1 Car nous savons que si notre maison terrestre de ce tabernacle est dissoute, nous avons un édifice de Dieu, une maison, non faite par des mains, éternelle, dans les cieux.

 1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2 Car en celle-ci nous gémissons, désirant intensément d’être revêtus de notre maison laquelle est du ciel:

 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

3 S’il en est ainsi qu’étant vêtus, nous ne serons pas trouvés nus.

 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

4 Car nous qui sommes dans ce tabernacle gémissons, étant chargés: non parce que nous voulons être dévêtus, mais d’être revêtus, afin que le mortel puisse être englouti par la vie.

 4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

5 Or celui qui nous a formés pour cette chose même est Dieu, qui aussi nous a donné les gages de l’Esprit.

 5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

6 Par conséquent nous sommes toujours confiants, sachant que, pendant que nous sommes dans le corps, nous sommes absents du Seigneur:

 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

7 (Car nous marchons par la foi, non par la vue):

 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

8 Nous sommes confiants, dis-je, et voulant plutôt être absents du corps, et être présents avec le Seigneur:

 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

9 C’est pourquoi nous nous peinons, afin que, soit présents soit absents, nous puissions être acceptés de lui.

 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

10 Car nous devons tous comparaître devant le siège de jugement de Christ, afin que chacun puisse recevoir les choses faites étant dans son corps, selon ce qu’il a fait, soit bien soit mal.

 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Connaissant donc la terreur du Seigneur, nous persuadons les hommes; mais nous sommes rendus manifestes à Dieu; et j’ai confiance aussi que nous sommes rendus manifestes dans vos consciences.

 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

12 Car nous ne nous recommandons pas de nouveau à vous, mais nous vous donnons occasion de vous glorifier à notre sujet, afin que vous puissiez avoir de quoi répondre à ceux qui se glorifient en apparence, et non du cœur.

 12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

13 Car soit que nous sommes déraisonnables, c’est pour Dieu: ou soit que nous soyons sobres, c’est à cause de vous.

 13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

14 Car l’amour de Christ nous contraint; parce qu’ainsi nous jugeons, que si un est mort pour tous, alors tous sont morts:

 14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 Et qu’il mourut pour tous, afin que ceux qui vivent ne devraient plus désor-mais vivent en eux-mêmes, mais en celui qui mourut pour eux, et ressuscita.

 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 C’est pourquoi désormais, nous ne connaissons aucun homme d’après la chair: oui, bien que nous ayons connu Christ d’après la chair, toutefois maintenant nous ne le connaissons plus.

 16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Par conséquent si quelqu’un est en Christ, il est une nouvelle créature: les choses anciennes sont passées; voici, toutes choses sont devenues nouvelles.

 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 Et toutes choses sont de Dieu, qui nous a réconciliés avec lui-même par Jésus Christ, et qui nous a donné le ministère de la réconciliation;

 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 C’est-à-dire, que Dieu était en Christ, réconciliant le monde avec lui-même, ne leur imputant pas leurs infractions; et il nous a confié la parole de réconciliation.

 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Maintenant donc, nous sommes ambassadeurs pour Christ, comme si Dieu vous implorait par nous: nous vous prions au nom de Christ, soyez réconciliés avec Dieu.

 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 Car il l’a fait être péché pour nous, celui qui n’a connu aucun péché; afin que nous puissions être faits la droiture de Dieu en lui.

 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
