1 Au septième mois, au vingt et unième jour du mois, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint par Haggai (Aggée) le prophète, en disant :

 1 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

2 Parle maintenant à Zerubbabel (Zorobabel), le fils de Shealtiel, gouverneur de Judah (Juda), et à Joshua (Josué), le fils de Josedech (Jotsadak), grand prêtre, et au reste du peuple, disant :

 2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

3 Qui est de reste parmi vous, qui ait vu cette maison dans sa première gloire ? et comment la voyez-vous maintenant ? Telle qu’elle est, n’est-elle pas comme un rien à vos yeux ?

 3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

4 Maintenant donc, fortifie-toi ô Zerubbabel (Zorobabel), dit le SEIGNEUR ; et fortifie-toi, ô Joshua (Josué), fils de Josedech (Jotsadak), le grand prêtre et fortifiez-vous, vous tout le peuple du pays, dit le SEIGNEUR ; et travaillez, car je suis avec vous, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées,

 4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

5 Selon la parole que j’ai traitée avec vous quand vous êtes sortis d’Égypte, et mon esprit demeurent au milieu de vous ne craignez pas.

 5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

6 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Encore une fois, dans peu de temps, j’ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, et la mer et la terre sèche.

 6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

7 Et j’ébranlerai toutes les nations, et le désir de toutes les nations viendra, et je remplirai cette maison de gloire, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

8 L’argent est à moi, et l’or est à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

9 La gloire de cette dernière maison sera plus grande que la première, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées ; et en ce lieu je donnerai la paix, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

10 ¶ Au vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, en la seconde année de Darius, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint par Haggai (Aggée), le prophète, en disant :

 10 ¶ In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Interroge maintenant les prêtres concernant la loi, en disant :

 11 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

12 Si quelqu’un porte de la sainte chair dans le pan de son vêtement, et qu’il touche de son pan à du pain, ou à de la soupe, ou à du vin, ou à de l’huile, ou à quelque viande que ce soit, cela sera-t-il saint ? Et les prêtres répondirent, et dirent : Non.

 12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13 Alors Haggai (Aggée) dit : Si celui qui est souillé par un mort touche n’importe laquelle de ces choses, sera-t-elle souillée ? Et les prêtres répondirent, et dirent : Elle sera souillée.

 13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14 Alors Haggai (Aggée) répondit, et dit : Ainsi est ce peuple, et ainsi est cette nation devant moi, dit le SEIGNEUR, et ainsi est toute l’œuvre de leurs mains ; et ce qu’ils offrent là est souillé.

 14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

15 Maintenant donc, considérez, je vous prie, depuis ce jour et dorénavant, avant qu’on ait posé pierre sur pierre au temple du SEIGNEUR.

 15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

16 Depuis ces jours-là, quand on venait à un monceau de vingt mesures, il n’y en avait que dix ; quand on venait au pressoir pour puiser cinquante mesures du pressoir, il n’y en avait que vingt.

 16 Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

17 Je vous ai frappés de brûlure, et de moisissure et de grêle dans tous les travaux de vos mains ; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

18 Considérez donc depuis ce jour-ci et dorénavant, depuis le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, c’est-à-dire depuis le jour que les fondements ont été posés ; considérez-le.

 18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD’S temple was laid, consider it.

19 Y a-t-il encore de la semence dans la grange ? Même jusqu’à la vigne, au figuier, au grenadier et à l’olivier, n’ont pas rapporté ; dès ce jour, je vous bénirai.

 19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

20 ¶ Et de nouveau la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Haggai (Aggée), au vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en disant :

 20 ¶ And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

21 Parle à Zerubbabel (Zorobabel), gouverneur de Judah (Juda), en disant : J’ébranlerai les cieux et la terre ;

 21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

22 Et je renverserai le trône des royaumes, et je détruirai la puissance des royaumes des païens ; et je renverserai les chariots et ceux qui les montent ; et les chevaux et ceux qui les montent seront abattus, chacun par l’épée de son frère.

 22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

23 En ce jour-là, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, je te prendrai, ô Zerubbabel (Zorobabel), le fils de Shealtiel, mon serviteur, dit le SEIGNEUR, et je te ferai comme un cachet ; car je t’ai choisi, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 23 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
