1 Et moi, dans la première année de Darius, le Mède, moi même, me tenais auprès de lui pour l’affermir et le fortifier.

 1 Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.

2 Et maintenant je te montrerai la vérité : Voici, il s’élèvera encore trois rois en Perse ; et le quatrième sera beaucoup plus riche que tous les autres ; et quand il sera devenu puissant par ses richesses, il excitera tous contre le royaume de Grèce.

 2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

3 Et il s’élèvera un puissant roi, qui dirigera d’une grande domination, et fera ce qu’il voudra.

 3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4 Et lorsqu’il aura réussi, son royaume se brisera et sera divisé vers les quatre vents du ciel, et ne sera pas transmis à sa postérité, ni selon la domination avec laquelle il aura gouverné ; car son royaume sera arraché et donné à d’autres qu’à ceux-là.

 4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

5 ¶ Et le roi du Sud sera puissant ayant été un de ses princes ; et il deviendra plus puissant que lui et dominera, et sa domination sera une grande domination.

 5 ¶ And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.

6 Et au bout de quelques années ils s’allieront, et la fille du roi du Sud viendra vers le roi du Nord pour établir un traité ; mais elle ne conservera pas la puissance du bras, il ne sera pas stable, ni son bras ; mais elle sera livrée, et ceux qui l’auront amenée, et celui qui l’aura engendrée, et celui qui la fortifiait en ces temps-là.

 6 And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.

7 Mais d’une branche de ses racines s’élèvera un à sa place, qui viendra avec une armée, et entrera dans la forteresse du roi du Nord, il agira contre eux, et l’emportera.

 7 But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:

8 Et il emmènera aussi captifs en Égypte leurs dieux, avec leurs princes, et leurs précieux ustensiles d’or et d’argent ; et il subsistera plus d’années que le roi du Nord.

 8 And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.

9 Et le roi du Sud entrera dans son royaume, et il retournera dans son propre pays.

 9 So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.

10 Mais ses fils s’agiteront et rassembleront une multitude de grandes armées ; et un viendra certainement, et submergera, et passera ; puis il retournera, et seront poussés jusqu’à la forteresse du roi du Sud.

 10 But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.

11 Et le roi du Sud sera pris de colère, et sortira et combattra contre lui, à savoir contre le roi du Nord ; et il mettra sur pied une grande multitude, mais la multitude sera livrée en sa main.

 11 And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.

12 Et quand cette multitude sera emportée, son cœur s’enorgueillira ; il fera tomber beaucoup de milliers, mais il n’en sera pas fortifié.

 12 And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.

13 Car le roi du Nord reviendra et assemblera une plus grande multitude que la première ; et après quelques années, il viendra certainement avec une grande armée et beaucoup d’équipement.

 13 For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.

14 Et en ce temps-là, beaucoup s’élèveront contre le roi du Sud, et les voleurs de ton peuple s’élèveront pour accomplir la vision, mais ils tomberont.

 14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

15 Et le roi du Nord viendra, et élèvera un mont et prendra les villes fortes ; et les bras du Sud ne résisteront pas, ni son peuple d’élite, il n’y aura aucune puissance pour résister.

 15 So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.

16 Mais celui qui vient contre lui fera ce qu’il voudra, et personne ne lui résistera ; et il se tiendra dans le pays glorieux, qui par sa main sera détruit.

 16 But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.

17 Puis il tournera sa face pour entrer avec la puissance de tout son royaume, et des hommes intègres avec lui, il agira ainsi ; et il lui donnera la fille de femmes, en la corrompant ; mais elle ne prendra pas son parti et ne sera pas pour lui.

 17 He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.

18 Après cela il tournera sa face vers les îles et en prendra beaucoup ; mais un prince, l’obligera de cesser la honte qu’il faisait ; il fera retomber sur lui sa propre honte.

 18 After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.

19 Puis il tournera sa face vers les forteresses de son propre pays, mais il trébuchera et tombera, et on ne le trouvera plus.

 19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.

20 Et il s’en élèvera un à sa place, qui augmentera les taxes pour la gloire du royaume ; mais en peu de jours il sera détruit, et non par la colère, ni dans la bataille.

 20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

21 Et à sa place s’élèvera une personne vile, auquel on ne donnera pas l’honneur du royaume ; mais il viendra tranquillement, et s’emparera du royaume par des flatteries.

 21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22 Et par les bras des grandes eaux, ils seront engloutis par un déluge devant lui, et seront brisés ; oui, ainsi que le prince de l’alliance.

