1 Et comme ils parlaient au peuple, les prêtres, et le capitaine du temple, et les Sadducéens, vinrent sur eux,

 1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

2 Étant navrés qu’ils enseignaient le peuple, et prêchaient la résurrection d’entre les morts par Jésus.

 2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3 Et ils mirent les mains sur eux, et les retinrent jusqu’au jour suivant: car c’était déjà le soir.

 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

4 Quoi qu’il en soit beaucoup de ceux qui avaient entendu la parole crurent; et le nombre des hommes était d’environ cinq mille.

 4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

5 ¶ Et il arriva le lendemain, que leurs dirigeants, et anciens et scribes,

 5 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

6 Et Anne, le grand prêtre, et Caïphe, et Jean, et Alexandre et tous ceux qui étaient de la parenté du grand prêtre, s’assemblèrent à Jérusalem.

 6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

7 Et lorsqu’ils les firent mettre au milieu d’eux, ils demandèrent, Par quel pouvoir, ou par quel nom, avez-vous fait ceci?

 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

8 Alors Pierre, rempli de l’Esprit Saint, leur dit: Vous dirigeants du peuple, et anciens d’Israël,

 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

9 Si aujourd’hui nous sommes examinés pour la bonne action faite à l’homme perclus, par quel moyen il est rendu bien portant;

 9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

10 Qu’il soit connu à vous tous, et à tout le peuple d’Israël, que par le nom de Jésus Christ de Nazareth, que vous avez crucifié, que Dieu ressuscita d’entre les morts, c’est-à-dire par lui que cet homme se tient ici devant vous bien portant.

 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 C’est la pierre que vous les bâtisseurs avez traitée comme moins que rien, laquelle est devenue la principale du coin.

 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 D’ailleurs il n’y a de salut en aucun autre: car il n’y a aucun autre nom sous le ciel, donné parmi les hommes, par lequel nous devons être sauvés.

 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

13 ¶ Or lorsqu’ils virent la hardiesse de Pierre et de Jean, et perçurent qu’ils étaient des hommes sans instruction et simples, ils furent surpris; et ils reconnaissaient qu’ils avaient été avec Jésus.

 13 ¶ Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

14 Et regardant l’homme qui avait été guéri, se tenant debout avec eux, ils ne pouvaient rien rétorquer à cela.

 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

15 Mais lorsqu’ils leur eurent commandé de sortir hors du conseil, ils conférèrent entre eux,

 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

16 Disant: Que ferons-nous à ces hommes? car effectivement il est manifeste à tous ceux qui demeurent à Jérusalem; qu’un miracle notoire a été fait par eux, et nous ne pouvons le nier.

 16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

17 Mais afin que cela ne se répande pas davantage parmi le peuple, menaçons-les strictement, qu’ils ne parlent désormais à aucun homme en ce nom-là.

 17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

18 Et ils les appelèrent et leur commandèrent de ne plus parler, ni d’enseigner en aucune manière dans le nom de Jésus.

 18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

19 Mais Pierre et Jean répondirent et leur dirent: S’il est bon à la vue de Dieu de vous prêter l’oreille plutôt que Dieu, jugez-en.

 19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

20 Car nous ne pouvons que parler des choses que nous avons vues et entendues.

 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

21 Ainsi lorsqu’ils les eurent menacés davantage, ils les laissèrent aller, ne trouvant pas comment ils pourraient les punir, à cause du peuple: car tous les hommes glorifiaient Dieu pour ce qui avait été fait.

 21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

22 Car l’homme sur lequel avait été faite cette miraculeuse guérison, avait plus de quarante ans.

 22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

23 ¶ Et ayant été relâchés, ils allèrent vers les leurs, et rapportèrent tout ce que les principaux prêtres et les anciens leur avaient dit.

 23 ¶ And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

24 Et lorsqu’ils entendirent cela, ils élevèrent leur voix à Dieu d’un commun accord, et dirent: Seigneur, tu es Dieu, lequel a fait le ciel, et la terre, et la mer, et tout ce qu’il y a en eux:

 24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

25 Qui par la bouche de ton serviteur David, a dit, Pourquoi les païens s’enragent-ils, et le peuple imagine-t-il de vaines choses?

 25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

26 Les rois de la terre se sont levés, et les dirigeants se sont assemblés contre le Seigneur, et contre son Christ.

 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

27 Car en vérité contre ton saint enfant Jésus, que tu as oint, tous deux Hérode et Ponce Pilate, avec les Gentils et le peuple d’Israël, se sont assemblés,

 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

28 Pour faire tout ce que ta main et ton conseil avaient déterminé d’avance devoir être fait.

 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

29 Et maintenant, Seigneur, regarde leurs menaces: et accorde à tes serviteurs qu’ils puissent avec toute hardiesse prononcer ta parole,

 29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30 En étendant ta main pour guérir; et que des signes et des prodiges puissent être faits par le nom de ton saint enfant Jésus.

 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31 ¶ Et lorsqu’ils eurent prié, le lieu où ils étaient assemblés trembla; et ils furent tous remplis de l’Esprit Saint, et ils prononçaient la parole de Dieu avec hardiesse.

 31 ¶ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32 Et la multitude de ceux qui croyaient n’était qu’un cœur et qu’une âme: et aucun d’eux ne disait que les choses qu’il possédait étaient les siennes; mais ils avaient toutes choses en commun.

 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33 Et avec grand pouvoir les apôtres rendaient témoignage de la résurrection du Seigneur Jésus: et une grande grâce était sur eux tous.

 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34 Il n’y avait non plus personne parmi eux dans le besoin: car tous ceux qui possédaient des terres ou des maisons les vendaient, et apportaient le prix des choses qu’ils avaient vendues,

 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35 Et les déposaient aux pieds des apôtres: et la distribution était faite à chaque homme selon qu’il en avait besoin.

 35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

36 Et Joses, qui par les apôtres fut surnommé Barnabas (ce qui est interprété, Le fils de consolation), un Lévite et originaire du pays de Chypre,

 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

37 Ayant une terre la vendit, et en apporta l’argent, et le déposa aux pieds des apôtres.

 37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
