1 Ô remerciez le SEIGNEUR, car il est bon: car sa miséricorde dure pour toujours.

 1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Que les rachetés du SEIGNEUR le disent, lesquels il a rachetés de la main de l’ennemi;

 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

3 Et qu’il a rassemblés des pays, de l’est, et de l’ouest, du nord et du sud.

 3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

4 Ils erraient dans le désert, dans un chemin solitaire; ils ne trouvaient aucune ville pour y demeurer.

 4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

5 Affamés et assoiffés, leur âme défaillait en eux.

 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 Puis ils crièrent au SEIGNEUR dans leur difficulté, et il les délivra de leurs détresses.

 6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

7 Et il les conduisit par le bon chemin, pour qu’ils puissent aller dans une ville d’habitation.

 7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Oh si les hommes louaient le SEIGNEUR pour sa bonté, et pour ses merveilleuses œuvres envers les enfants des hommes!

 8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 Car il satisfait l’âme désireuse, et remplit l’âme affamée avec de la bonté.

 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

10 Comme ceux qui sont assis dans l’obscurité et dans l’ombre de la mort, étant retenus dans l’affliction et dans le fer;

 10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

11 Parce qu’ils se rebellèrent contre les paroles de Dieu, et dédaignèrent le conseil du plus Haut:

 11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:

12 Par conséquent il abaissa leur cœur par le travail; ils tombèrent, et il n’y eut personne pour les aider.

 12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Puis ils crièrent au SEIGNEUR dans leur difficulté, et il les sauva de leurs détresses.

 13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

14 Il les fit sortir de l’obscurité et de l’ombre de la mort, et brisa leurs liens en deux.

 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

15 Oh si les hommes louaient le SEIGNEUR pour sa bonté, et pour ses merveilleuses œuvres envers les enfants des hommes!

 15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

16 Car il a brisé les portails de cuivre jaune, et coupé les barreaux de fer en deux.

 16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

17 Les insensés, à cause de leur transgression et à cause de leurs iniquités, sont affligés.

 17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

18 Leur âme abhorre toutes sortes de nourriture; et ils s’approchent des portails de la mort.

 18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

19 Puis ils crient au SEIGNEUR dans leur difficulté, et il les sauve de leurs détresses.

 19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.

20 Il envoya sa parole, et les guérit, et les délivra de leurs destructions.

 20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

21 Oh si les hommes louaient le SEIGNEUR pour sa bonté, et pour ses merveilleuses œuvres envers les enfants des hommes!

 21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

22 Et qu’ils sacrifient des sacrifices de remerciements, et déclarent ses œuvres en se réjouissant.

 22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

23 Ceux qui descendent sur la mer dans des navires, qui font des affaires sur les grandes eaux;

 23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;

24 Ceux-là voient les œuvres du SEIGNEUR, et ses prodiges dans les grands fonds.

 24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

25 Car il commande, et fait lever le vent orageux qui soulève ses vagues.

 25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

26 Elles montent jusqu’au ciel, elles redescendent jusque dans les profondeurs: leur âme se fond à cause de la difficulté.

 26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

27 Ils chancellent çà et là, et titubent comme un homme ivre, et ne savent plus quoi faire.

 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.

28 Puis ils crient au SEIGNEUR dans leur difficulté, et il les fait sortir de leurs détresses.

 28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

29 Il rend la tempête calme, si bien que les vagues sont tranquilles.

 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

30 Alors ils sont contents parce qu’elles sont paisibles: ainsi il les conduit au havre qu’ils désiraient.

 30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

31 Oh si les hommes louaient le SEIGNEUR pour sa bonté, et pour ses merveilleuses œuvres envers les enfants des hommes!

 31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

32 Qu’ils l’exaltent aussi dans la congrégation du peuple, et le louent dans l’assemblée des anciens.

 32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

33 Il change les rivières en désert, et les sources d’eaux en un sol aride;

 33 He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

34 Une terre fertile en terre stérile, à cause de l’immoralité de ceux qui y demeurent.

 34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

35 Il change le désert en une étendue d’eau, et le sol aride en sources d’eaux.

 35 He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

36 Et il y fait demeurer les affamés, afin qu’ils puissent préparer une ville d’habitation.

 36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

37 Et ensemencer les champs et planter des vignobles, lesquels peuvent produire des fruits.

 37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

38 Il les bénit aussi, si bien qu’ils se sont considérablement multipliés; et il ne laisse pas leur bétail décroître.

 38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

39 De nouveau, ils sont diminués et abaissés à cause de l’oppression, l’affliction, et la douleur.

 39 Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

40 Il verse le mépris sur les princes, et les fait errer dans le désert où il n’y a pas de chemin.

 40 He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.

41 Malgré tout il relève le pauvre de l’affliction, et fait de lui des familles comme un troupeau.

 41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.

42 Les hommes droits le verront et se réjouiront: et toute iniquité fermera la bouche.

 42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

43 Quiconque est sage, et observera ces choses, de même ceux-là comprendront les bontés compatissantes du SEIGNEUR.

 43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
