1 Et il arriva, aux jours d’Amraphel, roi de Shinar, d’Arioch, roi d’Ellasar, de Chedorlaomer, roi d’Elam, et de Tidal, roi des nations ;

 1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;

2 Que ceux-ci firent la guerre à Bera, roi de Sodome, et à Birsha, roi de Gomorrhe, à Shinab, roi d’Admah, à Semeber, roi de Zeboim, et au roi de Bela, qui est Zoar.

 2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

3 Tous ceux-ci se joignirent dans le val de Siddim, qui est la mer salée.

 3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

4 Douze ans ils servirent Chedorlaome, et la treizième année ils se rebellèrent.

 4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 Et pendant la quatorzième année vinrent , Chedorlaomer et les rois qui étaient avec lui, et frappèrent les Rephaim à Ashteroth Karnaim, et les Zuzim à Ham, les Emim à Shaveh Kiriathim,

 5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

6 Et les Horites dans leur mont de Seir, jusqu’à El‑Paran, lequel est près du désert.

 6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

7 Et ils retournèrent et arrivèrent à En-Mishpath, lequel est Kadesh, et frappèrent toute la région des Amalekites, et aussi les Amorites, qui demeuraient à Hazezon-tamar.

 7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.

8 Et sortirent le roi de Sodome, et le roi de Gomorrhe, et le roi d’Admah, et le roi de Zeboiim, et le roi de Bela, (qui est Zoar) ; et rejoignirent la bataille contre eux dans le val de Siddim ;

 8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;

9 Contre Chedorlaomer le roi d’Elam, et contre Tidal, roi des nations, et Amraphel, roi de Shinar, et Arioch, roi d’Ellasar ; quatre rois contre cinq.

 9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

10 Et le val de Siddim était rempli de puits de limon ; et les rois de Sodome et de Gomorrhe s’enfuirent, et y tombèrent ; et ceux qui restèrent, s’enfuirent vers la montagne.

 10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.

11 Et ils prirent tous les biens de Sodome et de Gomorrhe et toutes leurs victuailles, et s’en allèrent.

 11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.

12 Et ils prirent Lot, le fils du frère d’Abram, qui demeurait dans Sodome, et ses biens, et ils partirent.

 12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13 Et vint un qui s’était échappé et averti Abram, l’Hébreu ; car il demeurait dans la plaine de Mamre l’Amorite, frère d’Eshcol, et frère d’Aner: et ceux-ci s’étaient alliés avec Abram.

 13 ¶ And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

14 Et lorsqu’Abram apprit que son frère avait été emmené captif, il arma ses serviteurs entraînés, nés dans sa maison, trois cent dix-huit et les poursuivit jusqu’à Dan.

 14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15 Et il se divisa lui et ses serviteurs, contre eux, de nuit, et il les frappa, et les poursuivit jusqu’à Hobah, laquelle est à main gauche de Damas.

 15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16 Et il ramena les biens, et ramena aussi Lot son frère, et ses biens et les femmes aussi, et le peuple.

 16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

17 ¶ Et le roi de Sodome vint à sa rencontre, après son retour du carnage de Chedorlaomer et des rois qui étaient avec lui, dans la vallée de Shaveh, qui est le vallon du roi.

 17 ¶ And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.

18 Et Melchizedek), roi de Salem, fit apporter du pain et du vin: et il était le prêtre du plus haut Dieu.

 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19 Et il le bénit et dit: Béni soit Abram par le plus haut Dieu, possesseur du ciel et de la terre :

 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 Et béni soit le plus haut Dieu, lequel a livré tes ennemis en ta main. Et il lui donna la dîme de tout.

 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 Et le roi de Sodome dit à Abram: Donne-moi les personnes, et prends les biens pour toi.

 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 Et Abram dit au roi de Sodome: J’ai levé ma main vers le SEIGNEUR, le plus haut Dieu, le possesseur du ciel et de la terre,

 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23 Que je ne prendrai pas même un fil ou un lacet de soulier, et que je ne prendrai rien qui est à toi, de peur que tu ne dises: J’ai rendu Abram riche :

 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

24 Sauf seulement ce que les jeunes gens ont mangé, et la portion des hommes qui sont allés avec moi, Aner, Eshcol et Mamre ; laisse les prendre leur portion.

 24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
