1 Et Saul, respirant encore menaces et carnage contre les disciples du Seigneur, alla vers le grand prêtre,

 1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2 Et désira de lui des lettres pour les synagogues de Damas, afin que s’il trouvait quelques personnes de ce chemin, qu’ils soient hommes ou femmes, il puisse les amener liés à Jérusalem.

 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

3 Et tandis qu’il voyageait, il arriva près de Damas: et soudain une lumière venant du ciel brilla tout autour de lui:

 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4 Et il tomba à terre, et entendit une voix, lui disant: Saul, Saul, pourquoi me persécutes-tu?

 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 Et il dit: Qui es-tu, Seigneur? Et le Seigneur dit: Je suis Jésus que tu persécutes: il est dur pour toi de regimber contre les aiguillons.

 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6 Et lui tremblant et étonné, dit: Seigneur, que veux-tu que je fasse? Et le Seigneur lui dit: Lève-toi, et va dans la ville et il te sera dit ce que tu dois faire.

 6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

7 Et les hommes qui voyageaient avec lui se tinrent sans voix, entendant une voix, mais ne voyant aucun homme.

 7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

8 Et Saul se leva de terre; et lorsque ses yeux furent ouverts, il ne vit aucun homme: mais ils le conduisirent par la main, et le menèrent à Damas.

 8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

9 Et il fut trois jours sans voir, et sans manger ni boire.

 9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

10 ¶ Et il y avait à Damas un certain disciple, nommé Ananias; et le Seigneur lui dit dans une vision: Ananias. Et il dit: Voici, je suis ici, Seigneur.

 10 ¶ And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

11 Et le Seigneur lui dit: Lève-toi, et va dans la rue qui est appelée Droite, et requiers dans la maison de Judas un homme appelé Saul, de Tarse: car, voici, il prie,

 11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12 Et a vu dans une vision un homme nommé Ananias entrant, et mettant sa main sur lui, afin qu’il puisse recouvrer sa vue.

 12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13 Alors Ananias répondit: Seigneur, j’ai entendu dire par beaucoup au sujet de cet homme, combien il a fait de mal à tes saints à Jérusalem:

 13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14 Et ici il a autorité de la part des principaux prêtres de lier tous ceux qui font appel à ton nom.

 14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15 Mais le Seigneur lui dit: Va: car il m’est un vase choisi, pour porter mon nom devant les Gentils, et les rois, et les enfants d’Israël:

 15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16 Car je lui montrerai quelles grandes choses il doit souffrir pour mon nom.

 16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

17 Et Ananias alla, et entra dans la maison; et mettant ses mains sur lui, dit: Frère Saul, le Seigneur, c’est-à-dire Jésus, qui t’est apparu sur le chemin comme tu venais, m’a envoyé, pour que tu puisses recevoir ta vue, et être rempli de l’Esprit Saint.

 17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

18 Et immédiatement il tomba de ses yeux comme si cela avait été des écailles: et il reçut la vue tout de suite, et se leva, et fut baptisé.

 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

19 Et lorsqu’il reçut de la nourriture, il fut fortifié. Alors Saul fut quelques jours avec les disciples qui étaient à Damas.

 19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

20 Et aussitôt il prêcha Christ dans les synagogues, qu’il est le Fils de Dieu.

 20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

21 Mais tous ceux qui l’entendaient étaient stupéfaits et disaient: N’est-il pas celui qui a tué ceux qui font appel à ce nom à Jérusalem, et était venu ici avec cette intention, qu’il puisse les emmener liés aux principaux prêtres?

 21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

22 Mais Saul reprenait de plus en plus de vigueur, et il décontenançait les Juifs qui demeuraient à Damas, prouvant que celui-ci est vraiment Christ.

 22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

23 ¶ Et après que beaucoup de jours soient révolus, les Juifs tinrent conseil pour le tuer:

 23 ¶ And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

24 Mais leur guet-apens fut connu de Saul. Et ils surveillaient les portes jour et nuit pour le tuer.

 24 But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

25 Alors les disciples le prirent de nuit, et le descendirent par la muraille dans un panier.

 25 Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

26 Et lorsque Saul fut arrivé à Jérusalem, il essaya de se joindre aux disciples: mais ils avaient tous peur de lui, et ne croyaient pas qu’il fût un disciple.

 26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

27 Mais Barnabas le prit, et le mena aux apôtres, et leur déclara comment il avait vu le Seigneur sur le chemin, et qu’il lui avait parlé, et comment il avait prêché avec hardiesse à Damas dans le nom de Jésus.

 27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

28 Et il allait et venait avec eux à Jérusalem.

 28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

29 Et il parlait avec hardiesse dans le nom du Seigneur Jésus, et débattait avec les Grecs: mais ils cherchaient à le tuer.

 29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

30 Ce que lorsque les frères le surent, ils le descendirent à Césarée, et l’envoyèrent à Tarse.

 30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

31 Alors les églises eurent du repos d’un bout à l’autre de la Judée et la Galilée et la Samarie, et étaient édifiées; et marchant dans la crainte du Seigneur, et dans le réconfort de l’Esprit Saint, se multipliaient.

 31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

32 ¶ Et il arriva, comme Pierre traversait toutes les régions, qu’il descendit aussi vers les saints qui demeuraient à Lydde.

 32 ¶ And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

33 Et là il trouva un certain homme, nommé Énée, lequel depuis huit ans avait gardé le lit, et était atteint de paralysie.

 33 And there he found a certain man named Æneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

34 Et Pierre lui dit: Énée, Jésus Christ te rend bien portant: lève-toi, et fais ton lit. Et il se leva immédiatement.

 34 And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

35 Et tous ceux qui demeuraient à Lydde et à Saron le virent, et se tournèrent vers le Seigneur.

 35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36 ¶ Or il y avait à Jaffa une certaine disciple, nommée Tabitha, qui, par interprétation est appelée Dorcas: cette femme était pleine de bonnes actions et d’aumônes qu’elle faisait.

 36 ¶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

37 Et il arriva en ces jours-là, qu’elle tomba malade, et mourut: laquelle lorsqu’ils l’eurent lavée, ils la placèrent dans une chambre en haut.

 37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

38 Et puisque Lydde était près de Jaffa, et les disciples avaient entendu que Pierre y était, ils envoyèrent vers lui deux hommes, le priant qu’il ne tarde pas de venir à eux.

 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39 Alors Pierre se leva, et alla avec eux. Lorsqu’il fut arrivé, ils le menèrent dans la chambre en haut: et toutes les veuves se tenaient près de lui, en pleurant, et en lui montrant les manteaux et les habits que Dorcas avait faits, lorsqu’elle était avec elles.

 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40 Mais Pierre les fit toutes sortir, et s’agenouilla, et pria; et se tournant vers le corps, dit: Tabitha, lève-toi. Et elle ouvrit ses yeux: et quand elle vit Pierre, elle s’assit.

 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 Et il lui donna sa main, et la leva, et lorsqu’il eut appelé les saints et les veuves, la présenta vivante.

 41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

42 Et cela fut connu à travers tout Jaffa; et beaucoup crurent au Seigneur.

 42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

43 Et il arriva qu’il s’attarda beaucoup de jours à Jaffa, chez un nommé Simon, un tanneur.

 43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
