1 La vision d' Isaiah (Ésaïe), le fils d'Amoz (Amots), qu'il a vue concernant Judah et Jérusalem, durant les jours d'Uzziah (Ozias), de Jotham, d'Ahaz (Achaz) et d'Hezekiah (Ezéchias), rois de Judah (Juda).

 1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 Écoutez, ô cieux, et prête l'oreille, ô terre ; car le SEIGNEUR a parlé : J'ai nourri et ai élevé des enfants ; mais ils se sont rebellés contre moi.

 2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

3 Le bœuf connaît son propriétaire, et l'âne la crèche de son maître mais Israël ne connaît pas, mon peuple ne considère pas.

 3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

4 Ah nation pécheresse, peuple chargé d'iniquité, une semence de malfaiteurs, enfants qui corrompent ; ils ont abandonné le SEIGNEUR, ils ont provoqué au courroux. le Saint d'Israël, ils sont allés à reculons.

 4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

5 ¶ Pourquoi seriez-vous encore battus ? Vous vous révolterez de plus en plus ; la tête entière est malade, et le cœur entier est défaillant.

 5 ¶ Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

6 De la plante du pied jusqu'à la tête, il n'y a rien de sain ; seulement blessures, et meurtrissures et plaies purulentes : elles n'ont pas été pansées, ni bandées, ni adoucies avec un baume.

 6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

7 Votre pays est dévasté, vos villes sont brûlées par le feu, les étrangers dévorent votre terre en votre présence ; et elle est dévastée, comme ravagée par des étrangers.

 7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

8 Et la fille de Zion (Sion) est laissée comme une cabane dans une vigne, comme une baraque dans un champ de concombres, comme une ville assiégée.

 8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

9 Si le SEIGNEUR des armées ne nous avait laissé un bien petit résidu, nous aurions été comme Sodome, et nous ressemblerions à Gomorrhe.

 9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

10 ¶ Entendez la parole du SEIGNEUR, vous dirigeants de Sodome ; prêtez l'oreille à la loi de notre Dieu, vous peuple de Gomorrhe.

 10 ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

11 À quoi me sert la multitude de vos sacrifices ? dit le SEIGNEUR : Je suis rassasié des offrandes consumées de béliers et de la graisse de bêtes grasses ; et je ne prends pas plaisir au sang des taurillons, ou des agneaux, ou des boucs.

 11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

12 Quand vous venez pour paraître devant moi, qui ai requis cela de votre main, que vous fouliez mes cours ?

 12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13 N'apportez plus de vaines oblations ; l'encens m'est en abomination, les nouvelles lunes, les shabbats, la convocation des assemblées, je n'en puis plus supporter, c'est de l'iniquité et même les rencontres solennelles.

 13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

14 Vos nouvelles lunes et vos fêtes établies, mon âme les hait ; elles me troublent ; je suis fatigué de les supporter.

 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

15 Et quand vous étendrez vos mains, je cacherai mes yeux de vous ; oui, quand vous multiplierez les prières, je n'entendrai pas : vos mains sont pleines de sang.

 15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

16 ¶ Lavez-vous, nettoyez-vous ; ôtez la malice de vos actions de devant mes yeux ; cessez de faire le mal.

 16 ¶ Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

17 Apprenez à bien faire ; recherchez le juste jugement, soulagez l'opprimé, faites justice à l'orphelin, défendez la cause de la veuve.

 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

18 Venez maintenant et plaidons ensemble, dit le SEIGNEUR bien que vos péchés soient comme l'écarlate, ils seront blancs comme neige ; bien qu'ils soient rouges comme le cramoisi, ils seront comme laine.

 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

19 Si vous voulez bien obéir, vous mangerez le meilleur du pays.

 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

20 Mais si vous refusez et vous vous rebellez, vous serez dévorés par l'épée ; car la bouche du SEIGNEUR l'a dit.

 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

21 ¶ Comment la ville fidèle est-elle devenue une prostituée ! Elle était pleine de juste jugement, la rectitude logeait en elle ; mais maintenant, des meurtriers.

 21 ¶ How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

22 Ton argent est devenu scories ; ton vin est mélangé avec de l'eau.

 22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

23 Tes princes sont rebelles et compagnons de voleurs ; chacun d'eux aime les présents et court après les récompenses ; ils ne font pas justice à l'orphelin, et la cause de la veuve ne vient pas jusqu'à eux.

 23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

24 C'est pourquoi dit le Seigneur, le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Puissant d'Israël : Ah, je m'apaiserai de mes adversaires, et je me vengerai de mes ennemis.

 24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25 ¶ Et je tournerai ma main sur toi, et purgerai parfaitement tes scories, et j'ôterai tout ton étain.

 25 ¶ And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

26 Et je rétablirai tes juges comme la première fois, et tes conseillers comme au commencement ; après cela tu seras appelée La ville de la rectitude, la ville fidèle.

 26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

27 Zion (Sion) sera rachetée par le jugement, et ces convertis par la rectitude.

 27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

28 ¶ Et la destruction des transgresseurs et des pécheurs arrivera ensemble, et ceux qui abandonnent le SEIGNEUR seront consumés.

 28 ¶ And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

29 Car ils seront honteux à cause des chênes que vous avez désirés, et vous rougirez des jardins que vous avez choisis.

 29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

30 Car vous serez comme un chêne dont la feuille se flétrit, et comme un jardin qui n'a pas d'eau.

 30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

31 Et l'homme fort sera comme l'étoupe, et son fabricant comme une étincelle, et tous deux brûleront ensemble, et personne ne les éteindra.

 31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
