1 Écoutez cette parole, vous vaches de Bashan qui êtes sur la montagne de Samarie, vous qui opprimez les pauvres, qui écrasez les nécessiteux, qui dites : à leurs maîtres : Apportez, et buvons.

 1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

2 Le Seigneur DIEU a juré par sa sainteté, que, voici, les jours viendront sur vous, où il vous enlèvera avec des crochets, et votre postérité avec des hameçons.

 2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

3 Et vous sortirez par les brèches, chaque vache suivant celle qui est devant elle, et vous les jetterez dans le palais, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.

4 ¶ Venez à Bethel, et transgressez ; à Gilgal (Guilgal), multipliez la transgression ; et apportez vos sacrifices chaque matin, et vos dîmes au bout de trois ans.

 4 ¶ Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

5 Et offrez un sacrifice de remerciement avec du levain, et proclamez les offrandes volontaires et publiez-les ; car vous aimez cela, ô vous enfants d’Israël, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

6 ¶ Et je vous ai aussi donné la netteté des dents dans toutes vos villes, et le manque de pain en tous vos lieux ; toutefois vous n’êtes pas retournés à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 6 ¶ And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

7 Je vous ai aussi retenu la pluie, quand il y avait encore trois mois jusqu’à la moisson ; et j’ai fait pleuvoir sur une ville, et je n’ai pas fait pleuvoir sur une autre ville ; une pièce de terre a été arrosée de pluie et la pièce de terre sur laquelle il n’a pas plu dessécha ;

 7 And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8 Ainsi deux et trois villes sont allées vers une autre ville pour boire de l’eau, mais elles n’ont pas été désaltérées ; toutefois vous n’êtes pas retournés à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

9 Je vous ai frappés de brûlure et de moisissure ; quand vos jardins, vos vignes, vos figuiers et vos oliviers se sont multipliés, la larve les a dévorés ; toutefois vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

10 J’ai envoyé parmi vous la pestilence, de la même façon qu’en Égypte ; j’ai tué par l’épée vos jeunes hommes, et ai pris vos chevaux ; et j’ai fait monter la puanteur de vos camps jusqu’à vos narines ; et vous n’êtes pas retournés à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

11 J’ai renversé quelques-uns d’entre vous, comme Dieu renversa Sodome et Gomorrhe ; et vous avez été comme un tison arraché du feu ; toutefois vous n’êtes pas retournés à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

12 C’est pourquoi je te ferai ainsi, ô Israël ; et parce que je te ferai ainsi, prépare-toi à rencontrer ton Dieu, ô Israël.

 12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

13 Car voici celui qui forme les montagnes, et crée le vent, et qui déclare à l’homme quelle est sa pensée ; qui fait l’aube de l’obscurité, et qui marche sur les hauts lieux de la terre Le SEIGNEUR, Le Dieu des armées est son nom.

 13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
