1 Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar), le roi fit une statue d’or, dont la hauteur était de soixante coudées et sa largeur de six coudées ; et il la dressa dans la plaine de Dura, dans la province de Babylone.

 1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

2 Et Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar), le roi envoya pour assembler les princes, les gouverneurs, les capitaines, les juges, les trésoriers, les conseillers, les prévôts et tous les dirigeants des provinces, pour qu’ils viennent à la dédicace de la statue que le roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) avait dressée.

 2 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

3 Alors les princes, les gouverneurs, et capitaines, les juges, les trésoriers, les conseillers, les prévôts et tous les dirigeants des provinces s’assemblèrent pour la dédicace de la statue que le roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) avait dressée ; et ils se tinrent debout devant la statue qu’avait dressée Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar).

 3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

4 Alors un héraut cria à haute voix il vous est ordonné à vous, ô peuples, nations et langues,

 4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,

5 Qu’à l’heure que vous entendrez le son du cor, de la flûte, de la harpe, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, et du tympanon et de toute sorte de musique, vous vous jetterez à terre et adorerez la statue d’or que le roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) a dressée.

 5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:

6 Et quiconque ne se jettera pas à terre et n’adorera pas, sera à cette même heure, jeté dans la fournaise de feu ardent.

 6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

7 C’est pourquoi, au même instant aussitôt que tous les peuples entendirent le son du cor, de la flûte, de la harpe, de la sambuque, du psaltérion et de toute sorte de musique, tous les peuples, nations et langues se jetèrent à terre et adorèrent la statue d’or que le roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) avait dressée.

 7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

8 ¶ Sur quoi à ce même moment, certains chaldéens s’approchèrent et accusèrent les Juifs.

 8 ¶ Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.

9 Ils prirent la parole, et dirent au roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) : Ô roi, vis pour toujours.

 9 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.

10 Toi, ô roi, tu as émané un décret, que tout homme qui aurait entendu le son du cor, de la flûte, de la harpe, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, du tympanon et de toute sorte de musique, se jette à terre et adore la statue d’or ;

 10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

11 Et que quiconque ne se jetterait pas à terre et n’adorerait pas, serait jeté au milieu d’une fournaise de feu ardent.

 11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

12 Il y a certains Juifs que tu as établis sur les affaires de la province de Babylone, Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego) ; ces hommes-là, ô roi, n’ont pas tenu compte de toi ; ils ne servent pas tes dieux, et n’adorent pas la statue d’or que tu as dressée.

 12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

13 ¶ Alors le roi Nebuchadnezzar, saisi de rage et de fureur, commanda qu’on amène Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego). Alors on amena ces hommes devant le roi.

 13 ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

14 Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) parla et leur dit : Est-il vrai, ô Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego), que vous ne servez pas mes dieux et que vous n’adorez pas la statue d’or que j’ai dressée ?

 14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Maintenant si vous êtes prêts, au moment où vous entendrez le son du cor, de la flûte, de la harpe, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, du tympanon et de toute sorte de musique, à vous jeter à terre et à adorer la statue que j’ai faite, bien ; mais si vous n’adorez pas, vous serez jetés à cette même heure au milieu d’une fournaise de feu ardent. Et qui est ce Dieu qui vous délivrera de mes mains ?

 15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego) répondirent et dirent au roi : Ô Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar), nous n’avons pas besoin de te répondre sur cette affaire.

 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 S’il en est ainsi, notre Dieu, que nous servons, peut nous délivrer de la fournaise ardente, et il nous délivrera de ta main, ô roi.

 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 Mais sinon, sache, ô roi, que nous ne servirons pas tes dieux, et que nous n’adorerons pas la statue d’or que tu as dressée.

 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

19 ¶ Alors Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) fut rempli de fureur, et l’aspect de son visage fut changé contre Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego) ; c’est pourquoi il parla et commanda qu’on chauffe la fournaise sept fois plus qu’elle avait coutume d’être chauffée.

 19 ¶ Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 Et il commanda à quelques-uns des plus vigoureux soldats qui étaient dans son armée de lier Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego), et de les jeter dans la fournaise de feu ardent.

 20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Alors ces hommes furent liés dans leurs manteaux, leurs caleçons, et leurs chapeaux et leurs autres vêtements, et jetés au milieu de la fournaise de feu ardent.

 21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 Et parce que l’ordre du roi était urgent, et que la fournaise était excessivement chauffée, la flamme du feu tua les hommes qui avaient fait monter Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego).

 22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23 Et ces trois hommes, Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego), tombèrent liés au milieu de la fournaise de feu ardent.

 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Alors le roi Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) fut tout stupéfait, et il se leva en hâte, et dit à ses conseillers : N’avons-nous pas jeté au milieu du feu trois hommes liés ? Ils répondirent et dirent au roi : Vrai, Ô roi.

 24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

25 Il répondit, et dit : Voici, je vois quatre hommes déliés, marchant au milieu du feu, et ils n’ont aucun mal ; et l’aspect du quatrième est comme le Fils de Dieu.

 25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

26 ¶ Alors Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) s’approcha de l’entrée de la fournaise de feu ardent et parla et dit : Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego), vous serviteurs du Dieu Très-Haut, sortez et venez ici. Alors Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego) sortirent du milieu du feu.

 26 ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

27 Et les princes, les capitaines, et les conseillers du roi, étant assemblés, virent ces hommes sur le corps desquels le feu n’avait eu aucun pouvoir, qu’aucun cheveu de leur tête n’était brûlé, que leurs manteaux n’avaient pas changé, et que l’odeur du feu n’avait pas passé sur eux.

 27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

28 Alors Nebuchadnezzar (Nebucadnetsar) parla et dit : Béni soit le Dieu de Shadrach (Shadrac), de Meshach (Méshac) et d’Abednego (Abed-Nego), qui a envoyé son ange et délivré ses serviteurs qui s’étaient confiés en lui, et qui ont changé la parole du roi, et ont cédé leurs corps, afin qu’ils ne servent pas, ni n’adorent aucun autre dieu que leur Dieu.

 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

29 C’est pourquoi je fais un décret. Que tout peuple, nation ou langue, qui parlera mal du Dieu de Shadrach (Shadrac), de Meshach (Méshac) et d’Abednego (Abed-Nego), sera mis en pièces, et que leur maison sera réduite en tas de fumier, parce qu’il n’y a aucun autre Dieu qui puisse délivrer de cette façon.

 29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

30 Alors le roi éleva Shadrach (Shadrac), Meshach (Méshac) et Abednego (Abed-Nego) dans la province de Babylone.

 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
