1 Or ce sont ici les générations d’Esau, qui est Édom.

 1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

2 Esaü prit ses femmes d’entre les filles de Canaan ; Adah la fille d’Elon, le Hittite, et Aholibamah la fille d’Anah, fille de Zibeon, le Hivite ;

 2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

3 Et Bashemath, fille d’Ismaël, sœur de Nebajoth.

 3 And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth.

4 Et Adah enfanta à Esau, Eliphaz ; et Bashemath enfanta Reuel ;

 4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;

5 Et Aholibamah enfanta Jeush, et Jaalam et Korah: ce sont les fils d’Esaü, qui lui naquirent dans la terre de Canaan.

 5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.

6 Et Esaü prit ses femmes, et ses fils et ses filles, et toutes les personnes de sa maison, et son bétail et toutes ses bêtes, et toute ses biens qu’il avait accumulé dans la terre de Canaan ; et il s’en alla dans une région loin de la face de son frère Jacob.

 6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.

7 Car leurs richesses étaient trop importantes pour qu’ils puissent demeurer ensemble ; et la terre dans laquelle ils étaient étrangers ne pouvait pas les soutenir à cause de leur bétail.

 7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.

8 Ainsi demeura Esaü au mont Seir: Esaü est Édom.

 8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

9 ¶ Et voici les générations d’Esaü le père des Édomites sur la montagne de Seir.

 9 ¶ And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:

10 Ce sont ici les noms des fils d’Esaü ; Eliphaz, le fils d’Adah la femme d’Esau, Reuel le fils de Bashemath la femme d’Esaü .

 10 These are the names of Esau’s sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.

11 Et les fils d’Eliphaz étaient Teman, Omar, Zepho et Gatam et Kenaz.

 11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.

12 Et Timna était concubine d’Eliphaz, fils d’Esaü ;et elle enfanta à Eliphaz, Amalek: ceux-ci furent les fils d’Adah, la femme d’Esaü .

 12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau’s wife.

13 Et ce sont ici les fils de Reuel ; Nahath et Zerah, Shammah et Mizzah: ceux-ci furent les fils de Bashemath, la femme d’Esau.

 13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife.

14 ¶ Et ceux-ci furent les fils d’Aholibamah, la fille d’Anah, la fille de Zibeon, femme d’Esau: et elle enfanta à Esau, Jeush, Jaalam et Korah.

 14 ¶ And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.

15 ¶ Ceux-ci furent ducs des fils d’Esau: les fils d’Eliphaz le fils premier-né d’Esau: duc Teman, duc Omar, duc Zepho, duc Kenaz,

 15 ¶ These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,

16 Duc Korah, duc Gatam, et duc Amalek : ce sont là les ducs issus d’Eliphaz dans le pays d’Edom ; ceux-ci furent les fils d’Adah.

 16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.

17 ¶ Et ce sont ici les fils de Reuel fils d’Esaü ; duc Nahath, duc Zerah, duc Shamma, duc Mizzah: ce sont ici les ducs issus de Reuel dans le pays d’Edom, ceux-ci sont les fils de Bashemath, femme d’Esau.

 17 ¶ And these are the sons of Reuel Esau’s son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife.

18 ¶ Et ce sont ici les fils d’Aholibahmah, femme d’Esaü ;: duc Jeush, duc Jaalam, duc Korah: ceux-ci furent les ducs issus d’Aholibahmah, la fille d’Anah, femme d’Esau.

 18 ¶ And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau’s wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife.

19 Ce sont ici les fils d’Esaü , qui est Édom, et ce sont ici leurs ducs.

 19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.

20 ¶ Ce sont ici les fils de Seir le Horite, qui habitaient le pays ; Lothan, et Shobal, et Zibeon, et Anah,

 20 ¶ These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

21 Et Dishon, et Ezer et Dishan: ce sont ici les ducs des Horites, les enfants de Seir, dans le pays d’Édom.

 21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 Et les enfants de Lothan furent Hori et Heman ; et la sœur de Lothan fut Timna.

 22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.

23 Et les enfants de Shobal furent ceux-ci ; Alvan, Manahath, et Ebal, et Shepho et Onam.

 23 And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

24 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Zibeon ; Ajah et Anah: c’est cet Anah qui trouva les mulets dans le désert, pendant qu’il gardait les ânes de Zibeon, son père.

 24 And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.

25 Et les enfants d’Anah furent ceux-ci ; Dishon et Aholibahmah, la fille d’Anah.

 25 And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.

26 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Dishon ; Hemdan, et Eshban, et Ithran et Cheran.

 26 And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

27 Et les enfants d’Ezer sont ceux-ci ; Bilhan, et Zaavan et Akan.

 27 The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.

28 Les enfants de Dishan sont ceux-ci ; Uz et Aran.

 28 The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran.

29 Ce sont ici les ducs issus des Horites ; duc Lothan, duc Shobal, duc Zibeon, duc Anah,

 29 These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,

30 Duc Dishon, duc Ezer, duc Dishan: ceux-ci sont les ducs issus de Hori, parmi leurs ducs dans le pays de Seir.

 30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.

31 ¶ Et Ce sont ici les rois qui régnèrent dans le pays d’Edom, avant qu’aucun roi ne règne sur les enfants d’Israël

 31 ¶ And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.

32 Et Bela, le fils de Beor, régna en Edom: et le nom de sa ville était Dinhabah.

 32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

33 Et Bela mourut ; et Jobab, le fils de Zerah de Bozrah régna à sa place.

 33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

34 Et Jobab mourut, et Husham, du pays de Temani régna à sa place.

 34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.

35 Et Husham mourut, et Hadad le fils de Bedad, qui frappa Midian dans le champ de Moab, régna à sa place: et le nom de sa ville était Avith.

 35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.

36 Et Hadad mourut, et Samla de Masrekah régna à sa place.

 36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

37 Et Samlah mourut, et Saul de Rehoboth près de la rivière régna à sa place.

 37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.

38 Et Saul mourut, et Baal-hanan, le fils d’Achbor régna à sa place.

 38 And Saul died, and Baalhanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

39 Et Baal-hanan le fils d’Achbor mourut, et Hadar régna à sa place: et le nom de sa ville était Pau, et le nom de sa femme était Mehetabel, la fille de Matred, la fille de MezAchab.

 39 And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40 Et ce sont ici les noms des ducs issus d’Esau, selon leurs familles, suivant leurs lieux, par leurs noms ;, duc Timnah, duc Alvah, duc Jetheth,

 40 And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,

41 Duc Aholibahmah, duc Elah, duc Pinon,

 41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,

42 Duc Kenaz, duc Teman, duc Mibzar,

 42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,

43 Duc Magdiel, duc Iram: ce sont ici les ducs d’Edom, selon leurs habitations dans le pays de leur possession: Il est Esaü , le père des Edomites.

 43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
