1 Donc en vérité la première alliance avait aussi des ordonnances pour le service divin, et un sanctuaire de ce monde.

 1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

2 Car un tabernacle fut fait; le premier dans lequel était le chandelier, et la table, et le pain de présentation; lequel est appelé le sanctuaire.

 2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.

3 Et après le second voile, le tabernacle qui est appelé le plus Saint de tous;

 3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

4 Lequel avait l’encensoir d’or, et l’arche de l’alliance plaquée d’or tout autour, dans laquelle était le pot d’or qui contenait la manne, et le bâton d’Aaron, qui avait fleuri, et les tables de l’alliance;

 4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

5 Et au-dessus d’elle les chérubins de gloire ombrageant le siège de miséricorde; de cela nous ne pouvons pas maintenant parler de manière détaillée.

 5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

6 Or lorsque ces choses furent ainsi ordonnées, les prêtres entraient toujours dans le premier tabernacle, en accomplissant le service de Dieu.

 6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

7 Mais dans le second allait le grand prêtre seul une fois par an, non sans sang, lequel il offrait pour lui-même, et pour les erreurs du peuple:

 7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

8 L’Esprit Saint signifiant ceci, que le chemin vers le plus saint de tous n’avait pas encore été manifesté, tandis que le premier tabernacle était encore debout:

 8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

9 Lequel était une figure pour l’époque alors présente, dans lequel étaient offerts tant dons que sacrifices, qui ne pouvaient rendre parfait celui qui faisait le service, comme se rapportant à la conscience;

 9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

10 Lequel consistait seulement en aliments et boissons, et diverses ablutions, et d’ordonnances charnelles, imposées sur eux jusqu’au moment de réforme.

 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

11 Mais Christ étant venu en tant que grand prêtre des bonnes choses à venir, par un plus grand et plus parfait tabernacle, non fait par des mains, c’est-à-dire, non de cet édifice;

 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12 Ni par le sang des chèvres et des veaux, mais par son propre sang il est entré une seule fois dans le saint lieu, ayant obtenu la rédemption éternelle pour nous.

 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

13 Car si le sang des taureaux et des chèvres, et les cendres d’une génisse aspergeant les impurs, sanctifie à la purification de la chair:

 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

14 Combien plus sera le sang de Christ, qui par le moyen de l’Esprit éternel s’offrit lui-même sans tache à Dieu, purgera-t-il votre conscience des œuvres mortes pour servir le Dieu vivant?

 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15 Et pour ce motif il est le médiateur du nouveau testament, afin que par le moyen de la mort, pour la rédemption des transgressions qui étaient sous le premier testament, ceux qui sont appelés puissent recevoir la promesse du patrimoine éternel.

 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16 Car là où un testament est, il doit aussi de nécessité avoir la mort du testateur.

 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

17 Car un testament entre en vigueur après que les hommes sont morts: autrement il n’a pas en vigueur du tout tant que le testateur vit.

 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

18 C’est pourquoi le premier testament non plus n’a pas été dédié sans sang.

 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

19 Car lorsque Moïse eut dit chaque précepte à tout le peuple selon la loi, il prit le sang des veaux et des chèvres, avec de l’eau, et de la laine écarlate, et de l’hysope, et aspergea tant le livre que tout le peuple,

 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

20 Disant, Ceci est le sang du testament lequel Dieu a prescrit pour vous.

 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

21 De plus il aspergea avec le sang simultanément le tabernacle, et tous les ustensiles du ministère.

 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

22 Et presque toutes choses sont par la loi purgées avec le sang; et sans effusion de sang il n’y a aucune rémission.

 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23 Il était donc nécessaire que les modèles des choses dans les cieux devaient être purifiés par ceux-là; mais les choses célestes elles-mêmes par de meilleurs sacrifices que ceux-là.

 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24 Car Christ n’est pas entré dans les saints lieux faits par des mains, lesquels sont les figures du réel; mais dans le ciel lui-même, pour paraître maintenant dans la présence de Dieu pour nous:

 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

25 Ni encore pour qu’il s’offre lui-même souvent, comme le grand prêtre entre dans le saint lieu chaque année avec le sang des autres;

 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

26 Car alors il aurait souffert souvent depuis la fondation du monde: mais maintenant une fois à la fin du monde est-il apparu pour enlever le péché par le sacrifice de lui-même.

 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

27 Et comme il est déterminé aux hommes de mourir une fois, mais après cela le jugement:

 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 Ainsi Christ a été offert une fois pour porter les péchés de beaucoup; et à ceux qui l’attendent il apparaîtra la seconde fois sans péché à salut.

 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
