1 Manasseh était âgé de douze ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem.

 1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:

2 Mais il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, selon les abominations des païens, lesquelles le SEIGNEUR avait chassés devant les enfants d’Israël.

 2 But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

3 ¶ Car il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu’Hezekiah, son père, avait démolis, il éleva des autels aux Baalim, et fit des bosquets, et adora toute l’armée du ciel et les servit.

 3 ¶ For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

4 Il bâtit aussi des autels dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, de laquelle le SEIGNEUR dit : Dans Jérusalem sera mon nom pour toujours.

 4 Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

5 Et il bâtit des autels à toute l’armée du ciel, dans les deux cours de la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

6 Et il fit passer ses enfants par le feu dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom ; il observait aussi l’avenir, et pratiquait les enchantements et utilisait la magie ; il établit des évocateurs d’esprit et des devins ; il agissait avec beaucoup de perversité aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, pour le provoquer au courroux.

 6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

7 Et il plaça une image taillée, l’idole qu’il avait faite, dans la maison de Dieu, de laquelle Dieu avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils : Dans cette maison et dans Jérusalem, laquelle j’ai choisie entre toutes les tribus d’Israël, je mettrai mon nom pour toujours ;

 7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

8 Et je ne retirerai plus le pied d’Israël de la terre que j’ai assignée à vos pères, afin qu’ils prennent garde à faire tout ce que je leur ai commandé par la main de Moïse, selon toute la loi, et les statuts et les ordonnances.

 8 Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

9 Ainsi Manasseh fit égarer Judah (Juda) et les habitants de Jérusalem, et firent pis que les païens lesquels le SEIGNEUR avait détruits devant les enfants d’Israël.

 9 So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Et le SEIGNEUR parla à Manasseh et à son peuple ; mais ils n’y voulurent pas écouter.

 10 And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.

11 ¶ C’est pourquoi le SEIGNEUR fit venir contre eux les capitaines de l’armée du roi d’Assyrie, lesquels prirent Manasseh parmi les épines ; et le lièrent avec des chaînes, et l’emmenèrent à Babylone.

 11 ¶ Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

12 Et lorsqu’il fut dans l’affliction, il supplia le SEIGNEUR, son Dieu, et il s’humilia fort devant le Dieu de ses pères.

 12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

13 Et le pria, et il Dieufut fléchi par lui, et entendit sa supplication ; et le ramena à Jérusalem, dans son royaume. Puis Manasseh reconnut que le SEIGNEUR, lui est Dieu.

 13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.

14 Après cela, il bâtit une muraille extérieure à la cité de David, au ouest, vers Gihon, dans la vallée, c’est-à-dire jusqu’au entrée de la porte des Poissons ; et il entoura Ophel, et l’éleva d’une grande hauteur ; et établit des capitaines d’armée dans toutes les villes fortifiées de Judah (Juda).

 14 Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.

15 Et il ôta de la maison du SEIGNEUR les dieux étrangers, et l’idole, et tous les autels, qu’il avait bâtis sur le mont de la maison du SEIGNEUR et à Jérusalem ; et ies jeta hors de la ville.

 15 And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.

16 Et il répara l’autel du SEIGNEUR et y sacrifia des offrandes de paix et des offrandes de remerciement ; et il commanda à Judah (Juda) de servir le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël.

 16 And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.

17 Toutefois le peuple sacrifiait encore dans les hauts lieux, mais au SEIGNEUR, son Dieu seulement.

 17 Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.

18 ¶ Or le reste des actions de Manasseh, et sa prière à son Dieu, et les paroles des voyants qui lui parlaient au nom du SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, voici, elles sont écrites dans le livre des rois d’Israël.

 18 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.

19 Sa prière aussi et comment Dieu fut fléchi, et tout son péché et sa transgression, et les lieux dans lesquels il bâtit des hauts lieux, et plaça des bosquets et des images taillées, avant qu’il se soit humilié, voici ils sont écrit dans les propos des voyants.

 19 His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

20 ¶ Puis Manasseh s’endormit avec ses pères, et on l’enterra dans sa maison ; et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.

 20 ¶ So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

21 ¶ Amon était âgé de vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem.

 21 ¶ Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.

22 Il fit ce qui était mauvais au regard du SEIGNEUR, comme avait fait Manasseh, son père ; car Amon sacrifia à toutes les images taillées que Manasseh, son père, avait faites, et les servit.

 22 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;

23 Mais il ne s’humilia pas devant le SEIGNEUR, comme Manasseh, son père, s’était humilié, mais Amon transgressa de plus en plus.

 23 And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

24 Et ses serviteurs conspirèrent contre lui, et le tuèrent dans sa maison.

 24 And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.

25 ¶ Mais le peuple du pays frappa tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon ; et le peuple du pays établit Josiah, son fils roi à sa place,

 25 ¶ But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