 22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

23 Et après l’accord fait avec lui, il usera de tromperie, car il montera, et il se renforcera avec peu de gens.

 23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

24 Il entrera tranquillement dans les lieux les plus riches de la province, et il fera ce que n’avaient pas fait ses pères, ni les pères de ses pères ; il répandra parmi eux le butin, le pillage et les richesses ; oui, et il formera des stratagèmes contre les places fortes, et cela pour un temps.

 24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

25 Puis il excitera sa puissance et son courage contre le roi du Sud, avec une grande armée ; et le roi du Sud s’avancera en bataille avec une très grande et puissante armée, mais il ne subsistera pas, parce qu’ils formeront contre lui des complots.

 25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

26 Oui, ceux qui mangent les portions de sa viande le détruiront, et son armée sera submergée, et beaucoup tomberont tués.

 26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.

27 Et le cœur de ces deux rois sera donné à faire du mal ; et à la même table ils se diront des mensonges ; mais cela ne réussira pas, car il y aura encore une fin au temps déterminé.

 27 And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

28 Après quoi il retournera dans son pays avec de grandes richesses ; et son cœur sera contre la sainte alliance, et il fera de grands exploits, et retournera dans son propre pays.

 28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

29 Au temps déterminé, il reviendra et viendra vers le Sud ; mais ce ne sera pas comme la première, ni comme la dernière fois.

 29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.

30 ¶ Des navires de Chittim (Kittim) viendront contre lui ; et il sera affligé, et s’en retournera, et il sera furieux contre la sainte alliance, ainsi il agira, et il retournera et s’entendra avec ceux qui abandonnent la sainte alliance.

 30 ¶ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

31 Et des forces se lèveront de son côté, et profaneront le sanctuaire de la forteresse, et ôteront le sacrifice journalier, et mettront l’abomination qui cause la dévastation.

 31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

32 Il contaminera par des flatteries ceux qui agissent odieusement à l’égard de l’alliance ; mais le peuple qui connaît son Dieu sera fort et fera des exploits.

 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

33 Et ceux parmi le peuple qui comprendront instruiront beaucoup ; toutefois il y en aura qui tomberont par l’épée et par la flamme, par la captivité et par le pillage, durant beaucoup de jours.

 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

34 Et lorsqu’ils tomberont ainsi, ils seront aidés avec un peu de secours ; mais beaucoup se joindront à eux par des flatteries.

 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

35 Et quelques-uns de ces plus intelligents tomberont, afin qu’ils soient éprouvés, et purgés et qu’ils soient blanchis, à savoir jusqu’au temps de la fin, car cela est encore pour un temps déterminé.

 35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

36 Et le roi fera selon sa volonté ; et il s’exaltera et s’élèvera au-dessus de tout dieu, et il proférera des choses étonnantes contre le Dieu des dieux, et il prospérera jusqu’à ce que l’indignation soit accomplie, car ce qui est déterminé sera fait.

 36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

37 Il n’aura pas d’égard au Dieu de ses pères, ni de désirer des femmes, il n’aura égard à aucun dieu ; car il s’élèvera au-dessus de tout.

 37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

38 Mais, à sa place, il honorera le Dieu des forces et avec or, et argent, et avec des pierres précieuses et avec les choses les plus désirables, Il honorera un dieu que n’ont pas connu ses pères.

 38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

39 Ainsi il agira dans les places les plus fortes avec un dieu inconnu, qu’il reconnaîtra, et il accroîtra en gloire ; il les fera dominer sur beaucoup et leur partagera le pays en récompense.

 39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

40 Et au temps de la fin, le roi Sud viendra contre lui ; et le roi du Nord se dressera contre lui comme un tourbillon, avec des chariots et des cavaliers et beaucoup de navires ; et il entrera dans les pays, et les submergera et passera outre.

 40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

41 Et il entrera dans le glorieux pays, et beaucoup de pays seront anéantis, mais ceux-ci échapperont de sa main savoir Edom et Moab et le chef des enfants d’Ammon.

 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

42 Il étendra aussi sa main sur les pays, et le pays d’Égypte n’échappera pas.

 42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

43 Mais il aura puissance sur les trésors d’or et d’argent et toutes les choses précieuses de l’Égypte ; et les Libyens et les Éthiopiens seront à sa suite.

 43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

44 Mais des nouvelles de l’Est et du Nord le troubleront ; c’est pourquoi il sortira avec une grande fureur pour détruire et complètement exterminer beaucoup de gens.

 44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

45 Et il dressera les tabernacles de son palais entre les mers, près de la sainte montagne glorieuse ; toutefois il viendra à sa fin, et personne ne lui apportera secours.

 45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
