1 Or il arriva, lors ue le royaume de Rehoboam fut établi et qu’il s’affermit, qu'il abandonna la loi du SEIGNEUR, et tout Israël avec lui.
|
1 And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.
|
2 Et il arriva parce qu’ils avaient transgressé contre le SEIGNEUR, qu’en la cinquième année du roi Rehoboam, Shishak, roi d’Égypte, monta contre Jérusalem,
|
2 And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
|
3 Avec douze cents chariots et soixante mille cavaliers, et le peuple venu avec lui d’Égypte était sans nombre, des Libyens, des Sukkiims et des Éthiopiens.
|
3 With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
|
4 Et il prit les villes fortifiées qui appartenaient à Judah (Juda), et vint jusqu’à Jérusalem.
|
4 And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
|
5 ¶ Alors Shemaiah, le prophète, vint vers Rehoboam et vers les princes de Judah (Juda), qui s’étaient assemblés à Jérusalem, à cause de Shishak, et dit : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Vous m’avez abandonné, c’est pourquoi je vous ai aussi abandonnés en la main de Shishak.

5 ¶ Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.
|
6 Sur quoi les princes d’Israël et le roi s’humilièrent, et dirent : Le SEIGNEUR est droit.
|
6 Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.
|
7 Et quand le SEIGNEUR vit qu’ils s’étaient humiliés, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Shemaiah, disant : Ils se sont humiliés ; c’est pourquoi je ne les détruirai pas, mais je leur donnerai un peu de délivrance, et ma colère ne se versera pas sur Jérusalem par la main de Shishak.

7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
|
8 Toutefois ils seront ses serviteurs, afin qu’ils puissent connaître ce qu’est mon service, et le service des royaumes des pays.
|
8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
|
9 Ainsi Shishak, roi d’Égypte, monta contre Jérusalem, et prit les trésors de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et les trésors de la maison du roi ; il prit tout ; il emporta les boucliers d’or que Salomon avait faits.
|
9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
|
10 Le roi Rehoboam fit à leur place des boucliers de bronze, et il les confia aux mains des chefs de la garde qui gardaient la porte de la maison du roi.
|
10 Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
|
11 Et quand le roi entrait dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, la garde venait, et allait les chercher. et ils les rapportaient dans la chambre de la garde.
|
11 And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
|
12 Ainsi comme il s’était humilié, la colère du SEIGNEUR se détourna de lui, et ne le détruisit pas entièrement ; et aussi les choses allaient bien en Judah (Juda).
|
12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
|
13 ¶ Aussi le roi Rehoboam s’affermit dans Jérusalem, et régna : car Jehoboam était âgé det quarante et un ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que le SEIGNEUR avait choisie, de toutes les tribus d’Israël, pour y mettre son nom. Et le nom de sa mère était Naamah, une Ammonite.

13 ¶ So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

14 Et il fit le mal, parce qu’il ne disposa pas son cœur à chercher le SEIGNEUR.
|
14 And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
|
15 Or les actions de Rehoboam, les premières et les dernières, ne sont-elles pas écrites dans le livre de Shemaiah, le prophète, et d’Iddo, le voyant, ai sujet des généalogies ? Et il y eut continuellement des guerres entre Rehoboam et Jeroboam.
|
15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
|
16 Et Rehoboam s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans la cité de David ; et Abijah, son fils, régna à sa place.
|
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
