1 Or, il y avait dans l’église qui était à Antioche certains prophètes et enseignants; tels Barnabas, et Siméon qui était appelé Niger, et Lucius de Cyrène, et Manahem, lequel avait été élevé avec Hérode le tétrarque, et Saul.

 1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 Tandis qu’ils servaient le Seigneur et jeûnaient, l’Esprit Saint dit: Séparez-moi Barnabas et Saul pour l’œuvre à laquelle je les ai appelés.

 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 Et lorsqu’ils eurent jeûné et prié, et eurent posé leurs mains sur eux, ils les envoyèrent.

 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 ¶ Ainsi eux, étant envoyés par l’Esprit Saint, partirent pour Séleucie; et de là ils firent voile pour Chypre.

 4 ¶ So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 Et lorsqu’ils furent à Salamine, ils prêchèrent la parole de Dieu dans les synagogues des Juifs: et ils avaient aussi Jean pour leur ministre.

 5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

6 Et lorsqu’ils eurent traversé l’île jusqu’à Paphos, ils trouvèrent un certain sorcier, un faux prophète, un Juif, dont le nom était Bar-jésus:

 6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

7 Lequel était avec le député de la province, Sergius Paulus, un homme prudent; qui appela Barnabas et Saul, et désira entendre la parole de Dieu.

 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

8 Mais Elymas, le sorcier (car c’est ainsi que s’interprète son nom) leur tint tête, cherchant à détourner de la foi le député.

 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

9 Alors Saul (qui est aussi appelé Paul), rempli de l’Esprit Saint, fixa ses yeux sur lui,

 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

10 Et dit: Ô toi, plein de toute ruse et de toute méchanceté, toi enfant du diable, toi ennemi de toute droiture, ne cesseras-tu pas de pervertir les droits chemins du Seigneur?

 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 Et maintenant, voici, la main du Seigneur est sur toi, et tu seras aveugle, sans voir le soleil, pendant un temps. Et immédiatement il tomba sur lui une brume et une obscurité; et il allait çà et là, cherchant quelques personnes pour le guider par la main.

 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Alors le député, lorsqu’il vit ce qui avait été fait, crut, étant étonné par la doctrine du Seigneur.

 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 Or lorsque Paul et ses compagnons partirent de Paphos, ils vinrent à Perge en Pamphylie: et Jean les quittant, retourna à Jérusalem.

 13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

14 ¶ Mais lorsqu’ils furent partis de Perge, ils vinrent à Antioche de Pisidie, et entrèrent dans la synagogue, le jour du sabbat, et s’assirent.

 14 ¶ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 Et après la lecture de la loi et des prophètes, les dirigeants de la synagogue envoyèrent vers eux, disant: Vous, hommes et frères, si vous avez quelque parole d’exhortation pour le peuple, parlez.

 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 Alors Paul se leva et ayant fait signe de sa main, dit: Hommes d’Israël, et vous qui craignez Dieu, prêtez attention.

 16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 Le Dieu de ce peuple d’Israël choisit nos pères, et exalta le peuple lorsqu’ils demeuraient en tant qu’étrangers dans le pays d’Égypte, et il les en fit sortir avec un bras élevé.

 17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

18 Et pendant environ quarante ans, il supporta leur comportement dans le désert.

 18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 Et lorsqu’il eut détruit sept nations au pays de Canaan, il leur divisa leur pays par lot.

 19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

20 Et après cela, il leur donna des juges pendant environ quatre cent cinquante ans, jusqu’au prophète Samuel.

 20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

21 Et ensuite ils désirèrent un roi: et Dieu leur donna Saül le fils de Kis, un homme de la tribu de Benjamin, pendant quarante ans.

 21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

22 Et quand il le retira, il leur suscita David pour être leur roi; duquel aussi il rendit ce témoignage et dit, J’ai trouvé David le fils de Jessé, un homme suivant mon propre cœur, qui réalisera toute ma volonté.

 22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23 De la semence de cet homme Dieu a selon sa promesse, suscité à Israël un Sauveur, Jésus:

 23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

24 Lorsque Jean avant sa venue avait auparavant prêché le baptême de la repentance à tout le peuple d’Israël.

 24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 Et comme Jean réalisait sa course, il disait, Qui pensez-vous que je sois? Je ne suis pas lui. Mais voici, il en vient un après moi, dont je ne suis pas digne de délier les chaussures de ses pieds.

