1 Et lorsque David étant vieux et rassasié de jours, il établit Salomon, son fils, roi sur Israël.

 1 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2 ¶ Et il rassembla tous les princes d’Israël, ainsi que les prêtres et les Lévites.

 2 ¶ And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

3 Et on dénombra les Lévites, depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus ; et leur nombre fut, par leur liste de personnes, par homme, de trente-huit mille.

 3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

4 Parmi lesquels vingt-quatre mille étaient assignés à l’œuvre de la maison de le SEIGNEUR, et six mille étaient officiers et juges ;

 4 Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:

5 De plus quatre mille étaient portiers, et quatre mille louaient le SEIGNEUR, avec les instruments que j’ai faits, dit : David, pour le louer.

 5 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

6 Et David les divisa en branches d’après les fils de Levi (Lévi), c’est-à-dire Gershon (Guershon), Kohath et Merari.

 6 And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 ¶ Des Gershonites étaient Laadan et Shimei.

 7 ¶ Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

8 Les fils de Laedan le chef était Jehiel, et Zetham et Joël, trois.

 8 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

9 Les fils de Shimei Shelomith, et Haziel et Haran, trois. Ceux-ci étaient les chefs des pères de la famille de Laedan.

 9 The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

10 Et les fils de Shimei étaient Jahath, Zina, et Jeush et Beriah. Ces quatre étaient les fils de Shimei.

 10 And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 Et Jahath était le chef, et Zizah le second ; mais Jeush et Beriah n’eurent pas beaucoup de fils, c’est pourquoi ils furent comptés pour une seule branche, selon la famille de leur père.

 11 And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.

12 ¶ Les fils de Kohath Amram, Izhar, Hebron et Uziel, quatre.

 12 ¶ The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 Les fils d’Amram Aaron et Moïse ; et Aaron fut séparé, pour sanctifier les choses les plus saintes, lui et ses fils, à toujours, pour brûler l’encens devant le SEIGNEUR, pour faire son service, et pour bénir en son nom à toujours.

 13 The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

14 Quant à Moïse, l’homme de Dieu, ses fils furent appelés de la tribu de Levi (Lévi).

 14 Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

15 Les fils de Moïse Gershom et Eliezer.

 15 The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

16 Des fils de Gershom Shebuel était le chef.

 16 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

17 Et les fils d’Eliezer furent Rehabiah, le chef. Et Eliezer n’eut pas d’autres fils, mais les fils de Rehabiah furent très nombreux.

 17 And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

18 Et les fils de Izhar Shelomith, le chef.

 18 Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

19 Des fils de Hebron Jeriah, le premier ; Amariah, le second ; Jahaziel, le troisième ; et Jekameam, le quatrième.

 19 Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

20 Des fils d’Uziel Michah (Michée), le premier ; et Jesiah, le second.

 20 Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.

21 ¶ Les fils de Merari Mahli et Mushi. Les fils de Mahli Eleazar et Kish.

 21 ¶ The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

22 Et Eleazar mourut sans avoir de fils ; mais il eut des filles ; et les fils de Kish, leurs frères, les prirent pour femmes.

 22 And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

23 Les fils de Mushi Mahli, et Eder et Jeremoth, trois.

 23 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 ¶ Ceux-ci furent les fils de Levi (Lévi), selon les maisons de leurs pères c’est-à-dire, les chefs des pères, qui furent comptés selon le nombre de leurs noms d’après leurs listes, lesquels faisaient l’œuvre du service de la maison de le SEIGNEUR, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.

 24 ¶ These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.

25 Car David, avait dit le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël, a donné du repos à son peuple, afin qu’il puisse demeurer à Jérusalem, à toujours ;

 25 For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

26 Et aussi aux Lévites, ils n’auront plus à porter le tabernacle, ni tous les ustensiles pour son service.

 26 And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

27 Car d’après les dernières paroles de David, les Lévites furent comptés depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.

 27 For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

28 Parce que leur place était d’assister les fils d’Aaron, pour le service de la maison du SEIGNEUR, sur les cours, et sur les chambres, et sur la purification des choses saintes, et sur l’œuvre du service de la maison de Dieu ;

 28 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

29 Et pour le pain de présentation, et pour la fleur de farine pour l’offrande de farine, et pour les gâteaux sans levain, et pour ce qui se cuit sur la plaque, et pour ce qui est frit, et pour toutes sortes de mesures de mesure de capacité et de dimension.

 29 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

30 Et pour se présenter chaque matin afin de remercier et de louer le SEIGNEUR, et de même chaque soir,

 30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;

31 Et pour offrir toutes les offrandes consumées au SEIGNEUR, aux shabbats, aux nouvelles lunes, et aux fêtes établies, en succession, et continuellement, devant le SEIGNEUR selon l’ordonnance qui leur avait été commandée.

 31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:

32 Et afin qu’ils gardent la charge du tabernacle de la congrégation, ainsi que la charge du Iieu saint, et la charge des fils d’Aaron, leurs frères, pour le service de la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.
