1 Jette ton pain sur les eaux, car tu le retrouveras après de nombreux jours.
|
1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
|
2 Donne une portion à sept, et même à huit ; car tu ne sais pas quel mal viendra sur la terre.
|
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.
|
3 Si les nuages sont pleins de pluie, ils se videront sur la terre ; et si un arbre tombe vers le Sud, ou vers le Nord, au lieu où l’arbre sera tombé, là il sera.
|
3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
|
4 Celui qui observe le vent, ne sèmera pas ; et celui qui regarde les nuages, ne moissonnera pas.
|
4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
|
5 Comme tu ne sais pas quel est le chemin de l’esprit, ni comment se forment les os dans l’utérus de celle qui est enceinte ; de même tu ne connais pas les œuvres de Dieu, qui fait tout.
|
5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
|
6 Le matin sème ta semence, et le soir, ne laisse pas reposer ta main ; car tu ne sais pas ce qui réussira, ceci ou cela, ou si les deux seront également bons.
|
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
|
7 ¶ Il est vrai que la lumière est douce, et que c’est une chose agréable pour les yeux de contempler le soleil.
|
7 ¶ Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:
|
8 Et si un homme vit beaucoup d’années, et qu’il se réjouisse en elles toutes, qu’il se souvienne tout de même des jours sombres, car ilsi sont nombreux. Tout ce qui vient est vanité.

8 But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
|
9 ¶ Réjouis-toi, ô jeune homme, dans ton jeune âge, et que ton cœur te rende gai aux jours de ta jeunesse ; et marche selon les chemins de ton cœur, et selon le regard de tes yeux ; mais sache que pour toutes ces choses Dieu t’amènera en jugement.

9 ¶ Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
|
10 C’est pourquoi ôte le chagrin de ton cœur, et éloigne le mal de ta chair ; car l’enfance et l’adolescence sont vanité.
|
10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.
