1 Car touchant le ministère envers les saints, il est superflu pour moi de vous écrire:

 1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

2 Car je connais l’empressement de votre intention, pour lequel je me vante de vous auprès de ceux de Macédoine, en ce que l’Achaïe était prête l’année dernière; et votre zèle en a provoqué un grand nombre.

 2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

3 Cependant j’ai envoyé les frères, de peur que notre vantardise à votre sujet ne soit en vain à cet égard; pour que comme je l’ai dit, vous puissiez être prêts:

 3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:

4 De peur que peut-être, si ceux de Macédoine venaient avec moi, et ne vous trouvaient pas préparés, nous (pour ne pas dire vous) devrions être honteux de cette certaine vantardise.

 4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

5 Par conséquent j’ai pensé nécessaire d’exhorter les frères pour qu’ils aillent d’avance vers vous, et de compléter au préalable votre générosité dont vous nous avez avertis d’avance, afin que celle-ci puisse être prête, comme un sujet de générosité, et non comme de la convoitise.

 5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

6 Mais je dis ceci: Celui qui sème parcimonieusement moissonnera aussi parcimonieusement: et celui qui sème abondamment moissonnera aussi abondamment.

 6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7 Chaque homme selon qu’il se l’est proposé dans son cœur, qu’ainsi il donne; non à contre cœur, ou par nécessité: car Dieu aime celui qui donne jovialement.

 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 Et Dieu est capable pour faire abonder toute grâce vers vous; afin qu’ayant toujours tout ce qui suffit en toutes choses, vous puissiez abonder en toute bonne œuvre:

 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9 (Comme il est écrit, Il a répandu de tous côtés; il a donné aux pauvres: sa droiture demeure à toujours.

 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10 Or celui qui procure la semence au semeur, procure et le pain pour votre nourriture, et multiplie votre semence ensemencée, et augmente les fruits de votre droiture);

 10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11 Étant enrichis en toute chose pour toute prodigalité, laquelle adresse par notre intermédiaire des remerciements à Dieu.

 11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

12 Car l’administration de ce service non seulement supplée aux besoins des saints, mais est abondante aussi par beaucoup de remerciements envers Dieu;

 12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

13 Tandis que par l’expérience de cette fonction ils glorifient Dieu pour la soumission dont vous faites profession à l’évangile de Christ, et pour votre généreuse distribution envers eux, et envers tous les hommes;

 13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

14 Et par leur prière pour vous, qui tardent de vous voir à cause de l’excessive grâce de Dieu qui est en vous.

 14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

15 Remerciements soient envers Dieu pour son don inexprimable.

 15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
