1 Israël est une vigne vide, il porte du fruit pour lui-même selon la multiplication de son fruit, il a augmenté les autels ; selon la bonté de son pays, ils ont faut des statues agréables.

 1 Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

2 Leur cœur est partagé ; maintenant ils vont être trouvés coupables ; il abattra leurs autels ; il détruira leurs statues.

 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

3 Car maintenant ils diront Nous n’avons pas de roi, parce que nous n’avons pas craint le SEIGNEUR ; que nous ferait alors un roi ?

 3 For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?

4 Ils ont prononcé des paroles, et juré faussement en traitant une alliance ; aussi le jugement germera, comme la ciguë dans les sillons des champs.

 4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

5 Les habitants de Samarie auront peur à cause des veaux de Bethaven ; car son peuple mènera deuil sur son idole, ainsi que ses prêtres qui s’en étaient réjouis à cause de sa gloire, car elle a été éloignée d’elle.

 5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

6 Elle sera même transportée en Assyrie, comme présent au roi Jareb. Ephraim (Éphraïm) recevra de la honte, et Israël sera honteux de son propre conseil.

 6 It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

7 Quant à Samarie, son roi est retranché, comme l’écume à la surface de l’eau.

 7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.

8 Et les hauts lieux d’Aven, le péché d’Israël, seront détruits ; l’épine et le chardon monteront sur leurs autels ; et ils diront aux montagnes Couvrez-nous ; et aux collines Tombez sur nous.

 8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

9 Ô Israël, tu as péché dès les jours de Gibeah là ils se tenaient ; la bataille contre les enfants d’iniquité ne les atteignit pas à Gibeah.

 9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.

10 C’est mon désir de les châtier, et les peuples s’assembleront contre eux, lorsqu’ils se seront liés à leurs deux sillons.

 10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.

11 Et Ephraim (Éphraïm) est comme une génisse dressée, et qui aime à fouler le grain ; mais j’ai passé sur son beau cou je ferai qu’Ephraim (Éphraïm) tire, Judah labourera, et Jacob rompra ses mottes.

 11 And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.

12 Semez pour vous-mêmes selon la rectitude, moissonnez selon la miséricorde ; défrichez votre terre en jachère car il est temps de rechercher le SEIGNEUR, jusqu’à ce qu’il vienne et fasse pleuvoir la rectitude sur vous.

 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

13 Vous avez labouré la méchanceté, moissonné l’iniquité, mangé le fruit du mensonge ; parce que tu t’es confié en ton chemin, dans la multitude de tes hommes puissants.

 13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14 C’est pourquoi un tumulte s’élèvera parmi ton peuple, et toutes tes forteresses seront ravagées, comme Shalman a ravagé Beth-Arbel au jour de la bataille la mère fut écrasée sur ses enfants.

 14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.

15 Bethel vous fera de même, à cause de votre grande méchanceté ; le roi d’Israël sera entièrement exterminé au point du jour.

 15 So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
