1 Par conséquent nous devons donner la plus ardente attention aux choses que nous avons entendues, de peur qu’à tout moment nous ne les laissions échapper.

 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 Car si la parole prononcée par les anges a été ferme, et si toute transgression et désobéissance ont reçu une juste rétribution en récompense;

 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 Comment échapperons-nous, si nous négligeons un si grand salut; lequel commença d’être d’exprimé par le Seigneur, et nous a été confirmé par ceux qui l’avaient entendu;

 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 Dieu aussi leur rendant témoignage, et par des signes et des prodiges, et par divers miracles, et dons de l’Esprit Saint, selon sa volonté?

 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 Car ce n’est pas aux anges qu’il a assujetti le monde à venir, duquel nous parlons.

 5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 Mais quelqu’un à un certain endroit a témoigné, disant, Qu’est-ce que l’homme, que tu prêtes attention à lui? ou le fils de l’homme, que tu le visites?

 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

7 Tu l’as fait quelque peu inférieur aux anges; tu l’as couronné de gloire et d’honneur, et tu l’as établi sur les œuvres de tes mains:

 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Tu as assujetti toutes choses sous ses pieds. Car en ce qu’il lui a tout assujetti, il n’a rien laissé qui ne lui soit assujetti. Mais maintenant nous ne voyons pas encore que toutes choses lui sont soumises.

 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

9 Mais nous voyons Jésus, qui a été fait quelque peu inférieur aux anges pour la souffrance de la mort, couronné de gloire et d’honneur; afin qu’il par la grâce de Dieu, goûte la mort pour chaque homme.

 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 Car il convenait à celui, pour qui sont toutes choses et par qui sont toutes choses, en amenant beaucoup de fils à la gloire, afin de rendre le capitaine de leur salut parfait par des souffrances.

 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11 Car, et celui qui sanctifie, et ceux qui sont sanctifiés sont tous issus d’un seul: pour ce motif il n’est pas honteux de les appeler frères,

 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 Disant, Je déclarerai ton nom à mes frères, au milieu de l’église je te chanterai des louanges.

 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

13 Et encore, Je mettrai ma confiance en lui. Et encore, Voici moi et les enfants que Dieu m’a donnés.

 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

14 Étant donné donc que comme les enfants sont participants de la chair et du sang, il y a aussi lui-même pareillement participé; afin que par la mort il puisse détruire celui qui avait le pouvoir de la mort, c’est-à-dire, le diable;

 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 Et de délivrer ceux qui à cause de peur de la mort étaient toute leur vie assujettis à la servitude.

 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 Car en vérité, il n’a pas pris sur lui la nature des anges; mais il a pris sur lui la semence d’Abraham.

 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 C’est pourquoi en toutes choses il lui a été nécessaire d’être fait semblable à ses frères, afin qu’il puisse être un grand prêtre miséricordieux et fidèle dans les choses appartenant à Dieu, pour faire réconciliation pour les péchés du peuple.

 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 Car en ce qu’il a lui-même souffert étant tenté, il est capable de secourir ceux qui sont tentés.

 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
