1 Et lorsqu’Abram était âgé de quatre-vingt-dix-neuf ans, le SEIGNEUR apparut à Abram, et lui dit: Je suis le Dieu Tout-Puissant ; marche devant moi, et sois parfait.

 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2 Et je ferai mon alliance entre moi et toi, et te multiplierai extrêmement.

 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3 Et Abram tomba sur sa face : et Dieu lui parla, disant,

 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

4 Quant à moi, voici, mon alliance est avec toi, et tu seras un père de beaucoup de nations.

 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5 Ton nom ne sera plus appelé Abram, mais ton nom sera Abraham ; car un père de beaucoup de nations t’ai-je fait.

 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 Et je te rendrai extrêmement fécond, et je ferai de toi des nations ; et des rois sortiront de toi.

 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

7 Et j’établirai mon alliance entre moi et toi, et ta semence après toi en leurs générations, pour être une alliance sempiternelle, pour t’être un Dieu, et à ta semence après toi.

 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

8 Et je donnerai à toi, et à ta semence après toi, la terre dans laquelle tu es un étranger, toute la terre de Canaan, pour une possession sempiternelle ; et je serai leur Dieu.

 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

9 ¶ Et Dieu dit à Abraham :Tu dois garder mon alliance par conséquent, toi et ta semence après toi en leurs générations.

 9 ¶ And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

10 Ceci est mon alliance, laquelle vous devez garder entre moi et vous et ta semence après toi ; Tout enfant mâle parmi vous sera circoncis.

 10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

11 Et vous devez circoncire la chair de votre prépuce ; et ceci doit être un indice de l’alliance entre moi et vous.

 11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

12 Et celui qui est âgé de huit jours doit être circoncis parmi vous, tout enfant mâle dans vos générations, aussi bien celui qui est né dans la maison, ou acheté avec de l’argent, ou tout étranger, lequel n’est pas de ta semence.

 12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

13 Celui qui est né dans ta maison, et celui qui est acheté avec ton argent, doivent nécessairement être circoncis: et mon alliance doit être dans votre chair pour une alliance sempiternelle.

 13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14 Et l’enfant mâle incirconcis duquel la chair de son prépuce n’aura pas été circoncise, cette âme doit être retranchée de son peuple ; il a rompu mon alliance.

 14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

15 ¶ Et Dieu dit à Abraham, Quant à Saraï ta femme, tu ne dois plus appeller son nom Saraï, mais Sarah doit être son nom.

 15 ¶ And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

16 Et je la bénirai, et te donnerai aussi un fils d’elle : oui, je la bénirai, et elle doit être une mère de nations ; des rois de peuples doivent provenir d’elle.

 16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

17 Alors Abraham tomba sur sa face, et rit, et dit en son cœur, doit-il naître un enfant à celui qui est âgé de cent ans ? Et Sarah, qui est âgée de quatre-vingt-dix ans, doit-elle enfanter ?

 17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

18 Et Abraham dit à Dieu: ô qu’Ismaël puisse vivre devant toi !

 18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!

19 Et Dieu dit, Sarah ta femme doit t’enfanter en effet un fils ; et tu appelleras son nom Isaac: et j’établirai mon alliance avec lui en une alliance sempiternelle, et avec sa semence après lui.

 19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

20 Et quant à Ismaël, je t’ai entendu: Voici, je l’ai béni, et je le rendrai fécond et le multiplierai extrêmement ; il doit engendrer douze princes ; et je ferai de lui une grande nation.

 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

21 Mais j’établirai mon alliance avec Isaac, lequel Sarah doit t’enfanter à ce moment désigné l’année prochaine.

 21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

22 Et il acheva de parler avec lui, et Dieu remonta d’auprès d’Abraham.

 22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

23 ¶ Et Abraham prit Ismaël son fils et tous ceux qui étaient nés dans sa maison, et tous ceux qui avaient été achetés de son argent, tous les mâles parmi les hommes de la maison d’Abraham ; et il circoncit la chair de leur prépuce en ce même jour-là, comme Dieu le lui dit.

 23 ¶ And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.

24 Et Abraham était âgé de quatre-vingt-dix-neuf ans, lorsqu’il fut circoncis en la chair de son prépuce.

 24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 Et Ismaël son fils était âgé de treize ans, lorsqu’il fut circoncis en la chair de son prépuce.

 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

26 En ce même jour-là Abraham fut circoncis, et Ismaël son fils.

 26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.

27 Et tous les hommes de sa maison,ceux nés dans la maison, et ceux achetés des étrangers avec de l’argent, furent circoncis avec lui.

 27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
