1 Ô que n’es- tu mon frère, qui a sucé les seins de ma mère ! Quand je te trouverais dehors, je t’embrasserais, oui, on ne me mépriserait pas.

1 O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised.
|
2 Je te conduirais et t’introduirais dans la maison de ma mère ; tu m’instruirais, je te ferais boire du vin aromatisé du jus de ma grenade.
|
2 I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother’s house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.
|
3 Sa main gauche serait sous ma tête, et sa main droite m’embrasserait.
|
3 His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.
|
4 Je vous ordonne, ô filles de Jérusalem, que vous n’excitiez pas, ni ne réveilliez mon amour, avant qu’il le veuille.
|
4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please.
|
5 Qui est celle-ci qui monte du désert, s’appuyant sur son bien-aimé ? Je t’ai réveillée sous un pommier, là ta mère t’a enfantée, là elle t’a donné le jour celle qui t’a enfantée.
|
5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.
|
6 ¶ Place-moi comme un sceau sur ton cœur, comme un cachet sur ton bras ; car l’amour est fort comme la mort, et la jalousie est cruelle comme la tombe ; leurs braises sont des braises de feu qui ont une flamme très véhémente.
|
6 ¶ Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
|
7 Beaucoup d’eaux ne peuvent éteindre l’amour, les fleuves ne peuvent pas le noyer ; si un homme donnait tous les biens de sa maison pour l’amour, on le mépriserait entièrement.
|
7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.
|
8 ¶ Nous avons une petite sœur, elle n’a pas encore de seins ; que ferons-nous pour notre sœur au jour où on parlera d’elle ?
|
8 ¶ We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?
|
9 Si elle est comme un mur, nous bâtirons sur elle un palais d’argent ; et si elle est comme une porte, nous la renfermerons avec des planches de cèdre.
|
9 If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar.
|
10 Je suis un mur, et mes seins sont comme des tours ; alors ai-je été à ses yeux comme celle qui trouve faveur.
|
10 I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour.
|
11 Salomon avait une vigne à Baalhamon ; il a laissé la vigne à des gardiens ; chacun d’eux devait apporter pour son fruit mille pièces d’argent.
|
11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.
|
12 Ma vigne, qui est à moi, est devant moi ; toi, ô Salomon, tu dois avoir mille pièces, et deux cents à ceux qui gardent le fruit.
|
12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.
|
13 Toi qui demeures dans les jardins, les compagnons écoutent ta voix ; fais que je l’entende.
|
13 Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.
|
14 ¶ Hâte-toi mon bien-aimé, sois comme un daim ou un jeune cerf sur les montagnes des épices.
|
14 ¶ Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices.
