1 Et il arriva à Iconium, qu’ils entrèrent tous les deux ensemble dans la synagogue des Juifs, et parlèrent de telle manière qu’une grande multitude à la fois de Juifs et aussi de Grecs crurent.

 1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

2 Mais les Juifs incroyants incitèrent les Gentils et firent tourner leurs mauvaises pensées contre les frères.

 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

3 Ils séjournèrent donc là assez longtemps, parlant avec hardiesse dans le Seigneur, lequel rendait témoignage à la parole de sa grâce, et accordait que signes et prodiges se fassent par leurs mains.

 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 Mais la multitude de la ville était divisée: une partie se tenait avec les Juifs, et une partie avec les apôtres.

 4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 Et quand il y eut une attaque faite à la fois par les Gentils et aussi par les Juifs avec leurs dirigeants, pour les traiter avec malignité, et pour les lapider,

 5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

6 Ils en eurent connaissance, et s’enfuirent vers Lystre et à Derbe, villes de Lycaonie et dans la région d’alentour:

 6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

7 Et là ils prêchèrent l’évangile.

 7 And there they preached the gospel.

8 ¶ Et il y avait assis un certain homme à Lystre, perclus de ses pieds, étant infirme depuis l’utérus de sa mère, qui n’avait jamais marché:

 8 ¶ And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

9 Celui-ci entendait parler Paul: qui, le regarda fermement, et percevant qu’il avait la foi pour être guéri,

 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Dit d’une voix retentissante: Tiens-toi droit sur tes pieds. Et il sauta et marcha.

 10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 Et quand le peuple vit ce que Paul avait fait, ils élevèrent leur voix, disant dans le langage de Lycaonie: Les dieux sont descendus vers nous, dans la ressemblance des hommes.

 11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 Et ils appelaient Barnabas, Jupiter; et Paul, Mercure, parce qu’il était l’orateur principal.

 12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

13 Alors le prêtre de Jupiter, qui était devant leur ville, apporta des taureaux et des guirlandes jusqu’aux portes, et aurait voulu sacrifier avec le peuple.

 13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

14 Ce que lorsque les apôtres Barnabas et Paul l’apprirent, ils déchirèrent leurs effets, et coururent parmi le peuple, en s’écriant,

 14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 Et disant: Messieurs, pourquoi faites-vous ces choses? Nous aussi sommes des hommes, livrés aux mêmes passions que vous, et nous vous prêchons que vous vous tourniez de ces vanités vers le Dieu vivant, qui a fait le ciel, et la terre et la mer, et toutes les choses qui y sont:

 15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 Qui dans les temps passés a laissé marcher toutes les nations dans leurs propres chemins.

 16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Néanmoins il ne s’est pas laissé lui-même sans témoignage, en ce qu’il a fait du bien, et nous donna la pluie du ciel, et les saisons fertiles, en remplissant nos cœurs de nourriture et d’ exultation.

 17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 Et avec ces dires à peine retinrent-ils le peuple, qu’ils ne leur offrent un sacrifice.

 18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 ¶ Et certains Juifs vinrent d’Antioche et d’Iconium, qui persuadèrent le peuple, et, ayant lapidé Paul, le traînèrent hors de la ville, pensant qu’il était mort.

 19 ¶ And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Quoi qu’il en soit, comme les disciples se tenaient autour de lui, il se leva, et entra dans la ville: et le lendemain il partit avec Barnabas à Derbe.

 20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 Et lorsqu’ils eurent prêché l’évangile à cette ville, et enseigné un grand nombre, ils retournèrent de nouveau à Lystre, et à Iconium et à Antioche,

 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirmant les âmes des disciples, et les exhortant à continuer dans la foi, et que nous devons à travers beaucoup de tribulations entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.

 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 Et lorsqu’ils leur eurent ordonné des anciens dans chaque église, et eurent prié avec jeûnes, ils les recommandèrent au Seigneur, en qui ils avaient cru.

 23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 Et après qu’ils eurent traversé la Pisidie, ils vinrent en Pamphylie.

 24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 Et lorsqu’ils eurent prêché la parole à Perge, ils descendirent à Attalie:

 25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

26 Et de là, ils firent voile pour Antioche, d’où ils avaient été recommandés à la grâce de Dieu pour l’œuvre qu’ils avaient réalisée.

 26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 Et quand ils furent arrivés, et eurent assemblé l’église, ils racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait avec eux, et comment il avait ouvert la porte de la foi aux Gentils.

 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 Et ils demeurèrent là longtemps avec les disciples.

 28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.
