1 Après ces choses, Paul partit d’Athènes, et vint à Corinthe;

 1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

2 Et trouva un certain Juif, nommé Aquila, né à Pont, récemment arrivé d’Italie avec sa femme Priscille; (parce que Claude avait commandé à tous les Juifs de partir de Rome): et il alla vers eux.

 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

3 Et parce qu’il était du même métier, il demeura avec eux, et travaillait: car de leur métier ils étaient fabricants de tentes.

 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

4 Et il discutait dans la synagogue chaque sabbat, et persuadait les Juifs et les Grecs.

 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

5 Et quand Silas et Timothée furent venus de Macédoine, Paul était pressé en l’esprit, et témoignait aux Juifs que Jésus était Christ.

 5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

6 Et lorsqu’ils s’opposèrent, et blasphémèrent, il secoua son habillement, et leur dit: Que votre sang soit sur vos propres têtes; je suis net: désormais j’irai vers les Gentils.

 6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

7 ¶ Et il partit de là, et entra dans la maison d’un certain homme, nommé Justus, un qui adorait Dieu, et dont la maison était jointe à la synagogue.

 7 ¶ And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

8 Et Crispus, le principal dirigeant de la synagogue, crut au Seigneur avec toute sa maison; et beaucoup de Corinthiens l’entendant, crurent et furent baptisés.

 8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

9 Alors le Seigneur parla à Paul dans la nuit dans une vision: N’aie pas peur, mais parle, et ne te tais pas:

 9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 Car je suis avec toi, et aucun homme ne s’attaquera à toi pour te faire du mal: car j’ai un grand nombre de personnes dans cette ville.

 10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 Et il y demeura un an et six mois, enseignant parmi eux la parole de Dieu.

 11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 ¶ Et quand Gallion fut le député d’Achaïe, les Juifs s’élevèrent d’un commun accord contre Paul, et l’amenèrent au siège de jugement,

 12 ¶ And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 Disant: Cet individu persuade les hommes d’adorer Dieu contrairement à la loi.

 13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

14 Et lorsque Paul allait maintenant ouvrir sa bouche, Gallion dit aux Juifs: S’il était question de tort ou d'action immorale, Ô vous Juifs, la raison voudrait que je vous supporte:

 14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

15 Mais si c’est une question de mots et de noms, et de votre loi, voyez à cela; car je ne veux pas être juge de tels sujets.

 15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

16 Et il les chassa du siège de jugement.

 16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.

17 Alors tous les Grecs saisirent Sosthène, le principal dirigeant de la synagogue, et le battirent devant le siège de jugement. Et Gallion ne se soucia d’aucune de ces choses.

 17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

18 ¶ Et Paul après ceci s’attarda là encore assez longtemps, et il prit alors congé des frères, et de là fit voile pour la Syrie, et avec Priscille et Aquila; ayant rasé sa tête à Cenchrée: car il avait fait un vœu.

 18 ¶ And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

19 Et il vint à Éphèse, et les laissa là: mais lui-même entra dans la synagogue, et discuta avec les Juifs.

 19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20 Lorsqu’ils lui demandèrent de rester plus longtemps avec eux, il n’y consentit pas;

 20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

21 Mais il leur dit adieu, disant: Je dois absolument garder cette fête qui approche à Jérusalem: mais je reviendrai vers vous, si Dieu le veut. Et il fit voile d’Éphèse.

 21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

22 Et quand il eut débarqué à Césarée, et il monta et salua l’église, il descendit à Antioche.

 22 And when he had landed at Cæsarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

23 Et après qu’il y eut passé quelque temps, il partit, et traversa toute la province de Galatie et la Phrygie successivement, fortifiant tous les disciples.

 23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

24 ¶ Et un certain Juif, nommé Apollos, né à Alexandrie, un homme éloquent, et puissant dans les écritures, vint à Éphèse.

 24 ¶ And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 Il avait été instruit dans le chemin du Seigneur; et étant fervent en l’esprit, il parlait et enseignait assidûment les choses du Seigneur, ne connaissant seulement que le baptême de Jean.

 25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 Et il commença à parler hardiment dans la synagogue: quand Aquila et Priscilla l’eurent entendu, ils le prirent avec eux, et lui expliquèrent plus parfaitement le chemin de Dieu.

 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 Et lorsqu’il fut disposé à passer en Achaïe, les frères écrivirent, exhortant les disciples à le recevoir: qui, lorsqu’il fut arrivé, aida beaucoup ceux qui avaient cru au moyen de la grâce:

 27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 Car il convainquait puissamment les Juifs, et ce publiquement, déclarant par les écritures que Jésus était Christ.

 28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