 25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 Hommes et frères, enfants de la souche d’Abraham, et quiconque parmi vous qui craint Dieu, à vous la parole de ce salut est envoyée.

 26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 Car ceux qui demeurent à Jérusalem, et leurs dirigeants, parce qu’ils ne le connaissaient pas, ni même les voix des prophètes qui sont lues chaque jour de sabbat, ils les ont réalisés en le condamnant.

 27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 Et bien qu’ils n’aient trouvé en lui aucun motif de le mettre à mort, cependant ils désirèrent de Pilate qu’il soit tué.

 28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 Et quand ils eurent réalisé tout ce qui a été écrit de lui, ils le descendirent de l’arbre, et le mirent dans un sépulcre.

 29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 Mais Dieu le ressuscita d’entre les morts:

 30 But God raised him from the dead:

31 Et il a été vu beaucoup de jours par ceux qui étaient montés avec lui de Galilée à Jérusalem, qui sont ses témoins envers le peuple.

 31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 Et nous vous déclarons d’heureuses nouvelles, comment la promesse qui avait été faite aux pères,

 32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 Dieu l’a réalisée envers nous, leurs enfants, en ce qu’il a ressuscité Jésus; comme il est aussi écrit dans le second psaume, Tu es mon Fils, aujourd’hui je t’ai engendré.

 33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 Et pour ce qui concerne qu’il l’ait ressuscité d’entre les morts, pour ne plus retourner à la corruption, il a dit de cette manière, Je vous donnerai les miséricordes certaines de David.

 34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 C’est pourquoi il dit aussi dans un autre psaume, Tu ne permettras pas que ton Seul Saint voie la corruption.

 35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 Car David, après qu’il ait servi sa propre génération par la volonté de Dieu, s’est endormi, et a été mis avec ses pères, et a vu la corruption:

 36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 Mais lui, que Dieu ressuscita, n’a pas vu la corruption.

 37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 ¶ Sachez-le donc, hommes et frères, que, par l'intermédiaire de cet homme le pardon des péchés vous est prêché:

 38 ¶ Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 Et par lui tous ceux qui croient sont justifiés de toutes les choses, dont vous ne pouviez être justifiés par la loi de Moïse.

 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Prenez donc garde de peur que ne vienne sur vous ce qui est dit dans les prophètes;

 40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 Voyez, vous méprisants, et soyez surpris, et périssez: car je fais une œuvre en vos jours, une œuvre laquelle vous ne croirez en aucun cas, si un homme vous la déclare.

 41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

42 Et lorsque les Juifs sortirent de la synagogue, les Gentils les prièrent que ces paroles puissent leur être prêchées le sabbat suivant.

 42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 Or quand la congrégation se fut dispersée, beaucoup de Juifs et prosélytes religieux suivirent Paul et Barnabas: qui, parlant avec eux, les persuadèrent de continuer dans la grâce de Dieu.

 43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 ¶ Et le jour du sabbat suivant, presque toute la ville vint s’assembler pour entendre la parole de Dieu.

 44 ¶ And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

45 Mais quand les Juifs virent les multitudes, ils furent remplis d’envie, et parlaient contre ces choses dont Paul parlait, le contredisant et blasphémant.

 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 Alors Paul et Barnabas s’enhardirent, et dirent: Il fallait que la parole de Dieu vous soit adressée en premier: mais voyant que vous la repoussez, et que vous vous jugez vous-mêmes indignes de la vie sempiternelle, voici, nous nous tournons vers les Gentils.

 46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 Car ainsi nous l’a commandé le Seigneur, disant: Je t’ai établi pour être une lumière des Gentils, afin que tu sois pour salut jusqu’au bout de la terre.

 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 Et lorsque les Gentils entendirent cela, ils furent contents, et glorifièrent la parole du Seigneur: et tous ceux qui étaient désignés à la vie éternelle, crurent.

 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 Et la parole du Seigneur fut publiée à travers toute la région.

 49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

50 Mais les Juifs incitèrent les femmes dévotes et honorables, ainsi que les hommes importants de la ville, et suscitèrent une persécution contre Paul et Barnabas, et les expulsèrent de leurs côtes.

 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 Mais ils secouèrent la poussière de leurs pieds contre eux, et vinrent à Iconium.

 51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 Et les disciples étaient remplis de joie et de l’Esprit Saint.

 52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
