1 Au huitième mois de la seconde année de Darius, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Zechariah (Zacharie), le fils de Berechiah (Barachie), le fils d’Iddo, le prophète en disant :

 1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

2 Le SEIGNEUR a été fort irrité contre vos pères.

 2 The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

3 C’est pourquoi tu leur diras Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Retournez-vous vers moi, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, et je retournerai vers vous, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

4 Ne soyez pas comme vos pères, auxquels les précédents prophètes criaient, en disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Détournez-vous de vos mauvais chemins et de vos mauvaises actions ; mais ils n’ont pas entendu, ils ne m’ont pas écouté, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

5 Vos pères, où sont-ils ? Et les prophètes vivent-ils à toujours ?

 5 Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

6 Quoi que ce soit mes paroles et mes statuts, que j’avais commandés à mes serviteurs les prophètes, n’ont-ils pas atteints vos pères ? Et ils sont revenus, et ont dit : Comme le SEIGNEUR des armées avait pensé nous faire, selon nos chemins et selon nos actions, ainsi a-t-il agi avec nous.

 6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

7 ¶ Au vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Sebat (Shébat), en la seconde année de Darius, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Zechariah (Zacharie), le fils de Berechiah (Barachie), le fils d’Iddo, le prophète, disant :

 7 ¶ Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

8 Je vis de nuit ; et voici, un homme monté sur un cheval roux ; il se tenait parmi les myrtes qui étaient dans le fond ; et, après lui, il y avait des chevaux roux, marquetés et blancs.

 8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

9 Et je dis : Ô mon Seigneur, qui sont ceux-ci ? Et l’ange qui me parlait me dit : Je te montrerai qui sont ceux-ci.

9 Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

10 Et l’homme qui se tenait parmi les myrtes répondit, et dit : Ce sont ceux que le SEIGNEUR a envoyés pour marcher çà et là, sur la terre.

 10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

11 Et Ils répondirent à l’ange du SEIGNEUR, qui se tenait parmi les myrtes, et dirent : Nous avons marché çà et là, sur la terre ; et voici, toute la terre est tranquille et en repos.

 11 And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

12 ¶ Alors l’ange du SEIGNEUR répondit, et dit : Ô SEIGNEUR des armées, jusqu’à quand n’auras-tu pas miséricorde envers Jérusalem et envers les villes de Judah (Juda), contre lesquelles tu as été indigné depuis soixante- dix ans ?

 12 ¶ Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

13 Et le SEIGNEUR répondit à l’ange qui me parlait, par de bonnes paroles, des paroles de consolation.

 13 And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

14 Et l’ange qui me parlait me dit : Crie, en disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Je suis jaloux pour Jérusalem, et pour Sion, d’une grande jalousie ;

 14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

15 Et je suis fort irrité contre les païens qui sont à leur aise ; car, j’étais un peu irrité, et ils ont aidé à avancer l’affliction.

 15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

16 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur : Je suis revenu à Jérusalem avec miséricorde ; ma maison y sera bâtie, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, et le cordeau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.

 16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

17 Crie encore, disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : Mes villes seront encore élargies à cause de la prospérité, et le SEIGNEUR consolera encore Sion, et il choisira encore Jérusalem.

 17 Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

18 ¶ Puis je levai mes yeux et regardai ; et je vis quatre cornes.

 18 ¶ Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

19 Et je dis à l’ange qui me parlait : Que sont celles-ci ? Et il me répondit : Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Judah, Israël et Jérusalem.

 19 And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

20 Puis le SEIGNEUR me montra quatre forgerons.

 20 And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.

21 Et je dis : Que viennent faire ceux-ci ? Et il parla, disant : Ce sont là les cornes qui ont dispersé Judah, de telle façon que personne ne levait la tête ; mais ceux-ci sont venus pour les effrayer, pour abattre les cornes des Gentils qui ont levé leur corne contre le pays de Judah pour le disperser.

 21 Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
