1 Et les apôtres et les frères qui étaient en Judée et entendirent que les Gentils avaient aussi reçu la parole de Dieu.

 1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judæa heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

2 Et lorsque Pierre fut monté à Jérusalem, ceux qui étaient de la circoncision contestaient avec lui,

 2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

3 Disant: Tu es allé chez des hommes incirconcis, et tu as mangé avec eux.

 3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

4 Mais Pierre leur répéta l’affaire depuis le commencement, et l’exposa suivant l’ordre des faits, disant:

 4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

5 J’étais dans la ville de Jaffa priant: et en extase je vis une vision. Une sorte de vase descendit, comme si c’était un grand drap, qui s’abaissait du ciel par les quatre coins; et il vint jusqu’à moi:

 5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

6 Sur lequel lorsque j’y avais fixé mes yeux, je considérai et vis des quadrupèdes de la terre, et des bêtes sauvages, et des choses rampantes, et des rapaces.

 6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

7 Et j’entendis une voix me disant: Lève-toi, Pierre; tue et mange.

 7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

8 Mais je répondis: Non pas, Seigneur: car rien d’ordinaire ni d’impur n’est entré dans ma bouche à aucun moment.

 8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

9 Mais la voix me répondit de nouveau du ciel: Ce que Dieu a épuré, n’appelle pas cela ordinaire.

 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

10 Et cela se fit trois fois: et tout fut retiré de nouveau dans le ciel.

 10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

11 Et, voici, immédiatement il y avait trois hommes, envoyés vers moi de Césarée, déjà arrivés à la maison où j’étais.

 11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cæsarea unto me.

12 Et l’Esprit me fit aller avec eux, sans douter. De plus ces six frères m’accompagnèrent, et nous sommes entrés dans la maison de l’homme:

 12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:

13 Et il nous montra comment il avait vu un ange dans sa maison, qui se tenait debout, et lui avait dit: Envoie des hommes à Jaffa, et appelle Simon dont le surnom est Pierre;

 13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

14 Qui te dira des paroles par lesquelles toi et toute ta maison vous serez sauvés.

 14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

15 Et comme je commençais à parler, l’Esprit Saint tomba sur eux, comme sur nous au commencement.

 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

16 Alors je me souvins de la parole du Seigneur, comment il avait dit, Jean en effet a baptisé avec l’eau; mais vous serez baptisés avec l’Esprit Saint.

 16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

17 D’autant que Dieu leur a donné le même don qu’il nous a fait, nous qui avons cru au Seigneur Jésus Christ; qui étais-je, moi, pour tenir tête à Dieu?

 17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

18 Quand ils entendirent ces choses, ils se turent et glorifièrent Dieu, disant: Alors Dieu a aussi accordé aux Gentils la repentance vers la vie.

 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

19 ¶ Or ceux qui avaient été dispersés de tous côtés par la persécution qui s’éleva au sujet d’Étienne, voyagèrent jusqu’en Phénicie, et à Chypre et à Antioche, ne prêchant la parole à personne qu’aux Juifs seulement.

 19 ¶ Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

20 Et quelques-uns d’entre eux étaient des hommes de Chypre et de Cyrène, lesquels, lorsqu’ils arrivèrent à Antioche, parlèrent aux Grecs, prêchant le Seigneur Jésus.

 20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

21 Et la main du Seigneur était avec eux: et un grand nombre crut et se tourna vers le Seigneur.

 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

22 ¶ Alors les nouvelles de ces choses vinrent aux oreilles de l’église qui était à Jérusalem: et ils envoyèrent Barnabas pour qu’il aille jusqu’à Antioche.

 22 ¶ Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

23 Qui, lorsqu’il arriva, et qu’il eut vu la grâce de Dieu, fut content, et les exhorta tous, afin qu’avec un cœur résolu, ils s’attachent au Seigneur.

 23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

24 Car il était un homme bon, et plein de l’Esprit Saint et de foi: et un grand nombre de personnes fut ajouté au Seigneur.

 24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

25 Puis Barnabas partit pour Tarse, pour chercher Saul:

 25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

26 Et lorsqu’il le trouva, il l’amena à Antioche. Et il arriva qu’ils s’assemblèrent une année entière avec l’église, et enseignèrent beaucoup de personnes. Et les disciples furent appelés Chrétiens pour la première fois à Antioche.

 26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

27 ¶ Et en ces jours-là, des prophètes vinrent de Jérusalem à Antioche.

 27 ¶ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

28 Et l’un d’eux, nommé Agabus, se leva, et signifia par l’Esprit qu’il y aurait une grande disette d’un bout à l’autre du monde: laquelle arriva en effet au temps de Claude César.

 28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cæsar.

29 Alors les disciples, chacun selon sa capacité, déterminèrent d’envoyer du secours aux frères qui demeuraient en Judée:

 29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judæa:

30 Ce qu’ils firent aussi, et l’envoyèrent aux anciens par les mains de Barnabas et de Saul.

 30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
