1 Car voici le Seigneur, le SEIGNEUR des armées, ôte de Jérusalem et de Judah le soutien et l'appui, tout soutien de pain et toute ressource d'eau.

 1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

2 L'homme puissant et l'homme de guerre, le juge et le prophète, le prudent et l'ancien,

 2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,

3 Le capitaine de cinquante et l'homme considéré, et le conseiller, et l'habile artisan et l'orateur éloquent.

 3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

4 Et je leur donnerai des enfants pour être leurs princes, et des nourrissons gouverneront sur eux.

 4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

5 Et le peuple sera opprimé, l'un contre l'autre, et chacun par son voisin ; l'enfant se comportera avec arrogance envers la personne âgée et l’innommable contre l'homme honorable.

 5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

6 Quand un homme saisira son frère de la maison de son père, disant : Tu as un vêtement, sois notre dirigeant et que cette ruine soit sous ta main.

 6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

7 En ce jour-là, il jurera disant : Je ne serai pas un guérisseur, car dans ma maison il n'y a ni pain ni vêtement ; ne me faites pas dirigeant du peuple.

 7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

8 Car Jérusalem est en ruine et Judah est tombé, parce que leur langue et leur façon d'agir sont contre le SEIGNEUR, pour provoquer les yeux de sa gloire.

 8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9 ¶ L'aspect de leur visage témoigne contre eux, et ils déclarent leur péché comme Sodome, ils ne le cachent pas. Malheur à leur âme ! Car ils ont attiré le mal sur eux-mêmes.

 9 ¶ The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

10 Dites à l'homme droit, qu'il lui arrivera du bien, car ils mangeront le fruit de leurs œuvres.

 10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

11 Malheur au méchant ! Il lui arrivera du mal, car la rétribution de ses mains lui sera rendue.

 11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

12 ¶ Quant à mon peuple, des enfants l'oppriment, et des femmes le gouvernent. Ô mon peuple, ceux qui te conduisent te font égarer et obscurcissent le chemin de tes sentiers.

 12 ¶ As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

13 Le SEIGNEUR se tient debout pour plaider et il se tient là pour juger les peuples.

 13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

14 Le SEIGNEUR entrera en jugement avec les anciens de son peuple et avec ses princes car vous avez dévoré la vigne ce que vous avez volé au pauvre est dans vos maisons.

 14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

15 Quelle raison vous pousse pour que vous broyez en morceaux mon peuple, et que vous écrasiez la face des pauvres ? dit le Seigneur, DIEU des armées.

 15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

16 ¶ Le SEIGNEUR dit encore : Parce que les filles de Zion (Sion) sont hautaines et qu'elles marchent le cou tendu et les yeux provoquant, marchant à petits pas et faisant résonner leurs pieds,

 16 ¶ Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

17 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur frappera d'une croûte le sommet de la tête des filles de Zion (Sion) et le SEIGNEUR exposera leur nudité.

 17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

18 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur ôtera l'audace qu'elles ressentent en se parant d'ornements bruyants à leurs pieds, et leurs filets et leurs parures en forme de lune,

 18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

19 Les chaînes et les bracelets et les papillotes,

 19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20 Les chapeaux et les ornements pour les jambes et les serre-têtes, les boîtes à parfum et les pendants d'oreilles,

 20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

21 Les bagues, et les bijoux pendant sur le nez,

 21 The rings, and nose jewels,

22 Les différentes sortes de vêtements, et les capes, les manteaux, les voiles gaufrés, et les fers à friser.

 22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

23 Les miroirs et les chemises fines, les turbans et les voiles.

 23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

24 Et il arrivera, qu'au lieu de parfum il y aura de la puanteur ; et au lieu de ceinture, une corde ; et au lieu de cheveux bien coiffés, une tête chauve ; et au lieu d'une robe, une tunique de toile à sac ; et la peau brûlée au lieu de beauté.

 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

25 Tes hommes tomberont par l'épée, et tes puissants à la guerre.

 25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

26 Et ses portes se lamenteront et mèneront deuil ; et elle étant dévastée s'assiéra sur le sol.

 26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
