1 ¶ Et Jacob appela ses fils, et dit, Assemblez-vous, afin que je puisse vous dire ce qui doit vous arriver aux derniers jours.

 1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

2 Assemblez-vous et écoutez, vous fils de Jacob ; et prêtez attention à Israël, votre père.

 2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

3 Ruben, tu es mon premier-né, ma puissance, et le commencement de ma vigueur, l’excellence de dignité et l’excellence de pouvoir :

 3 ¶ Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:

4 Instable comme l’eau, tu n’excelleras pas ; parce que tu es monté sur le lit de ton père ; puis tu l’as souillé ; il est monté sur mon lit.

 4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

5 ¶ Simeon et Lévi sont frères ; instruments de cruauté sont dans leurs habitations.

 5 ¶ Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.

6 Ô mon âme n’entre pas dans leur secret ; mon honneur ne sois pas uni à leur assemble : car dans leur colère ils ont tué un homme, et dans leur détermination ils ont démoli une muraille.

 6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.

7 Maudite soit leur colère, car elle était féroce ; et leur courroux, car il était cru : je les diviserai en Jacob, et les disperserai en IsraëlL.

 7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

8 ¶ Judah, tu es celui que tes frères doivent louer: ta main doit être sur le cou de tes ennemis ; les enfants de ton père doivent se courber devant toi.

 8 ¶ Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

9 Judah est un lionceau : de la proie, mon fils, tu es remonté: il s’abaissa, il s’accroupit comme un lion, et comme un vieux lion ; qui doit le lever ?

 9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

10 Le sceptre ne doit pas se retirerde Judah, ni un législateur d’entre ses pieds, jusqu’à ce que Shiloh vienne ; et à lui doit être le rassemblement des peuples.

 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

11 Attachant son ânon à la vigne, et le petit de son ânesse à la meilleure vigne ; il lava ses vêtements dans le vin, et ses effets dans le sang des raisins.

 11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:

12 Ses yeux seront rouges de vin, et ses dents blanches de lait.

 12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

13 ¶ Zebulun doit demeurer au havre de la mer ; et il doit être un havre pour les navires ; et sa frontière doit s’étendre jusqu’à Sidon.

 13 ¶ Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

14 ¶ Issachar est un âne robuste s’accroupissant entre deux charges.

 14 ¶ Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

15 Et il vit que le repos était bon, et que le pays était agréable ; et il courba son épaule pour porter, et devint serviteur au tribut.

 15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

16 ¶ Dan doit juger son peuple, comme l’une des tribus d’Israël.

 16 ¶ Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

17 Dan sera un serpent le long du chemin, une vipère sur le sentier, qui mord les talons du cheval, si bien que son cavalier tombe à la renverse.

 17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

18 J’ai attendu ton salut, ô SEIGNEUR.

 18 I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.

19 ¶ Gad, une troupe l’emportera sur Lui : mais il l’emportera à la fin.

 19 ¶ Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

20 ¶ D’Asher son pain sera riche, et il produira les friandises royales.

 20 ¶ Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.

21 ¶ Naphtali est une biche détachée : il prononce des paroles aimables.

 21 ¶ Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

22 ¶ Joseph est un rameau fécond, à savoir un rameau fécond près d’un puits ; dont les branches recouvrent la muraille.

 22 ¶ Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 Les archers l’ont fortement navré, et ont tiré sur lui, et l’ont haï:

 23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 Mais son arc demeura ferme, et les bras de ses mains furent rendus forts par les mains du puissant Dieu de Jacob ; (de là est le berger, la pierre d’Israël) :

 24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

25 C’est-à-dire par le Dieu de ton père, qui doit t’aider; et par le Tout-Puissant, qui doit te bénir de bénédictions du ciel en haut, de bénédictions de l’abîme qui s’étend en dessous, de bénédictions des seins et de l’utérus :

 25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

26 Les bénédictions de ton père ont surpassé les bénédictions de mes aïeux jusqu’à la limite la plus éloignée des collines sempiternelles : elles doivent être sur la tête de Joseph, et sur le sommet de la tête de celui qui fut séparé de ses frères.

 26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

27 ¶ Benjamin sera comme un loup ravisseur : au matin, il dévorera la proie, et la nuit il partagera le butin.

 27 ¶ Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

28 ¶ Tous ceux-là sont les douze tribus d’Israël : et c’est ce que leur père leur a dit, et il les bénit ; il les bénit chacun selon sa bénédiction.

 28 ¶ All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

29 Et il les chargea et leur dit, Je vais être recueilli vers mon peuple : enterrez-moi avec mes pères dans la caverne qui est dans le champ d’Ephron, le Hittite,

 29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

30 Dans la caverne qui est dans le champ de Machpelah, lequel est en face de Mamre, dans la terre de Canaan, laquelle Abraham acheta d’Ephron, le Hittite, avec le champ pour une possession de sépulture.

 30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

31 Là ils enterrèrent Abraham et Sarah, sa femme ; là ils enterrèrent Isaac et Rebekah, sa femme ; et là, j’ai enterré Leah .

 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.

32 L’acquisition du champ et de la caverne qui y est fut faite des enfants de Heth.

 32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.

33 Et lorsque Jacob eut achevé de donner ses commandements à ses fils, il assembla ses pieds sur le lit, et rendit l’esprit, et fut recueilli vers ses peuples.

 33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
