1 Ainsi le Seigneur DIEU m’a montré, et voici, un panier de fruits d’été.
|
1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
|
2 Et il dit : Amos, que vois-tu ? Et je dis : Un panier de fruits d’été. Alors le SEIGNEUR me dit la fin est venue sur mon peuple d’Israël ; je ne lui en passerai plus.
|
2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
|
3 Et les cantiques du temple seront des hurlements en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur DIEU ; il y aura beaucoup de cadavres en tout lieu, on les jettera en silence.
|
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
|
4 ¶ Entendez ceci : Ô vous qui engloutissez les nécessiteux, même jusqu’à faire disparaître les pauvres du pays ;
|
4 ¶ Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
|
5 Disant : Quand sera passée la nouvelle lune, pour que nous vendions le grain ? et le shabbat, pour que nous exposions le grain en vente, en faisant l’épha plus petit, en augmentant le sicle, et falsifiant la balance pour tromper ?
|
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
|
6 Afin que nous puissions acheter le pauvre pour de l’argent, et le nécessiteux pour une paire de chaussures ; oui, et que nous vendions la criblure du blé ?
|
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
|
7 Le SEIGNEUR a juré par l’excellence de Jacob assurément je n’oublierai jamais toutes leurs actions.
|
7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
|
8 Le pays ne tremblera-t-il pas pour cela ? Et chacun de ses habitants ne sera-t-il pas en deuil ? Et il s’élèvera tout entier comme par un débordement, et il sera entraîné et submergé comme par le débordement d’Égypte.
|
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
|
9 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur DIEU, que je ferai coucher le soleil à midi, et que j’obscurcirai la terre en plein jour.
|
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
|
10 Et je changerai vos fêtes en deuil, et tous vos chants en lamentation ; et je mettrai le sac sur tous les reins, et je rendrai chauve chaque tête ; et je ferai que ce sera comme pour le deuil d’un fils unique, et sa fin sera comme un jour d’amertume.
|
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
|
11 ¶ Voici, les jours viennent, dit le Seigneur DIEU, ou j’enverrai une famine dans le pays ; non pas une famine de pain ni une soif d’eau, mais d’entendre les paroles du SEIGNEUR.
|
11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
|
12 Et ils erreront d’une mer à l’autre, et du Nord à l’Est ; ils courront ca et là, pour chercher la parole du SEIGNEUR, et ils ne la trouveront pas.
|
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
|
13 En ce jour-là, les belles vierges et les jeunes hommes s’évanouiront de soif ;
|
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
|
14 Ceux qui jurent par le péché de Samarie, et disent : Ton dieu, ô Dan, est vivant ; et la manière de pratiquer de Beersheba est vivante ; ils tomberont, et ne se relèveront jamais.
|
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
