1 Suivez Dieu donc comme de chers enfants;

 1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 Et marchez dans l’amour, comme Christ aussi nous a aimés, et s’est donné lui-même pour nous en une offrande et un sacrifice à Dieu, une douce et agréable fragrance.

 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3 Mais que ni fornication, et ni aucune impureté, ou convoitise, ne soient pas même mentionnées parmi vous, comme il convient à des saints;

 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4 Ni chose immonde, ni parole insensée, ni plaisanterie, qui ne sont pas convenables: mais plutôt de donner des remerciements.

 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 Car vous savez ceci, que ni proxénète, ni personne souillée, ni homme convoiteux, qui est un idolâtre, n’a aucun héritage dans le royaume de Christ et de Dieu.

 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Qu’aucun homme ne vous trompe par de vaines paroles: car à cause de ces choses le courroux de Dieu vient sur les enfants de la désobéissance.

 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7 Ne participez donc pas avec eux.

 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8 Car vous étiez parfois dans l’obscurité, mais maintenant vous êtes lumière dans le Seigneur: marchez comme des enfants de lumière:

 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (Car le fruit de l’Esprit est en toute bonté et droiture et vérité);

 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Éprouvant ce qui est acceptable au Seigneur.

 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 Et n’ayez aucune association avec les œuvres infructueuses de l’obscurité, mais plutôt désapprouvez-les.

 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 Car c’est même une honte de parler de ces choses qui sont faites par eux en secret.

 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 Mais toutes choses qui sont désapprouvées sont rendues manifestes par la lumière: car quoi que ce soit qui est rendu manifeste est lumière.

 13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14 C’est pourquoi il dit: Réveille-toi, toi qui dors, et lève-toi d’entre les morts, et Christ te donnera la lumière.

 14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 Veillez donc à ce que vous marchiez avec circonspection, non comme des insensés, mais comme des sages,

 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Rachetant le temps, parce que les jours sont mauvais.

 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 C’est pourquoi ne soyez pas insensés, mais comprenant quelle est la volonté du Seigneur.

 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18 Et ne soyez pas enivrés par le vin, dans lequel est l’excès; mais soyez remplis de l’Esprit;

 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 Parlant à vous-même par des psaumes et des hymnes et des cantiques spirituels, chantant et faisant une mélodie en votre cœur au Seigneur;

 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Remerciant toujours pour toutes choses Dieu et le Père dans le nom de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ;

 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21 Vous soumettant l’un l’autre dans la crainte de Dieu.

 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 Femmes, soumettez-vous à vos propres maris, comme au Seigneur,

 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 Car le mari est la tête de la femme, comme Christ est la tête de l’église: et il est le sauveur du corps.

 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Par conséquent comme l’église est soumise à Christ, de même que les femmes le soient aussi à leurs propres maris en toutes choses.

 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25 Maris, aimez vos femmes, comme Christ aussi a aimé l’église, et s’est donné lui-même pour elle;

 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 Afin qu’il puisse la sanctifier et l'épurer en la nettoyant d’eau par la parole,

 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 Afin qu’il puisse la présenter à lui-même, une église glorieuse, ayant ni tache, ni ride, ni rien de semblable; mais qu’elle soit sainte et sans défaut.

 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 Ainsi les hommes doivent aimer leurs femmes comme leurs propres corps. Celui qui aime sa femme s’aime lui-même.

 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 Car aucun homme n’a encore haï sa propre chair; mais la nourrit et la chérit, comme le Seigneur pour l’église:

 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 Car nous sommes membres de son corps, de sa chair et de ses os.

 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 Pour ce motif l’homme quittera son père et sa mère, et sera joint à sa femme, et eux deux seront une seule chair.

 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 C’est un grand mystère: mais je parle concernant Christ et l’église.

 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33 Néanmoins que chacun de vous en particulier aime ainsi sa femme comme lui-même; et que la femme prenne soin de révérer son mari.

 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
