1 Or il arriva qu’au troisième jour, Esther se revêtit de son vêtement royal, et se tint dans la cour intérieure de la maison du roi, face à la maison du roi ; et le roi était assis sur son trône royal dans la maison royale, face à la porte de la maison.

1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
|
2 Et il fut ainsi, lorsque le roi vit la reine Esther se tenant debout dans la cour, elle obtint faveur à ses yeux, et le roi tendit à Esther le sceptre d’or qui était en sa main. Alors Esther s’approcha, et toucha le bout du sceptre.

2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
|
3 Puis le roi lui dit : Que veux-tu, reine Esther, et quelle est ta requête ? Elle te sera donnée et même jusqu’à la moitié du royaume.
|
3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
|
4 Et Esther répondit : Si cela semble bon au roi, que le roi et Haman viennent aujourd’hui au festin que je lui ai préparé.
|
4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
|
5 Alors le roi dit : Cherchez vite Haman, pour qu’il puisse faire ce qu’Esther a dit. Ainsi le roi et Haman vinrent au festin qu’Esther avait préparé.
|
5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
|
6 Et le roi dit à Esther pendant qu’on buvait le vin : Quelle est ta demande ? Et elle te sera accordée. Et quelle est ta requête ? Même jusqu’à la moitié du royaume, ce sera fait.
|
6 ¶ And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
|
7 Alors Esther répondit, et dit : Voici ma demande et ma requête :
|
7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;
|
8 Si j’ai trouvé faveur aux yeux du roi, et si cela plaît au roi d’accorder ma demande, et de faire selon ma requête, que le roi et Haman viennent au festin que je leur préparerai, et demain je ferai selon ce que le roi a dit.
|
8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.

9 ¶ Et Haman sortit ce jour-là, joyeux et le cœur gai ; mais lorsque Haman vit à la porte du roi, Mordecai (Mardochée) qui ne se leva pas et ne se dérangea pas pour lui, il fut rempli d’indignation contre Mordecai (Mardochée).
|
9 ¶ Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
|
10 Toutefois Haman se contint, et arrivé dans sa maison, il envoya chercher ses amis et Zeresh, sa femme.
|
10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
|
11 Et Haman leur raconta la gloire de ses richesses et la multitude de ses enfants, et toutes les choses dans lesquelles le roi l’avait promu, et comment il l’avait promu au-dessus des princes et serviteurs du roi.
|
11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
|
12 De plus Haman dit : Esther n’a laissé venir personne d’autre que moi avec le roi au festin qu’elle a préparé, et demain je suis aussi invité par elle, avec le roi.
|
12 Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.
|
13 Toutefosi tout cela ne me sert à rien, aussi longtemps que je verrai Mordecai (Mardochée), le Juif, assis à la porte du roi.
|
13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.
|
14 ¶ Alors Zeresh, sa femme, et tous ses amis lui dirent : Qu’on fasse un gibet haut de cinquante coudées ; et, demain, dis au roi qu’on y pende Mordecai (Mardochée) ; puis va joyeusement au festin avec le roi. Et la chose plut à Haman, et il fit faire le gibet.

14 ¶ Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
