1 Ne te réjouis pas, ô Israël, pour t’égayer comme les autres peuples, car tu t’es prostitué, abandonnant ton Dieu, tu as aimé un salaire sur chaque aire à grain.

 1 Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

2 L’aire et la cuve ne les nourriront pas, et le vin nouveau lui fera défaut.

 2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

3 Ils ne demeureront pas dans la terre du SEIGNEUR ; mais Ephraim (Éphraïm) retournera en Égypte, et ils mangeront en Assyrie des choses souillées.

 3 They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

4 Ils n’offriront pas d’offrandes liquides au SEIGNEUR, et ils ne lui plairont pas ; leurs sacrifices leur seront comme le pain de deuil ; tous ceux qui en mangent seront souillés parce que leur pain qui est pour leur âme n’entrera pas dans la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 4 They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.

5 Que ferez-vous au jour solennel, et au jour de la fête du SEIGNEUR ?

 5 What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?

6 Car voici, ils sont partis à cause de la destruction L’Égypte les recueillera ; Memphis les enterrera ; les lieux de plaisance pour leur argent, l’ortie les possédera ; l’épine sera dans leurs tabernacles.

 6 For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

7 Les jours de la visitation arrivent, les jours de la rétribution arrivent ; Israël le saura le prophète est un insensé, l’homme spirituel est fou, à cause de la multitude de ton iniquité et de ta grande haine.

 7 The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

8 La sentinelle d’Ephraim (Éphraïm) était avec mon Dieu ; mais le prophète est un piège d’oiseleur sur tous ses chemins, et est haï dans la maison de son Dieu.

 8 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

9 Ils se sont profondément corrompus, comme aux jours de Gibeah ; c’est pourquoi il se souviendra de leur iniquité, il punira leurs péchés.

 9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

10 J’ai trouvé Israël comme des grappes dans le désert ; j’ai vu vos pères comme le premier fruit d’un figuier à son commencement ; mais ils sont allés vers Baalpeor, et se sont séparés consacrés à cette honte, et leurs abominations ont été comme leur désir.

 10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

11 Quant à Ephraim (Éphraïm), leur gloire s’envolera comme un oiseau dès la naissance, dès l’utérus, dès la conception.

 11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

12 Même s’ils élèvent leurs enfants, je les en priverai, tellement que pas un d’entre eux ne deviendra homme ; oui, malheur aussi à eux, quand je me retirerai d’eux !

 12 Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

13 Ephraim (Éphraïm), comme j’ai vu Tyre (Tyr), est planté dans un lieu agréable ; mais Ephraim (Éphraïm) mènera ses enfants au meurtrier.

 13 Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.

14 Donne-leur, ô SEIGNEUR ; que donneras-tu ? Donne-leur un utérus enclin à avorter, et des seins desséchés.

 14 Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15 Toute leur méchanceté est à Gilgal (Guilgal) ; car là, je les ai haïs ; à cause de la malice de leurs actions je les chasserai de ma maison ; je ne les aimerai plus ; tous leurs princes sont révoltés.

 15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

16 Ephraim (Éphraïm) est frappé, leur racine est desséchée, ils ne porteront plus de fruit ; oui, même s’ils enfantent, toutefois je ferai mourir le fruit bien aimé de leur utérus.

 16 Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

17 Mon Dieu les rejettera, parce qu’ils ne lui ont pas été attentifs, et ils seront errants parmi les nations.

 17 My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
