1 Paul, appelé à être un apôtre de Jésus Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et Sosthène notre frère,

 1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 À l’église de Dieu qui est à Corinthe, à ceux qui sont sanctifiés en Christ Jésus, appelés à être saints, avec tous ceux qui en tout lieu font appel au nom de Jésus Christ notre Seigneur, tant le leur que le nôtre:

 2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

3 Grâce soit envers vous, et paix, de la part de Dieu notre Père, et du Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 Je remercie mon Dieu toujours pour vous, pour la grâce de Dieu laquelle vous est donnée par Jésus Christ;

 4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

5 Qu’en toutes choses vous êtes enrichis par lui, en toute élocution, et en toute connaissance;

 5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

6 Puisque le témoignage de Christ a été confirmé en vous:

 6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 De sorte que vous ne manquez d’aucun don; attendant la venue de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ:

 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

8 Qui aussi vous confirmera jusqu’à la fin, pour que vous puissiez être irréprochables au jour de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 Dieu est fidèle, par lequel vous avez été appelés à l’association de son Fils Jésus Christ notre Seigneur.

 9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Maintenant je vous implore, frères, par le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, que vous disiez tous la même chose, et à ce qu’il n’y ait aucune divisions parmi vous; mais que vous soyez parfaitement joints dans la même intention et dans le même jugement.

 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11 Car il m’a été déclaré à votre sujet, mes frères, par ceux qui sont de la maison de Chloé, qu’il y a des contestations parmi vous.

 11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 Maintenant je dis ceci, que chacun de vous dise, Je suis de Paul; et moi d’Apollos; et moi de Céphas; et moi, de Christ.

 12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13 Christ est-il divisé? Paul a-t-il été crucifié pour vous? ou avez-vous été baptisés dans le nom de Paul?

 13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

14 Je remercie Dieu de ce que je n’ai baptisé aucun de vous, sinon Crispus et Gaïus;

 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15 De peur que quelqu’un ne dise que j’ai baptisé en mon propre nom.

 15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

16 Et j’ai baptisé aussi la famille de Stéphanas: du reste, je ne sais si j’ai baptisé quelqu’un d’autre.

 16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 Car Christ m’envoya non pas pour baptiser, mais pour prêcher l’évangile: non avec sagesse de mots, de peur que la croix de Christ n’eut été rendue d’aucun effet.

 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

18 Car la prédication de la croix est pour ceux qui périssent absurdité; mais à nous qui sommes sauvés elle est le pouvoir de Dieu.

 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 Car il est écrit, Je détruirai la sagesse du sage et anéantirai à rien la compréhension du prudent.

 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Où est le sage? où est le scribe? où est le disputeur de ce monde? Dieu n’a-t-il pas rendu insensée la sagesse de ce monde?

 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 Car puisqu’en la sagesse de Dieu le monde par la sagesse ne connut pas Dieu, il plut à Dieu par l’absurdité de la prédication de sauver ceux qui croient.

 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 Car les Juifs requièrent un signe, et les Grecs cherchent la sagesse:

 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 Mais nous, nous prêchons Christ crucifié, aux Juifs une pierre d’achoppement, et aux Grecs absurdité;

 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 Mais envers ceux qui sont appelés, tant Juifs que Grecs, Christ le pouvoir de Dieu et la sagesse de Dieu.

 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Parce que l’absurdité de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes; et la faiblesse de Dieu est plus forte que les hommes.

 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 Car vous voyez votre vocation, frères, comment peu d’hommes sages suivant la chair, peu de puissants, peu de nobles sont appelés:

 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 Mais Dieu a choisi les choses absurdes du monde pour confondre les sages; et Dieu a choisi les choses faibles du monde pour confondre les choses qui sont puissantes;

 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 Et les choses basses du monde, et les choses qui sont méprisées, Dieu les a choisies, oui, et les choses qui ne sont pas, pour amener à néant celles qui sont:

 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 Afin qu’aucune chair ne puisse se glorifier en sa présence.

 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 Mais par lui vous êtes en Christ Jésus, qui de Dieu est fait sagesse envers nous, et droiture, et sanctification, et rédemption:

 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 Afin que, selon qu’il est écrit, Celui qui se glorifie, qu’il se glorifie dans le Seigneur.

 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
