1 En ce temps-là, le SEIGNEUR me dit : Taille-toi deux tables de pierre, comme les premières, et monte vers moi sur le mont, et fais-toi une arche de bois.
|
1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
|
2 Et j’écrirai sur ces tables les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tables que tu as brisées, et tu les mettras dans l’arche.
|
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
|
3 Et je fis une arche de bois de Shitim (Sittim), et je taillai deux tables de pierre, comme les premières, et je montai sur le mont, ayant les deux tables en ma main.
|
3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
|
4 Et il écrivit sur ces tables, selon ce qu’il avait écrit la première fois, les dix commandements que le SEIGNEUR nous avait dites sur le mont, du milieu du feu, au jour de l’assemblée ; puis le SEIGNEUR me les donna.
|
4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
|
5 Et je me tournai, et je descendis du mont ; et je mis les tables dans l’arche que j’avais faite ; et là, elles sont, comme le SEIGNEUR me l’avait commandé.
|
5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.
|
6 ¶ Et les enfants d’Israël entreprirent leur voyage depuis Beeroth, des enfants de Jaakan (Bené‑Jaakan), pour Mosera ; Aaron mourut là, et y fut enseveli ; et Eleazar, son fils, prit la fonction de prêtre à sa place.
|
6 ¶ And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead.
|
7 De là, ils partirent pour Gudgodah, et de Gudgodah pour Jotbath (Jotbatha), un pays de rivières d’eaux.
|
7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.
|
8 ¶ En ce temps-là, le SEIGNEUR sépara la tribu de Levi (Lévi) pour porter l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, pour se tenir devant le SEIGNEUR, pour officier, et pour bénir en son nom, jusqu’à ce jour.
|
8 ¶ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
|
9 C’est pourquoi Levi (Lévi) n’a ni portion ni héritage avec ses frères ; le SEIGNEUR est son héritage, comme le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu le lui a promis.
|
9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
|
10 Et je restai sur le mont, comme la première fois, quarante jours et quarante nuits ; et le SEIGNEUR m’écouta aussi cette fois-là ; et le SEIGNEUR ne voulut pas te détruire.
|
10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
|
11 Et le SEIGNEUR me dit : Lève-toi ; entreprends ton voyage devant le peuple, afin qu’ils entrent, et possèdent la terre que j’ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner.
|
11 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.
|
12 ¶ Et maintenant, ô Israël, qu’est-ce que le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu exige de toi, sinon que tu craignes le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, que tu marches dans tous ses chemins, que tu l’aimes, et que tu serves le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme,

12 ¶ And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
|
13 Et que tu gardes les commandements du SEIGNEUR et ses statuts que je te commande aujourd’hui, pour ton bien ?
|
13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
|
14 Voici, le ciel et le ciel des cieux appartiennent au SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, ainsi que la terre et tout ce qui est en elle.
|
14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
|
15 Cependant le SEIGNEUR a pris plaisir en tes pères, pour les aimer, et il a choisi leur semence après eux, c’est-à-dire vous d’entre tous les peuples, comme il paraît aujourd’hui.
|
15 Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.
|
16 Circoncisez donc le prépuce de votre cœur, et ne soyez plus obstiné ;
|
16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
|
17 Car le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu est Dieu des dieux et Seigneur des seigneurs, un Dieu grand, puissant et terrible, qui ne fait pas de distinction de personne, et qui ne reçoit pas de récompenses ;
|
17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
|
18 Qui exécute le juste jugement de l’orphelin et de la veuve, qui aime l’étranger, en lui donnant nourriture et vêtement.
|
18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
|
19 Vous aimerez donc l’étranger ; car vous avez été étrangers dans le pays d’Égypte.
|
19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
|
20 Tu craindras le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, tu le serviras, et tu t’attacheras à lui, et tu jureras par son nom.
|
20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
|
21 Il est ta louange, et il est ton Dieu, qui a fait pour toi ces grandes et terribles choses que tes yeux ont vues.
|
21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
|
22 Tes pères sont descendus en Égypte avec soixante-dix personnes ; et maintenant le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu t’a fait devenir comme les étoiles du ciel, une multitude.
|
22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
