1 Les paroles d’Amos, qui était parmi les bergers de Tekoa (Thékoa), lesquelles il vit concernant Israël aux jours d’Uzziah (Ozias), roi de Judah (Juda), et aux jours de Jéroboam, le fils de Joash (Joas), roi d’Israël, deux ans avant le tremblement de terre.

 1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

2 Et il dit le Seigneur rugira de Sion ; et fera entendre sa voix de Jérusalem ; et les cabanes des bergers se lamenteront, et le sommet du Carmel séchera.

 2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

3 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : À cause de trois transgressions de Damas et même quatre, je ne différerai pas sa punition parce qu’ils ont piétiné Gilead (Galaad) avec des instruments d’engrenage en fer ;

 3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

4 Mais j’enverrai un feu dans la maison de Hazael (Hazaël), il dévorera les palais de Benhadad (Ben‑Hadad) ;

 4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

5 Je briserai aussi les barres de Damas ; et je retrancherai l’habitant de la vallée d’Aven, ainsi que celui qui tient le sceptre de la maison d’Éden (Beth-Éden), et le peuple de Syrie ira en captivité à Kir, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

6 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : À cause de trois transgressions de Gaza et même de quatre, je ne différerai pas sa punition, parce qu’ils ont emmené captive la captivité entière pour les livrer à Edom ;

 6 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

7 Mais j’enverrai un feu sur la muraille de Gaza, qui dévorera ses palais ;

 7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

8 Et je retrancherai d’Ashdod (Asdod) l’habitant, et d’Ashkelon (Askélon) celui qui tient le sceptre ; et je tournerai ma main contre Ekron, et le reste des Philistins périra, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

9 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : À cause de trois transgressions de Tyre (Tyr) et même de quatre, je ne différerai pas sa punition parce qu’ils ont livré à Edom la captivité entière, et ne se sont pas souvenus de l’alliance fraternelle ;

 9 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

10 Mais j’enverrai un feu sur la muraille de Tyre (Tyr), qui dévorera ses palais.

 10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

11 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : À cause de trois transgressions d’Edom et même de quatre, je ne différerai pas sa punition, parce qu’il a poursuivi son frère avec l’épée, et qu’il a rejeté toute pitié, et que son courroux déchira continuellement, et qu’il garda sa colère à toujours ;

 11 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

12 Mais j’enverrai un feu sur Teman, il dévorera les palais de Bozrah (Botsra).

 12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

13 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : À cause de trois transgressions des enfants d’Ammon et même de quatre, je ne différerai pas sa punition parce qu’ils ont éventré le ventre des femmes enceintes de Gilead (Galaad), afin qu’ils puissent élargir leur frontière ;

 13 ¶ Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:

14 Mais j’allumerai un feu dans la muraille de Rabba, et il dévorera ses palais, avec un cri au jour de la bataille, et avec une tempête au jour du tourbillon ;

 14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

15 Et leur roi s’en ira en captivité, lui et ses princes ensemble, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
