un bourbier profond, où on ne peut se tenir debout: je suis entré dans des eaux profondes, où les flots me submergent.

 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

3 Je suis fatigué de crier: ma gorge est desséchée: mes yeux faiblissent tandis que j’attends mon Dieu.

 3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

4 Ceux qui me haïssent sans cause sont plus nombreux que les cheveux de ma tête: ceux qui voudraient me détruire, étant mes ennemis à tort, sont puissants: alors je rendis ce que je ne leur pris pas.

 4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

5 Ô Dieu, tu connais mon absurdité; et mes péchés ne te sont pas cachés.

 5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

6 Ne laisse pas ceux qui s’attendent à toi, ô Seigneur DIEU des armées, être honteux à cause de moi: ne laisse pas ceux qui te cherchent, être déconcertés à cause de moi, ô Dieu d’Israël.

 6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

7 Parce que pour toi j’ai porté l’outrage; la honte a couvert mon visage.

 7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

8 Je suis devenu un étranger auprès de mes frères, et un inconnu auprès des enfants de ma mère.

 8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.

9 Car le zèle de ta maison m’a dévoré; et les outrages de ceux qui t’outragèrent sont tombés sur moi.

 9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

10 Lorsque je pleurais et châtiais mon âme en jeûnant, cela me fut un outrage.

 10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

11 Je fis aussi de la toile à sac mon vêtement; et je devins un proverbe pour eux.

 11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

12 Ceux qui sont assis au portail parlent contre moi; et je fus la chanson des ivrognes.

 12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

13 Mais quant à moi, ma prière va à toi, ô SEIGNEUR, à un moment acceptable: ô Dieu, dans la multiplicité de ta miséricorde entends-moi, dans la vérité de ton salut.

 13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

14 Délivre-moi du bourbier, et ne me laisse pas m’enfoncer: fais que je sois délivré de ceux qui me haïssent, et des eaux profondes.

 14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Ne laisse pas le courant des eaux me submerger, ne laisse pas non plus la profondeur m’engloutir, et ne laisse pas la fosse refermer sa bouche sur moi.

 15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Entends-moi, ô SEIGNEUR; car ta tendre compassion est bonne: tourne-toi vers moi selon la multitude de tes tendres miséricordes.

 16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

17 Et ne cache pas ta face à ton serviteur; car je suis dans la difficulté: entends-moi rapidement.

 17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

18 Approche-toi de mon âme, et rachète-la: délivre-moi à cause de mes ennemis.

 18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

19 Tu as connu mon outrage, et ma honte, et mon déshonneur; mes adversaires sont tous devant toi.

 19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

20 L’outrage a brisé mon cœur; et je suis plein de tristesse: et je cherchai quelques personnes pour prendre pitié, mais il n’y en avait aucune; et des consolateurs, mais je n’en trouvai aucun.

 20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

21 Ils me donnèrent aussi du fiel pour ma nourriture: et pour ma soif ils me donnèrent du vinaigre à boire.

 21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

22 Que leur table devienne un piège devant eux: et que ce qui aurait dû être pour leur bienêtre, devienne un piège.

 22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

23 Que leurs yeux s’obscurcissent, afin qu’ils ne voient plus; et fais trembler continuellement leurs reins.

 23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

24 Répands ton indignation sur eux, et que ta furieuse colère les saisisse.

 24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

25 Que leur habitation soit désertée; et ne laisse personne demeurer dans leurs tentes.

 25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

26 Car ils persécutent celui que tu as frappé; et ils racontent la peine de ceux que tu as blessés.

 26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

27 Ajoute iniquité à leur iniquité: et ne les laisse pas entrer dans ta droiture.

 27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

28 Qu’ils soient effacés du livre des vivants, et ne soient pas inscrits avec les hommes droits.

 28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

29 Mais je suis pauvre et triste: que ton salut, ô Dieu, me place dans les hauteurs.

 29 But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

30 Je louerai le nom de Dieu par un cantique, et le magnifierai avec remerciement.

 30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

31 Cela aussi plaira plus au SEIGNEUR qu’un bœuf ou un bouvillon qui a des cornes et des sabots.

 31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

32 Les humbles verront cela, et seront contents: et votre cœur vivra, vous qui cherchez Dieu.

 32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

33 Car le SEIGNEUR entend les pauvres, et ne méprise pas ses prisonniers.

 33 For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

34 Que le ciel et la terre le louent, les mers, et tout ce qui s’y meut.

 34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

35 Car Dieu sauvera Sion, et bâtira les villes de Judah: afin qu’ils puissent y demeurer, et l’avoir en possession.

 35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

36 La semence de ses serviteurs aussi l’héritera: et ceux qui aiment son nom demeureront en elle.

 36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
