1 Alors Joseph ne put plus se retenir devant tous ceux qui se tenaient près de lui ; et il cria, Faites sortir tout le monde d’auprès de moi. Et personne ne se tenait avec lui, tandis que Joseph se fit connaître à ses frères.

 1 Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.

2 Et il pleura bruyamment: et les Égyptiens et la maison de Pharaon l’entendirent.

 2 And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.

3 Et Joseph dit à ses frères: Je suis Joseph ; mon père est-il encore en vie ? Et ses frères ne pouvaient lui répondre ; car ils étaient troublés en sa présence.

 3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

4 Et Joseph dit à ses frères: Venez près de moi, je vous prie. Et ils s’approchèrent. Et il dit: Je suis Joseph votre frère, que vous avez vendu en Égypte.

 4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

5 Maintenant donc, ne soyez pas navrés, et ne soyez pas en colère contre vous-mènes, de ce que vous m’avez vendu ici ; car Dieu m’a envoyé avant vous pour préserver la vie.

 5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

6 Car depuis deux années la famine est sur le pays : et il doit y avoir encore cinq années pendant lesquelles il ne doit y avoir ni labour, ni moisson.

 6 For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.

7 Et Dieu m’a envoyé avant vous pour vous préserver une postérité sur la terre, et pour sauver vos vies par une grande délivrance.

 7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

8 Aussi maintenant, ce n’était pas vous qui m’avez envoyé ici, mais Dieu: et il m’a fait un père à Pharaon, et seigneur de toute sa maison, et dirigeant à travers tout le pays d’Égypte.

 8 So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9 Hâtez-vous, et montez vers mon père, et dites-lui: Ainsi dit ton fils Joseph: Dieu m’a rendu seigneur sur toute l’Égypte: descends vers moi, ne tarde pas.

 9 Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:

10 Et tu demeureras dans la terre de Goshen et tu seras près de moi, toi, et tes enfants, et les enfants de tes enfants, et tes troupeaux de moutons et de bœufs, et tout ce que tu as :

 10 And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast:

11 Et là je t’y nourrirai ; car il y a encore cinq années de famine ; de peur que toi et ta maisonnée, et tout ce que tu as, ne périsse de pauvreté.

 11 And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.

12 Et, voici, vos yeux voient, et les yeux de mon frère Benjamin voient, que c’est ma bouche qui vous parle.

 12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you.

13 Et vous devez raconter à mon père de toute ma gloire en Égypte, et de tout ce que vous avez vu ; et vous vous hâterez de faire descendre ici mon père.

 13 And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen; and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither.

14 Et il tomba au cou de son frère Benjamin, et pleura ; et Benjamin pleura sur son cou.

 14 And he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

15 De plus il embrassa tous ses frères, et pleura sur eux: et après cela ses frères parlèrent avec lui.

 15 Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

16 ¶ Et la rumeur se fit entendre dans la maison de Pharaon, disant, Les frères de Joseph sont venus: et cela plut bien à Pharaon et à ses serviteurs.

 16 ¶ And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, Joseph’s brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

17 Et Pharaon dit à Joseph: Dis à tes frères, Faites ceci ; chargez vos bêtes, et allez, partez vers la terre de Canaan ;

 17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;

18 Et prenez votre père et vos maisonnées, et venez à moi: et je vux vous donner le meilleur du pays d’Égypte, et vous mangerez la graisse du pays.

 18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land.

19 Or tu as commandé, faites ceci ; prenez du pays d’Égypte des charrettes pour vos petits et pour vos femmes, et amenez votre père, et venez.

 19 Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

20 Et ne prêtez pas attention à votre fatras ; car le meilleur de tout le pays d’Égypte est à vous.

 20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.

21 Et les enfants d’Israël firent ainsi: et Joseph leur donna des charrettes, selon le commandement de Pharaon, et il leur donna des provisions pour le chemin.

 21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.

22 Il donna à eux tous des habillements de rechange ;mais à Benjamin il donna trois cents pièces d’argent, et cinq habillements de rechange.

 22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.

23 Et à son père il envoya suivant cette manière, dix ânes chargés de bonnes choses d’Égypte, et dix ânesses chargées de maïs, de pain, et de nourriture pour son père pendant le chemin.

 23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.

24 Ainsi il renvoya ses frères, et ils partirent, et il leur dit, Prenez soin de ne pas vous disputer en chemin.

 24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.

25 ¶ Et ils remontèrent d’Égypte, et vinrent dans la terre de Canaan vers Jacob, leur père,

 25 ¶ And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

26 Et lui racontèrent, disant, Joseph est encore en vie, et il est gouverneur sur tout le pays d’Égypte. Et le cœur de Jacob faiblit, car il ne les croyait pas.

 26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not.

27 Et ils lui racontèrent toutes les paroles que Joseph leur avait dites: et lorsqu’il vit les charrettes que Joseph avait envoyées pour le porter, l’esprit de Jacob, leur père se ranima.

 27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:

28 Et Israël dit: C’est assez ; Joseph mon fils est encore en vie: je veux aller et le verrai avant que je meure.

 28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.
