1 Puis Salomon commença à bâtir la maison du SEIGNEUR à Jérusalem, au mont Moriah, où le SEIGNEUR était apparu à David, son père, dans le lieu que David avait préparé dans l’aire d’Ornan, le Jebusite.

 1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

2 Et il commença à bâtir au second jour du second mois, la quatrième année de son règne.

 2 And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

3 ¶ Or ce sont les choses avec lesquelles Salomon avait été instruit pour la construction de la maison de Dieu. La longueur, en coudées d’après l’ancienne mesure, était de soixante coudées, et la largeur de vingt coudées.

 3 ¶ Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

4 Et le porche, qui était sur le devant de la maison, sa longueur était selon la largeur de la maison, de vingt coudées, et la hauteur était de cent vingt ; et il le couvrit au intérieur d’or pur.

 4 And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

5 Et il plafonna la grande maison de bois de sapin, qu’il plaqua d’or fin, et y plaça des palmiers et des chaînettes.

 5 And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.

6 Et il décora la maison de pierres précieuses, pour l’ornement ; et l’or était de l’or de Parvaim.

 6 And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

7 Il plaqua aussi d’or la maison, les poutres, les montants, et ses murs et ses portes ; et il grava des chérubins sur les murs.

 7 He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.

8 Et il fit la maison très sainte, dont la longueur était selon la largeur de la maison de vingt coudées, et sa largeur de vingt coudées ; et il la plaqua d’or fin, se montant à six cents talents.

 8 And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

9 Et le poids des clous était cinquante shekels d’or. Et il plaqua d’or les chambres hautes.

 9 And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

10 Et il fit deux chérubins dans la maison très sainte, en ouvrage sculpté, et on les plaqua d’or ;

 10 And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.

11 ¶ Et les ailes des chérubins étaient de vingt coudées de long ; une aile d’un chérubins était de cinq coudées, atteignant le mur de la maison, et l’autre aile était de même de cinq coudées, atteignant l’aile de l’autre chérubin.

 11 ¶ And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

12 Et l’aile de l’autre chérubin était de cinq coudées, atteignant le mur de la maison ; et l’autre aile était de cinq coudées aussi, joignant l’aile de l’autre chérubin.

 12 And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.

13 Les ailes de ces chérubins s’étendaient de vingt coudées ; ils se tenaient debout sur leurs pieds, et leurs faces étaient vers l’intérieur.

 13 The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.

14 ¶ Et il fit le voile de bleu, et de pourpre, et de cramoisi et de fin lin ; et il mit dessus des chérubins.

 14 ¶ And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims thereon.

15 Il fit aussi devant la maison deux colonnes, de trente-cinq coudées de hauteur ; et le chapiteau qui était sur le sommet de chacune, était de cinq coudées.

 15 Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.

16 Et il fit des chaînettes comme dans l’oracle, et les mit sur le sommet des colonnes ; et il fit cent pommes de grenade, et les mit aux chaînettes.

 16 And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.

17 Et il dressa les colonnes devant du temple, l’une à main droite, et l’autre à gauche ; et il appela le nom de celle à main droite  : Jachin, et le nom de celle de gauche  : Boaz.

 17 And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.
