1 Et deux anges arrivèrent à Sodome au crépuscule ; et Lot était assis au portail de Sodome : et Lot les voyant se leva pour aller à leur rencontre ; et il courba son visage vers le sol ;

 1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

2 Et il dit, Voici maintenant, mes seigneurs, entrez, je vous prie dans la maison de votre serviteur, et restez-y la nuit et lavez vos pieds, et vous vous lèverez tôt, et continuerez votre chemin. Et ils dirent, Non, mais nous demeurerons dans la rue toute la nuit.

 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

3 Et il les pressa grandement ; et ils se tournèrent vers lui et entrèrent dans sa maison ; et il leur fit un festin, et fit cuire du pain sans levain, et ils mangèrent.

 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

4 ¶ Mais avant qu’ils se couchent, les hommes de la ville, à savoir les hommes de Sodome, encerclèrent la maison, tant les âgés que les jeunes, tout le peuple de chaque quartier :

 4 ¶ But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

5 Et ils appelèrent Lot, et lui dirent: Où sont les hommes qui sont venus chez toi cette nuit ? Fais-les sortir vers nous, afin que nous puissions les connaître.

 5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

6 Et Lot alla vers eux à la porte, et ferma la porte après lui,

 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

7 Et dit: Je vous prie, frères, n’agissez pas si immoralement.

 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

8 Voici à présent, j’ai deux filles, lesquelles n’ont pas connu d’homme ; laissez-moi, je vous prie, les faire sortir vers vous, et vous leur ferez ce qui est bon à vos yeux: seulement à ces hommes ne faites rien ; car pour cette raison vinrent-ils à l’ombre de mon toit.

 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

9 Et ils dirent: Recule. Et ils dirent de nouveau: Cet individu est venu pour séjourner, et il veut être un juge: maintenant nous agirons plus mal avec toi, qu’avec eux. Et ils pressèrent fort l’homme, à savoir Lot et s’approchèrent pour enfoncer la porte.

 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

10 Mais les hommes avancèrent leur main, et tirèrent Lot dans la maison, et fermèrent la porte.

 10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

11 Et ils frappèrent de cécité les hommes qui étaient à la porte de la maison, tant le petit que le grand: si bien qu’ils se lassèrent à trouver la porte.

 11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

12 ¶ Et les hommes dirent à Lot: En as-tu d’autres ici ? gendre, et tes fils, et tes filles, et tout ce que tu as dans la ville, sors-les de ce lieu:

 12 ¶ And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

13 Car nous devons détruire ce lieu, parce que leur cri s’est accru devant la face du SEIGNEUR ;et le SEIGNEUR nous a envoyés pour le détruire.

 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

14 Et Lot sortit et parla à ses gendres, lesquels étaient mariés à ses filles, et dit: Debout, sortez de ce lieu ; car le SEIGNEUR doit détruire la ville. Mais il sembla à ses gendres quelqu’un qui se moquait.

 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

15 ¶ Et lorsque le matin se leva, les anges hâtèrent Lot, disant, Lève-toi, prends ta femme et tes deux filles, lesquelles sont ici ; de peur que tu ne sois consumé dans l’iniquité de la ville.

 15 ¶ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

16 Et comme il tardait, les hommes s'emparèrent de sa main et de la main sa femme et de la main de ses deux filles ; le SEIGNEUR lui faisant miséricorde: et ils l’emmenèrent, et le placèrent hors de la ville.

 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

17 ¶ Et il arriva, lorsqu’ils les eurent emmenés au loin, qu’il dit: Sauve-toi pour ta vie ; ne regarde pas derrière toi, et ne reste pas dans toute la plaine ; sauve-toi vers la montagne, de peur que tu ne sois consumé.

 17 ¶ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

18 Et Lot leur dit: Oh, non pas ainsi, mon Seigneur:

 18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

19 Voici maintenant, ton serviteur a trouvé grâce à ta vue, et tu as magnifié ta miséricorde, laquelle tu m’as démontrée en sauvant ma vie ; et je ne puis m’échapper vers la montagne, de peur que quelque mal me prenne et que je ne meure:

 19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

20 Voici à présent, cette ville est proche pour y fuir, et elle est petite: Oh, laisse-moi m’échapper là, (n’est-elle pas petite) ? Et mon âme vivra.

 20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

21 Et il lui dit: Vois j’ai accepté concernant cette chose aussi, que je ne renverserai pas cette ville dont tu as parlé.

 21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

22 Hâte-toi, sauve-toi là ; car je ne puis rien faire jusqu’à ce que tu y sois venu. Par conséquent le nom de la ville était appelé Zoar.

 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

23 ¶ Le soleil était levé sur la terre lorsque Lot entra dans Zoar.

 23 ¶ The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

24 Alors le SEIGNEUR fit pleuvoir sur Sodome et sur Gomorrhe du soufre et du feu de la part du SEIGNEUR depuis le ciel.

 24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

25 Et il démolit ces villes et toute la plaine, et tous les habitants des villes, et ce qui poussait sur le sol.

 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

26 Mais sa femme regarda derrière lui, et elle devint une colonne de sel.

 26 ¶ But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 ¶ Et Abraham se leva tôt le matin et vint au lieu où il s’était tenu devant le SEIGNEUR : .

 27 ¶ And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:

28 Et il regarda vers Sodome et Gomorrhe, et vers tout le pays de la plaine, et contempla, et, voici, la fumée de la région montait comme la fumée d’une fournaise.

 28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

29 ¶ Et il arriva, lorsque Dieu détruisit les villes de la plaine, que Dieu se souvint d’Abraham, et envoya Lot hors du milieu de la démolition, lorsqu’il démolit les villes dans lesquelles Lot demeurait.

 29 ¶ And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

30 ¶ Et Lot monta hors de Zoar, et demeura dans la montagne, et ses deux filles avec lui ; car il craignit de demeurer dans Zoar: et il demeura dans une caverne, lui et ses deux filles.

 30 ¶ And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 Et l’aînée dit à la plus jeune: Notre père est âgé, et il n’y a pas d’homme sur la terre pour venir vers nous suivant la manière de toute la terre:

 31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

32 Viens, faisons boire du vin à notre père, et nous coucherons avec lui, afin que nous puissions préserver une semence de notre père.

 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

33 Et elles firent boire du vin à leur père cette nuit-là: et l’aînée vint, et coucha avec son père ; et il ne s’aperçut ni lorsqu’elle se coucha, ni lorsqu’elle se leva.

 33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 Et il arriva le lendemain, que l’aînée dit à la plus jeune: Voici, j’ai couché hier soir avec mon père: faisons-lui boire du vin cette nuit aussi ; et va, et couche avec lui, pour que nous puissions préserver une semence de notre père.

 34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

35 Et elles firent boire du vin à leur père cette nuit-là aussi: et la plus jeune se leva et coucha avec lui ; et il ne s’aperçut ni lorsqu’elle se coucha, ni lorsqu’elle se leva.

 35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Ainsi les deux filles de Lot furent enceintes de leur père.

 36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

37 Et l’aînée enfanta un fils, et appela son nom Moab: celui-là est le père des Moabites jusqu’à ce jour.

 37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

38 Et la plus jeune, elle aussi enfanta un fils, et appela son nom Ben-ammi: celui-là est le père des enfants d’Ammon jusqu’à ce jour.

 38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
