1 Et vous qu’il a vivifiés, qui étiez morts dans vos infractions et dans vos péchés;
|
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
|
2 Dans lesquels autrefois vous avez marché selon le cours de ce monde, selon le prince du pouvoir de l’air, l’esprit qui maintenant agit dans les enfants de la désobéissance:
|
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
|
3 Parmi lesquels aussi nous tous avions notre comportement autrefois dans les convoitises de notre chair, accomplissant les désirs de la chair et de l’intention; et nous étions par nature des enfants de courroux, c’est-à-dire comme les autres.
|
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
|
4 Mais Dieu, qui est riche en miséricorde, par son grand amour avec lequel il nous a aimés,
|
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
|
5 C’est-à-dire lorsque nous étions morts dans les péchés, nous a vivifiés ensemble avec Christ (par grâce vous êtes sauvés);
|
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
|
6 Et nous a ressuscités ensemble, et nous a fait asseoir ensemble dans les lieux célestes en Christ Jésus:
|
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
|
7 Afin que dans les âges à venir il puisse montrer l’excessive richesse de sa grâce dans sa gentillesse envers nous par le moyen de Christ Jésus.
|
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
|
8 Car par grâce vous êtes sauvés,la foi; et cela non par vous-mêmes: c’est le don de Dieu:
|
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
|
9 Non par les œuvres, afin qu’aucun homme ne se vante.
|
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
|
10 Car nous sommes son ouvrage, créés en Christ Jésus à de bonnes œuvres, lesquelles Dieu a ordonnées d’avance afin que nous marchions en elles.
|
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
|
11 C’est pourquoi souvenez-vous, que vous étant autrefois Gentils dans la chair, qui êtes appelés Incirconcision par ce qui est appelé la Circoncision dans la chair faite par des mains;
|
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
|
12 Qu’ à ce moment-là vous étiez sans Christ, en dehors de la communauté d’Israël, et étrangers des alliances de la promesse, étant sans espérance, et sans Dieu dans le monde:
|
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
|
13 Mais maintenant en Christ Jésus vous qui parfois étiez éloignés êtes rendus proches par le sang de Christ.
|
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
|
14 Car il est notre paix, qui des deux en a fait un, et a abattu le mur mitoyen de séparation entre nous;
|
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
|
15 Ayant aboli en sa chair l’inimitié, c’est-à-dire la loi des commandements contenant des ordonnances; pour faire en lui-même des deux un homme nouveau, ainsi faisant la paix;
|
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
|
16 Et qu’il puisse réconcilier les deux à Dieu en un seul corps par la croix, ayant tué l’inimitié de cette manière:
|
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
|
17 Et il vint et prêcha la paix à vous qui étiez éloignés et à ceux qui étaient près.
|
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
|
18 Car par son intermédiaire nous avons, les uns et les autres, par un seul Esprit, accès au Père.
|
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
|
19 Par conséquent maintenant vous n’êtes plus ni des étrangers, ni du dehors, mais concitoyens avec les saints et ceux de la maison de Dieu;
|
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
|
20 Et vous êtes édifiés sur le fondement des apôtres et des prophètes, Jésus Christ lui-même étant la pierre maîtresse du coin;
|
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
|
21 En qui tout l’édifice adéquatement formé ensemble s’accroît en un temple saint dans le Seigneur:
|
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
|
22 En qui vous aussi êtes édifiés ensemble en une habitation de Dieu par le moyen de l’Esprit.
|
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
